Ladies, welcome to Spring

LetThemEatCake · 02/02/2010 08:24

oh dear, last to post last night and first to post this morning Got up dead early to get ahead with laundry etc before the dcs woke up and I have to contend with the sh*tfight of the nursery run ... am so ahead of the game that I have time to log on

So today am wearing 7 jeans and the red Twenty8Twelve t-shirt that I linked to in my previous post, layered over l/s black AV tee and black Ash high tops. DH said I looked like the au pair. Since we don't have an au pair, I am taking this to mean that I look like mutton dressed as lamb young.

Hope everyone has a good day. One year today since I got the shock of my life in a shopping centre public toilet - dc3 on the way!!!

by which I mean, the positive pregnancy test. Not, ahem, conception.

Ha ha LTEC - as if a stylish lady like you would be doing the humpty in a public toilet!

Am going to bid on the Alannah Hill flapper dress and leave it in the hands of the Gods as to whether I get it or not. Have always wanted one of these style dresses and its the loveliest I have seen: some are just glam sacks, which do not flatter rounded curvy ladies like me.

You can tell I only have one LO, I am always the last to get dressed on this thread . I am also the mother to a non sleeper though so I do spend a lot of time thinking about clothes in the middle of the night.

LTEC Laughed out loud at your post .

Not had time to look at the jackets yet but will do now.

I need some nice sandals too. I have loads but am planning another cull on the S/S wardrobe. I usually get a few pairs of the gold and silver ones from New Look which are super comfortable, cost £10 and get me lots of compliments. I bought a beautiful pair of soft black leather thong style sandals last spring in Italy with beautiful beading around the ankle. They were very expensive but I was in love. And then we got back and I saw a rip off pair in New Look .

[MM whipsers] Do any of you wear Birkenstocks? I always thought of them as the anthesis of style but bought a white pair last year and they were very ahem, comfortable and almost hidden under wide legged linen trousers.

As spring is approaching I have to admit to a "problem" which may be of use to others. I am monkeysmama and I am a sunglasses addict . I have [ahem] 24 pairs in my sunglasses wardrobe. I am a true Italian! I am looking for two new pairs this year; a bling tastic gold pair and a pair of silver framed every day ones.

It's pouring with rain here so don't know why I am dreaming of S/S.

I am going to wear my grey Baxters with a long lilac tunic with bell sleeves and a grey/silver scarf and my new Gap pea coat and my brogues. A bit grey but that's how I feel today.

Have a good day everyone.

P.S Nudie jeans - what do you want to know? Mine are ancient and we have only been reacquainted since last wardrobe cull but they're lovely. Very flattering.

hellsbelles · 02/02/2010 09:13

oh bunny - poor you - hopefully the flapper dress will cheer you up if it becomes yours.

I have been up for much of the night as DD seemed to wake every 20 mins - yet another cold thanks to Gymboree! So I look a bit haggard.

So to cheer myself up I've worn red anglomania top but stayed true to my goth roots (!) with black long sleeved AV tee, black tights and a charcoal jersey mini skirt. DH did his default 'oh is that Alexander McQueen?' reaction...which he does whenever I make an effort - but he must know that I cannot seriously buy Alexander McQueen (except for a couple of McQ dresses)....

I wasn't a proper goth of course (so goth roots is a bit of an overstatment). I just looked nice in black - never bothered with all that unflattering pale make up

LTEC - - that could have ruined our image of you...public toilets indeed! However you do sound very gorgeous today.

bunnymother · 02/02/2010 09:19

Oh boo hoo - got outbid on the Alannah Hill flapper dress!! Very disappointed, I really wanted it! And they bid in the last 30 seconds - oooh, fighting dirty!

Thanks, MM - will have a look at the New Look sandals. I love metallic shoes, but they have to be comfortable (have some gorgeous ones that have to go as cut into my feet).

CHOOGIRL · 02/02/2010 09:19

Morning ladies - quick one for me before my first meeting. Dinner was lovely. Went to Coq d'Argent in the City with old friend. One of those evenings where you can both flirt, but know that nothing will happen as a result iyswim.

LTEC I have the Paris t-shirt which I intend to wear layered with a white longsleeve t-shirt. I don't normally shop in Oasis but I had an unwanted xmas present which I swapped. Was pleasantly surprised with their SS10 collection.

What do you think of this for sunday lunch with DP's family members.

Will check in at lunch-time before I nip out to buy said KM dress.

BurningBuntingFlipFlop · 02/02/2010 09:19

Morning all. Waiting for ds to finish his krispies then dropping him off at nursery.

I am wearing charcoal jersey trousers, that strippy short sleeved gap cashmere jumper and reiss waterfall cardi. Doesn't look right at all. Comfortable and warm though. Just wondering what shoes i'm going to put on, do a single pair of shoes actually look right with jersey trousers? i don't think so.

To the ones with small dc, when do you get ready? Do you get up super early before they do? Think that's where i go wrong, i wait until the eleventh hour to get up then flap about trying to sort them out and get dressed..

BurningBuntingFlipFlop · 02/02/2010 09:23

were they these new look sandals

if so i got them the other day and they're rather nice!

Fleecy · 02/02/2010 09:23

MM thanks for the info on your Nudie jeans - I'd not come across them before but really liked that pair on my-wardrobe so thought I'd ask. Glad you said they're flattering - that's what I'm after!

I am the very height of style in Nike joggers, Nike studio vest and Nike air trainers - now off to dance class. I shall return, sweaty and dishevelled, in a little while...

All this talk of naughtiness in public places is too much for me

Bunting I often get dressed around 12:30 . Dd naps until 11ish usually and then we get up and have a messy proper lunch and get dressed after that unless we're going out before lunch. On Fridays & at weekends when dp is around we're dressed by 10 though. It's just me who is slovenly.

bunnymother · 02/02/2010 09:28

CHOOGirl - love purple and it looks like a flattering cut and like the trim material.

Mimi1977 · 02/02/2010 09:28

Morning all,

I love my birkinstocks MM - got quite a few pairs (Gold, red patent and white) like you I find them so so comfy.

Love the dress Choogirl. Really love it!

I'm wearing Gap jeans and a grey cropped cardigan - planning on doing finger painting with DD in a minute and cleaning (tres glam!) so leaving my best clothes in the wardrobe.

Still awaiting hush order. Do hope it comes this morning.

I've only got one dd Burning so usually get ready first thing after breakfast with her sat on my knee at my dressing table. She loves nothing more than delving in my make up drawer! Not sure how I'll manage when another comes along though.

bunnymother · 02/02/2010 09:32

BBFF - I shower while DD has her first nap. Which is now .

BTW am watching SATC, where Carrie meets Big at the Boat House in Central Park (they fall in the pond together, remember??). Reminds me of the afternoon DH and I spent a sunny afternoon there getting drunk chatting. 'Twas the week we conceived DD, so v special time.

BurningBuntingFlipFlop · 02/02/2010 09:33

CHOO - like that dress. I find KM dresses are usually ver flattering.

Just remembered i have a christening to go to on Sunday. I'm trying to resist the temptation to get something new (as i always do!)

MarshaBrady · 02/02/2010 09:33

Hello all, not much to report. Took delivery of Nobody jeans (going back sizing all wrong, pooh) and Black Rats yesterday (undecided). I mean the second look good enough.. but I'm thinking I'll get more wear out of Current\Elliot jean legging things. Tis a bit boring to be sensible like that, hence the indecision.

Also I need to haul my butt up to Liberty soon to spend £400 credit notes / voucher collection. I feel like I can't concentrate on Spring buying until I know what I am getting there.

Everyone is looking fabulous of course. I have decided to get highlights (at Aveda, so quite natural) but need to work out how to do it with such a tiny baby.

MarshaBrady · 02/02/2010 09:36

Oh and am wearing the warmest colours in my wardrobe. A purple and warm red striped Sonia Rykiel dress / wolford tights.

And went for first run on Sunday... still can't walk properly...

traceybath · 02/02/2010 10:13

Morning All.

Well I have 3 dc's and need to be out the house by 8am to get eldest to school so we all get up at 6.30am and I bath etc whilst they're eating breakfast which DH gives them if he's around. It is a rush though so everyting for everyone is laid out the night before.

Today I'm wearing baxters, ancient navy whistles top and white co winter white long cardigan. Comfy and cosy.

Marsha - are the black rats very shiney and what would you wear them with?

Choo - pretty dress.

mrsjuan · 02/02/2010 10:14

Morning everyone, I've got a bit behind - so sorry to that so many of you have had such sad experiences . Of course you should be able to talk about it on such a friendly thread. It puts things in perspective when I'm worrying about what jeans size I am .

Am feeling quite funky today in layered white & green hollister t shirts, skinny jeans and converse. Seeing colour lady tonight. Very nervous! I have illusions of her putting me in one of those 3 way Gok mirrors and fondling me a la Trinny and Susannah

Marsha - I am planning on getting my highlights put back in too - it was getting ridiculously blonde and hard to maintain before so went back to brown while I was pregnant. I like Aveda ones too but the salon that does that near me is rubbish at cutting so wondering what to do. Can't face 2 long hairdresser visits.

Hope everyone has a good day. Pouring with rain here.

traceybath · 02/02/2010 10:26

MM I am with you on the sunglasses - currently wearing Tom Ford Jennifers but want some bigger ones this summer.

LTEC am impressed at doing test in a public loo - did you have hysterics - I did after finding out about our surprise no 3.
