Ladies, welcome to Spring

OP posts:
monkeysmama · 01/02/2010 18:43

I didn't mean to bring down the mood. I sometimes forget that it may be a bit inappropriate to mention. I hope not.

Thank you girls.

LetThemEatCake · 01/02/2010 18:52

MM I am so sorry. I did wonder, when you mentioned your teardrop in the same thread where I'd mentioned my little Star.

I am sure our girls are up there together, playing and laughing at their clothes-obsessed mamas

OP posts:
hellsbelles · 01/02/2010 18:58

oh Cake - you as well so sorry. I've been through a lot of miscarriages which I found heart breaking but always before 3 months so I can't even begin to imagine what it's like to lose a baby.

bunnymother · 01/02/2010 19:03

Oh, Cakey, you too? So sorry that you lost a little sweetie, too.

MM it certainly is not inappropriate to discuss something important on this thread. Would be a shame if you felt you couldn't mention your baby. And you can be sure we will be back to discussing clothes again v soon!

monkeysmama · 01/02/2010 19:06
Wink
LetThemEatCake · 01/02/2010 19:42

I second bunny - I think one of the nicest things about this thread is that it's going deeper than the usual "what do you think of this dress?" threads - feels like we are actually getting to know one another. Hells I am sorry for your losses too, I think it's tragic and difficult at any stage of pregnancy.

You lot may get a laugh out of this ... I phoned the Outnet to get my Ossie RMA and the girl asked me what the problem was ... I explained re the plunge and gape and she asked whether I'd considered trying a smaller size??!!! er, yes, so that it can not only gape more, but cling to boot!!!

Agree with you all (as usual). It feels lovely and welcoming here now and of course we should say what's on our mind - long may it continue.

Back to shallowness I had to give up on the Antik Batik sandals. I love them but they don't love me. Got second pair today and it still does this weird riding up thing at the back every time I move. They look really perfect if I stand still and I was almost thinking I should put up with the inevitable raw heels that would occur.

But reminded myself I am a 'comfort' girl and that I never suffer for beauty (I know I should but I just can't). So I'm now on the search for some replacements plus I need some sandals in black as well. My best ever were from M&S about 6 years ago . They are pretty much ruined now from over wear. Everyone used to ask me where they were from...and usually thought Gucci!

BurningBuntingFlipFlop · 01/02/2010 20:41

Cake and MM - So sorry to hear that. It definitely feels like we're becoming friends on here, sure we won't all end up just talking clothes.

I feel really proud of myself, just had a huge clearout of clothes for charity and ebay plus an asos delivery arrived and there were 2 tees in there which normally i would have kept even though they weren't brilliant because they're only £16 each but i'm sending them back because they'll just sit in a drawer.

eshermummy · 01/02/2010 20:48

New thread already up to 58 messages !!!! AAAgh I can generally only get on in the evenings when the dd's in bed - how will i ever keep up???

MM and LTEC (and others) - am v sorry to hear of your losses. I lost a dd in between dd's 1 & 2 myself and it was hideous although dd2 did take most of the awfulness away when she arrived (I know that wouldn't be the case for everyone but it was for me).

Hells - I applaud you on the sandals. I am also a comfort over anything else sort of woman these days and in the end it makes sense as it is always the slightly uncomfortable or slightly restricting coat/jacket that never gets worn. Much better to not buy and carry on searching for the comfortable one .

Had a little chuckle over someone confusing Bonjour with Bonsoir! Bonsoir and New Look , as if, Bonsoir only does Marni and Dries van Scrotum

Have been a bit naughty today. Paid off last month's cc bill in full , was ok but was at upper limit of what I consider acceptable monthly spending and I want to spend less in Feb......but, already bought:

the black rats yay!!! Hope I love 'em.

and these jeans because it would be rude not to at that price and because they are almost the same as these which are full price and I am OFFICIALLY "doing jeans" this Spring. Got last pair in a 26, no idea if they will fit or not

Think jeans will work well with 2 things I have in mind for spring:

  1. Nude
  2. Nautical

On the nude theme can I have your thoughts on this please - someone linked to Jaeger handbags on another thread and I was muchly taken by it . I have got this idea of cream and blush ladylike chic on top half with rolled up boyf jeans and ballet pumps on bottom????

traceybath · 01/02/2010 20:52

Oh LTEC - sorry for your loss too .

Its funny about being online friends as I was chatting to a manager of a shop the other day about how women lose themselves after having children. We then got onto the subject of the health in pregnancy grant and I told him about one of my friends who'd put it towards a pair of choos and then remembered that was LTEC .

Have just been reading vogue and there are some very pretty tods handbags in there but can't see them online.

Mywardrobe have some pretty flat sandals in their new in section - I am way too small to go without heels but they look nice.

BurningBuntingFlipFlop · 01/02/2010 21:18

Esher, i like that bag. I also think that sounds like a good spring look!

Mimi1977 · 01/02/2010 21:31

Sorry for all of you who have lost babies. It's one of my biggest fears and probably most women's. MM you absolutely should not worry about mentioning her and bringing down the mood. I don't think anyone minds in the least.

Love those jeans esher!

New thread and so many msgs already!

Sorry to hear of your losses and hoping this thread brings some sunshine to you all.

Went shopping on Oxford Street today to complete my back to work wardrobe, nearly done. Bought a skirt from Planet (reduced price ) and fitted a size 10!! Was size 14 pre-baby and now a size 12.... so result!

Loving the Tilly bag Esher, was never a handbag person before.......this thread has converted me Also given me the motivation to return to work.... I need to start a clothes shopping fund £££

VerityBrulee · 01/02/2010 22:07

This thread is speeding along!

Sorry to hear of your little angels, I lost my first, a late miscarraige, and there is no pain like it. I have 3 beautiful healthy children now who I appreciate more than they know. Even when they are driving me crazy.

Happy Birthday Georgina

I started a thread about Made in Heaven jeans, but no replys! Has anyone tried them, what's the sizing like? these are the ones I like.

Love that Jaegar bag, yummy colour.

Not had any MiH jeans Verity but they look lush - where is the price though? Couldn't see it.

Well done on weight loss Simbob!

eshermummy · 01/02/2010 22:21

Verity - I've got some MiH jeans(I think). Think mine are Paris crops.
I bought a size 28 because my usual 27 seemed too tight in the shop but now I think the 28 is too big and the 27 would have been fine .
I am usually a 27 (sometimes a 26). Does that help at all
Mine seem to have a lot of stretch in them, hence their now being too big.

VerityBrulee · 01/02/2010 22:22

It's the colour that I love hana! I saw a girl wearing a beautiful shade of blue jeans a while ago, I'm kicking myself I didn't ask her where she got them. I don't like faded looking blues.

They are in the sale at Me&Em, I suppose I can always send them back....

I was informed today that it is not spring.

Is it??

And if not, when???

OP posts:
Fleecy · 01/02/2010 22:59

Sorry to those of you who have suffered a loss I'm amazed how many here have - it's my worst fear.

My Dad is seriously ill and that's terrifying enough!

Verity - koodos.com do lots of reduced MiH jeans at good prices. I've never shopped there but worth a look to see if they have anything in the colour you like.

Hana - Next have some similar shoes for £30 here

Night all!

Fleecy · 01/02/2010 23:01

Oh, I believe spring is officially March/April/May but I'm not entirely sure who decrees this

simbob · 01/02/2010 23:17

Spring starts March 20th apparently??? But in the fashion world its Spring, right??

Maybe try these for nude patents"

LetThemEatCake · 01/02/2010 23:35

Dammit, Chloe. I was sure it was already spring

Oh well, it's the 'tood and the mood what counts, eh.

Now, HH. Have been thinking about your funky t-shirt brief. What do you mean by funky? I bought this the other day, which I love but other places to look might be Oasis - (I am quite taken with [http://www.oasis-stores.com/Paris-L'amore-Tee/All-Tops/oasis/fcp-product/3190278219 this]]). Passing through Debenham's on Sunday I noticed these which might be quite nice in a "basic black tee with a bit of detail" kind way.

For MM and others looking for a trans-seasonal jacket - I thought i'd link to this

Burning well done on sending the tees back! I had a moment with my sweater today of "oh but I could just keep it anyway..." No!! Spending wildly but wisely, that's us!!

fab jeans esher they suit my mental picture of you. Also love the Jaeger bag and can't wait for you to get your Rats!!!

Tracey I am honoured and flattered to be your friend . More to the point, what shop and what were you doing in there???

Well done on the size 10 Simbob and on the lookout for shoes for you hana - have only seen towering ones so far. Those RS ones are nice though!! do you think you need brown feet to wear nude shoes?

Sorry about your dad Fleecy.

Okay, I hope I have not missed anything but forgive me if so. Have just been watching 24 and am feeling slightly edgy...
