Ladies, welcome to Spring

OP posts:
Fleecy · 11/02/2010 12:22

tracey I prefer those clogs to the shoes yesterday, although they have a similar look. I even quite like them

So can I ask, do you all have lovely stylish houses too? And do your OHs dress well?

Or is it just a clothes thing for you?

mrsjuan · 11/02/2010 12:24

Gosh - I've been away less than 24 hours and it's taken me nearly 20 minutes to catch up!

DD & I are staying at my parents house while DH is off on his jetsets. I had been looking forward to being back in the warmer south east but it's just as cold here as it was oop north.

PSML at cakey being compared to Cilla Black!and very of all these model looka likes. I've never been told I look like anyone but my sister used to look exactly like Scarlett Johansen when they were both younger.

BBFF - so sorry to hear about your mum. Glad it sounds like she's on the mend now. That must have been scary for you

Choo - glad you've got your DD home.

esher - you have my sympathies. I had a seemingly never ending bout of conjunctivitis a few years ago. Every time I thought it had finished and I'd replaced all my eye make up etc. it came back with a vengence. I ended up crying in the chemist at one point

With regard to weight loss & bfeeding. I lost most of my baby weight within the first week and then lost the rest when I cut down on feeds and introduced a few bottles feeding her so that ties in with other's experiences. The whole feeding thing was very stressful for us though anyway so that may have had something to do with it.(I think I've put a bit back on since Christmas though - grrrr)

Sorry for any typos. My parent's computer has a few keyboard issues.

carciofi · 11/02/2010 12:31

Esher, hope you are better in time for your night out!

Vogue had a nice Russell and Bromley pair of clogs, £80-ish.

My DH is a Ralph Lauren shirt/chinos or jeans guy and has no interest in clothes (just as well, he says, or we'd be in the poor house). We are renting and while it is a nice flat, I don't feel like spending loads on it as we will probably be moving abroad in the next couple of years and leaving all our furniture. So for me, it's clothes.

Just ordered the green splendid t-shirt at my-wardobe, free delivery and 25% off is pretty good.

hellsbelles · 11/02/2010 13:04

carciofi help! Can you link to the white one? I just can't find it and do need another one!

hellsbelles · 11/02/2010 13:10

ignore me....don't know how i missed it!

hellsbelles · 11/02/2010 13:15

esher....poor you!

Fleecy - my DH is a very good dresser (I think). He's addicted to Alexander McQueen. He used to get so cross with me as I refused to spend money on my clothes even after we started to be a little less broke.

He wore me down eventually and is possibly regretting opening up the floodgates now

House is o.k...but I'm too lazy to make it super stylish.

Tracey - I love those clogs. Tempted as usual.

traceybath · 11/02/2010 13:40

My DH is in serious need of sartorial help - hoping he'll have a bit of money to play with soon for a trip to selfridges.

House is rented as all our money was invested in dh's business (scarey emoticon) but should hopefully buy somewhere this year and then I will go into a frenzy of farrown and ball paint colours.

Oh and DD is fun to dress after two boys - the whole polo shirt/shorts/jeans thing does get a little dull.

Oh j brand 7/8's arrived and they're fab - actually too long on me to be 7/8 more ankle length but look good with sandals.

I really really want the swedish has beens but they're £154 which is a lot when I've never tried them on. But can't find any stockists in the UK. I also want them in the natural colour and they don't have them in my size so will resist for the time being.

Hells - what jeans does your DH wear - my DH is v tall and fairly slim and struggles to find jeans long enough.

hellsbelles · 11/02/2010 13:50

Tracey - I know what you mean about dressing DD's - it such a treat after trying to get excited about jeans and tee-shirts for 6 years!

Great that the 7/8ths are good. I keep forgetting to put on my wishlist!

Will check DH's jeans later but they are some fiendishly expensive Japanese brand. Having said that he is NOT v. tall (just a bit taller than me) so any styles that suit him probably wouldn't for your DH (actually thinking about it Japanese brands are rubbish for tall people aren't they)

We went Farrow and Ball crazy when we moved (and the other brand - can't remember what they are called but some sort of franchise). And have to admit the colours are beautiful.

Zembo · 11/02/2010 13:51

Tracy can fully understand wanting to try the hasbeens on - i just received my Castaners - they look great but keep slipping off when walking as the strap at the back isn't quite tight enough. I'm going to have to return them

BUT have been looking at these diamond studs so might order them instead with the 25% off offer. Have been looking for some tiny ones for everyday wear.

I have a totally unstylish DH but do aspire to a stylish home/lifestyle - still a long way off it at the moment.

hellsbelles · 11/02/2010 13:52

Me again (trying to distract myself as DD is refusing to go to sleep and is jabbering away in her cot).

Just realised I should ask my younger brother about jeans as he is very cool and also tall and skinny (my other brother is 6ft 4 and although the gorgeous one of the family could not really be described as cool).

carciofi · 11/02/2010 13:52

Hells, sorry, I wandered off for a while. Did you order the t-shirt? It is so nice and soft.

Tracey, my dh is also tall and wears Paper Denim Cloth jeans.

monkeysmama · 11/02/2010 14:04

Cakey I've spent almost an hour looking for black boots in your size & have found sweet fa. I'm sorry. I'm going into Gr now so will have a look in Bullfrogs as they often have good sales & may have something interesting.

My house is beautiful . It is lived in but everything in it has been thought about if that makes sense. I had a very happy but very unaffluent childhood and now feel lucky to live where I do & have such a lovely home for my little family.

My dp wears good clothes, lots of Boss, Smedley, some Carhart recently and a smattering of Paul Smith (aside from work gear which is all Armani or Hackett) but is fat and it doesn't look as good as it should. I can't believe I've written that though 'tis true. He's started some new fitness regime though so I'm expecting an Adonis by summer . Nudie jeans are good for tall men as are Timberland ones. Armani do a longer range too. My dad is very into clothes & 6"6 & wears Armanis.

I like the clogs you linked to but those Hasbeens are funny! They look comfy but a bit, um clunky? Sorry Tracey. Sure I'll eat my words soon.

carciofi · 11/02/2010 14:07

What do you think of this?

carciofi · 11/02/2010 14:08

MM and Hells, your men sound very stylish!

monkeysmama · 11/02/2010 14:18

I really like it Carciofi.

My dp is wonderful but needs restyling. I am going to try & convince him about the personal shopping at Selfridges (thanks very much for idea!) & convince him it'll be fun to do together.

Any ideas on an outfit for Claridges to sit in the kitchen tmrw?

Do you all do anything for Valentines?

hellsbelles · 11/02/2010 14:25

MM - have you got any short sleeved or sleeveless dresses/tops that you could wear with a light jacket or cardigan? So you can strip off as the heat rises.

We are rubbish about valentines. Card each and that's about it. pre DC we made more of an effort!

traceybath · 11/02/2010 14:26

MM - just looked at your profile - you are gorgeous and your DD is totally edible.

Am not doing anything for valentines - in fact DH looked a little surprised as I was so not into doing anything. He did ask if there was anything I wanted but as I've bought a few (loads) of stuff recently - I can't really justify anything.

Had forgotten its half term next week so busy setting up lots of things to keep eldest ds busy.

Thanks for jeans suggestions am off to take a look.

I would love to have a personal shopping session - would be good to get someone else to suggest stuff.

monkeysmama · 11/02/2010 14:37

Tracey you've made my day. I don't feel very beautiful but thank you very much. And yes, my dd is really rather special .

Hells I do but am not sure if it's smart or gla
or what?

Fleecy · 11/02/2010 15:07

thanks all for humouring me with my nosiness. My DH doesn't really care what he wears, lives in jeans and shirts or t-shirts. But I think he's hot so it doesn't really matter

I would love to have a beautiful home - we're lucky in that we have a big house but it's a 1980s build on a very suburban estate. We bought it 2yrs ago and are slowly bringing it up to date but it's expensive! We have done our kitchen (very stylish white gloss with this paper at the breakfast bar end).

And our dining room is F&B's Eating room red - it's a gorgeous colour for an evening room.

Bathroom/en-suite/cloakroom next on the list - currently coloured suites and 80s tiles...

I know it's a bit off topic but what do you all think of this?

We never do Valentine's Day. Although it's 10yrs tomorrow since we got together so we're celebrating that with takeaway and wine

BurningBuntingFlipFlop · 11/02/2010 15:15

Hi guys,

Just got in from seeing mum. I shattered from flying around everywhere today. Luckily just got dd in tow, ds is in nursery today.

My mum's dh is useless (although lovely) so i've been to m&s getting her prepared fruit etc and comfortable pjs, (she's going to have a horrible scar because they couldn't do keyhole as it was such an emergency) books and smellies. The ward she's on is awful. The staff don't seem to give a damn - my mum is shocked she's a nurse but hasn't worked on a ward in 20 years. Just want her out of there, the woman in the bed next to her caught mrsa when she was in there 6 months ago.

I've ordered this Winter Kate cardigan a few days ago, do you like?

Hells, my dh loves AMQ too, i bought him a cashmere jumper for christmas, it was the most i've ever spent on a single item of clothes! I'm sure i would have appreciated it more than he did though!

I ordered that blood red nicole richie love note scarf from US by the way, it's just arrived and it so lovely, perfect for Valentine's day.

RipMacWinkle · 11/02/2010 15:20

Did you guys see my other link about AMQ?

Tragic news - such a talent.
