Ladies, welcome to Spring

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 02/02/2010 10:26

Hey TB, they aren't overly shiny but definitely not matt. Problem is most of my wardrobe doesn't go, too many dresses not enough just long enough tops.

I nearly thought about keeping them as they are so different to everything else I have, but then dh wasn't keen and so tipped the balance and back they go.

It's hard to know, you may love them....

My dithering over them is putting me in a bad mood (that and my need for hair appointment) so I may go to Regent's St today. This will either annoy me more or cheer me up!

Also am sorry to hear of your losses MM, LTEC and everyone.

Mrsjuan my hair is completely natural for the first time since I was 22, dark blonde now, big leap to go back to highlights...

Redliquorice · 02/02/2010 10:28

Morning all. Had to call in sick this morning as addicted to Mn full of the cold. So, I feel your pain Bunny.

Therefore, am suitably dressed (also snowing quite heavily up here) in Next skinnies, navy Gap fine knit short sleeved v-neck and chunky navy Joules cardi. Popping on brown suede biker boots and North Face jacket when I need to collect DC from nursry/school.

Choo - love that dress.

BBFF - I have my 3 DC and myself to get dressed and out in the morning by 8.45am and have it timed to perfection! Took a while to get a good routine...DD is now 10 !

MarshaBrady · 02/02/2010 10:49

Quick question, when you use the MN discount for My-wardrobe does that mean no free pick up?

Mimi1977 · 02/02/2010 10:52

Which colour lady are you seeing MrsJ? House of Colour of Colour Me Beautiful? I did HoC and am a blue autumn! Great excuse for a wardrobe overhaul!

I have my hair coloured at Aveda salon. Love it! Rather expensive but you can't beat it.

hellsbelles · 02/02/2010 11:07

bunny- it's a shame but I'm sure there will be another.

Choo - dress looks good....beautiful colour

Burning...your jersey shoes question made me laugh as I'm exactly the same. It all looks o.k. while I'm slouching about the house but as soon as I attempt any kind of footwear it all goes wrong. Hope someone here knows the answer!

Red - very naughty - apparently yesterday was the day more people call in sick than any other - so you are on-trend!

VerityBrulee · 02/02/2010 11:19

Morning all, grotty day here, one of those days when you have to have the lights turned on all day, miserable. BUT, I bought the new US Vogue on way back from school, so going to clean kitchen and retire to bed with it

Thanks for that like fleecy, lots of MiH jeans there, the ones I was thinking of are in the sale at Me&Em. I thought about them a lot this morning while stuck in traffic on the way home from school. The model wearing them is 5'9", I sadly am 5'3", so I wouldn't look quite so leggy in them. I would have to wear a heel really, but I usually wear jeans with ash-type kurt geiger trainers, so buying the jeans would also necessitate buying new shoes to go with them!

Eshermummy that's useful to know about the sizing, they only have 27" but my 28" baxters are too big and drive me crazy. I always tend to eat abit more and exercise a bit less in winter, so they would give me an incentive to shape up a bit for spring. Maybe.

Choogirl I like the dress, great colour

Marsha I am deeply, deeply envious that you have the potential of a spending spree in Liberty this afternoon, please report back so I can live vicariously through you

MarshaBrady · 02/02/2010 11:22

Verity, I am still here! Printing out label to return MW stuff (getting cross with dh as printer won't work, tee hee whoops), getting box ready, Going to post office. Far less fun but I have failed to move in time to go to Liberty!

Will go tomorrow, I will report back! Hope they've got good spring stuff in already

VerityBrulee · 02/02/2010 11:26

Well, your baby is so small, it's an achievement to get out of the house at all.

Good to have something to look forward to for tomorrow

bunnymother · 02/02/2010 11:50

Thanks, Hells, although am really more likely to get more wear out of jeans. But I did love it! More fish in the ebay sea...

VerityBrulee · 02/02/2010 11:55

Bunny, I must admit pouncing in with a high bid in the last few seconds is my strategy too, nothing worse than being outbid when you are already visualising yourself in the dress. Hope you get the next one

GeorginaWorsley · 02/02/2010 12:27

Good afternoon ladies.
Whoever linked to the Next nude courts, they caught my eye
Also the ladies with New Look metallic sandals,I have a silver pair from last year, were £10,had a look at them last night as we are off to sunnier climesat half term, and they are still good.
Am eagerly awaiting my Monsoon parcel as recommended by mimi.
Today am feeling bloody uncomfortable actually,in a pair of Topshop Martha's.
I cannot get on with them at all. They insist on lodging under my belly, despite frantic hoiking every few minutes, and the addition of a sturdy belt.
I seem ok with leggings tucked into boots, but don't think I am cut out for the jeans tucked in look at alL.
What else is fashionable though, all my jeans are boot/wide leg,bar 2 uncomfortable and I suspect unflattering pairs

Mimi1977 · 02/02/2010 12:29

Have you tried another pair of skinny jeans Georgina? I have Gap ones which were nice and someone recommended M&S ones!

Let us know how you get on with the Monsoon dress as I have my eye on it!

GeorginaWorsley · 02/02/2010 12:33

Will do Mimi.
Have the Marks ones in my basket awaiting me...plus navy leggings which will help me with loads of my dresses.
Are the Marks ones low waisted though?
I suspect I need a higher waisted cut,tbh
Am size 10/12,was a def 12 a few weeks ago but have lost a couple of pounds.

traceybath · 02/02/2010 12:38

Georgina - I don't tuck marthas in - too much material. Jeggings probably the way to go - do you have some already?

blossoming · 02/02/2010 12:48

Georgina, the M&S ones sit about a centimetre or so under the belly button. They're really comfortable, and don't need hoiking. I mentioned on another thread that I can lean over and change the baby's nappy on the floor with no muffin top or bum cleavage . They also fit nicely into my mol boots. At that price it's worth trying them out.

LetThemEatCake · 02/02/2010 12:50

hi all - is it bad that my friendly DHL driver phoned me while at playgroup to ask if he could collect the Ossie Clark sweater earlier than the booking time? Is it wrong that I have now stored his number in my phone for future convenience? Is this a shopping step too far???

by the way, an old school NaP shopper informs me that back in the day, the clothes were delivered by a private, suited and booted limo driver - does anyone know whether that's true???

sunglasses - I've got these for this year.

choo - I think that dress looks great - love the colour, the style is demure and ladylike with just a touch of ooh la la - perfect for the inlaws. It will look great on my mental image of you (Halle Berry)

tracey - I more than freaked out. DH was away for a week, I didn't really think I was pg, just idly curious, so bought a test, then thought "why wait?" ds1 asleep in pushchair, toilet cubicle not big enough, so buggy wedged in door (yes, door open - all class, me - was end cubicle though .... ) as I did my thing. Marched straight back into pharmacy and announced, to same assistant "I'm going to be needing some folic acid please."

MM - grey leather jacket!!!!

carciofi · 02/02/2010 12:56

LTEC, MM and Esher, so sorry for the loss of your DDs.

Fleecy, so sorry that your dad is ill.

LTEC, that is such a funny story!

I like the KM dress, Choogirl Monkeysmama, where in Italy are you from? My degree is in Italian and I lived in Florence for a year but can barely order a cappuccino in Italian now!

Georgina, check out Paige skinny jeans, they really are comfortable.

It is grey and dull here, so I am in Paige jeans, Frye boots and a blue poloneck.

My brother got engaged to his lovely girlfriend yesterday so very happy for them. That means a trip to New Zealand for the wedding and a new outfit.

Still haven't heard from my eBay buyer, I assume she has changed her mind but wish she'd tell me so I could sell the blooming bagto someone else. Gah!

GeorginaWorsley · 02/02/2010 12:59

tracey, have just ordered a pair from Next.
Agree Martja's not right tucked in,but was pouring down so I did!
Have resisted jeggings as I thought I would only wear them with boots, thus limiting their potential, ifyswim?
Will report back, they are coming tomorrow!
If I don't t uck Martha's in,I am not sure what shoes to wear with them,at this time of year??
blossoming thnks for that.Am checking out on Marks website now!
Will they be ok with shoes as well,in spring(gazes longingly out of window)??

Hana - I've had the laser op! My eyes were terrible (about minus 7) which was fine when I could where my lenses...but my eyes rebelled and got all sore so I was forced to wear my glasses. Which because of the thickness made me look like Olive from 'on the buses'

Really found the operation amazing...and my mum who had bad astigmatism had it done also and has been pretty happy with the results.

Fleecy · 02/02/2010 14:00

Hello again all - a very happy one from me. I mentioned my Dad was ill - we found out a couple of weeks ago that he has cancer and they thought it might have spread to the bones as he had symptoms.

But he has had scans, been to the consultant and we have found out today that it has not spread. At all.

So the prognosis is excellent and he will have an op soon to remove the tumours and should then be fine.

Am very relieved and pleased. Yay!

Anyway, there's a Paige sale coming up on Cocosa so those of you after jeans, sign up if you haven't already...

carciofi · 02/02/2010 14:05

That's fantastic news, Fleecy.

eshermummy · 02/02/2010 14:13

Just popping in while my shortbread is in the oven . Baking goodies for class coffee morning tomorrow.

Fleecy - sorry to hear about your dad being ill. I think my parents being ill is now MY biggest fear.

The Black Rats are due tomorrow. Despite spending close to £200 I was too tight to pay the aditional £3.50 to have them delivered today . Postage/delivery charges are my new bugbear. Who was it who asked about My Wardrobe collections? Have been stung by the no collection thing with them a few times . Apparently sale items do not qualify but full price does even if with MN discount. I think.

Am I alone in thinking it is still too cold for ASH hi-tops. It snowed here yesterday and I was tempted to put my ultra snuggly snowboots back on this morning for the school run. I really feel the cold though, esp on the early morning school run.

Another one here who loves metallic shoes. Will check out those New Look ones. Am not a big fan of designer footwear as a rule as tend to destroy shoes/sandals very quickly so am strictly high street on the footwear front.

Glad you all liked that nude jaeger handbag. I am very tempted but am going to see whether I end up keeping what I've ordered this week before indulging.

School run - DD1 started in reception last September so we now have to be out of the house by 8.20am (last year was a more civilised 9.05am for nursery). Is a massive rush. Alarm goes off at 6.30 and I get myself ready (bar slap) before getting the dd's dressed. While they are having their breakfast I apply a quick macquillage in the downstairs toilet. It only works because I lay out everything (even the DD's cereal in the bowls ) the night before. Am not a mornings person.

Choogirl - Glad you enjoyed your dinner. We held our wedding reception at Coq D'argent. T'was fabulous

Hi-lights - I have had my hair hilighted since my early twenties. Last year I got fed up with the upkeep and the fact it had been getting brassier and brassier and attempted to go back to my natural brown dark blonde. I couldn't. I hated it darker so am back to hi-lighting it. I have a lot of ginger red tones in my natural colour so tis a constant battle to keep it from going yellow.

LTEC - my DHL drivers have been known to call me on my mobile - also get a cheery wave when I see them out and about . Is great though as now they know me they are happy to leave parcels w/o a signature if I leave a signed note on the door.

eshermummy · 02/02/2010 14:15

Fleecy that's great news! Good luck to your dad for his ops.
