Ladies, welcome to Spring

LOL fear not, I did NOT buy the zebra dress, was a momentary blip of "oooh. could this work?" induced by late night working, too much bfing and the fact that I bought that gorgeous strapless snakeskin number the other week ... to my knowledge I have never bought River Island, let's keep it that way folks.

zembo lovely shoes but I fear you'd not get the wear out of them if you eschew bare legs (such a shame, yummy colour with brown legs and feet) , I wouldn't advise wide legs but maybe a straight leg? tracey will be better able to tell you on that one!

gorgeous dress Plum hope you are having a wonderful time!!

off to the homeopath, looking forward to checking in later

Oh my god, those hotpants!!!

OP posts:
Zembo · 09/02/2010 10:04

Thanks LTEC - I fear the same, and is a shame as I have the brown legs and feet as my natural colouring! I missed out on a black pair on ebay - forgot to bid and they didn't sell so could still contact the buyer, but black for summer????

Wasn't sure about the coloured flecky bits on the wedge - do you have the black ones? Whats the sizing like?

Also got the Plumo knitwear pin (can't link as sold out) for my travelwrap but its really quite wide bore so will only be suitable for chunky knits

traceybath · 09/02/2010 10:27

Zembo - I don't do wide legs - just make me look dumpy. Do like the sandals but again I find ankle straps not particularly flattering as they shorten my legs.

Think am going to order the jigsaw orange scarf as think it will go well with bright pink, navy and white which I wear a lot of.

Right - today am starting to take photos of stuff to ebay. Sister and I are going to brave doing a carboot sale in march in village mum lives in but some of my old stuff is too nice for carboot I think. All proceeds will go towards a shopping trip to London and a pair of shoes.

LTEC - like the scarf.

Plum - god I wish I was somewhere hot.

For white jeans wearers - topshop have now got baxters in white - may order some too.

GeorginaWorsley · 09/02/2010 11:28

plum am in Lanzarote next week so hope it stays warm
I need to assess my summer wardrobe now, feels strange when it is so cold here today.
ltec great scarf.I love a bit of animal print myself.

VerityBrulee · 09/02/2010 11:56

Soooo envious of those of you in/about to go to the sun, I just got caught in a snowstorm when out at the shops. I don't think I can stand this cold much longer.

I have upped my fashion game considerably since my mummy shock on sunday, ditching jeans for a few days makes me work harder outfit wise.

Did anyone else watch 'The September Issue' on Sunday night? I recorded it and watched it yesterday, very inspiring! I have been collecting US Vogue since I was about 14, when you could only buy it in one shop in Dublin. It's still my favourite. One of the editors Tonne Goodman, always wears white jeans, it's her trademark, when I saw her I thought of Tracey. It's a great look if you've got the legs

There are white straightlegs on Boden I wonder what the fit is like. Of course a bit of sun helps complete the look

LOL at the zebra, I have a pair of J Crew zebra ballet flats - they'd look good with white jeans too actually

LetThemEatCake · 09/02/2010 12:53

Zembo I do have the black ones and I love the gold flecks in the wedge. I think Choo runs true to size - am a 42 and Choos are comfortable, even when high.

Louboutins on the other hand - ouch.

they look great with maxi dresses - would be a much better choice than wide-legged trousers - and yes, I think petite ladies can do maxis - as geordie says, look at Nicole Richie. Just avoid anything too billowing I think, I also think black fine for summer, there's not much strappage on those shoes so minimal black really. Although tracey says the ankle straps are leg-shortening, so beware of that!!

these are also very nice and available in your size.

and only one left in your size in these!!

sorry about the dragonfly have you found something else yet?

definitely go for the scarf tracey - good luck with the ebaying... it's soul destroying but worthwhile ..

have been having a think about what else I need for SS and have decided against white jeans (3 young children constantly clinging to my legs - disaster) I do desperately need new jeans - straight legs I think - but will hold off until at goal weight. No more dresses until I have whittled my 35-plus collection down to a more acceptable number. I would really like some more printed tees as i feel weirdly good in this one so any suggestions welcome.

lol at not knowingly buying from River Island.

ltec / TB quick question. Do you have the SA Run bra? did you just buy same size as maternity/feeding bra? My mind is going bonkers trying to figure out which SA to get...

Will come back look for stuff / tshirts later...

RipMacWinkle · 09/02/2010 15:07

tracey - do you wear the 30" baxters?

Also, Do you find them flattering? I used to wear lots of TS jeans but stopped after having DS as I found them pretty low cut which did me no favours.

geordieminx · 09/02/2010 15:12

I keep thinking about baxters too but fear that they would do my cs over-hang no favours

Have been and bought f&f maxi - tis lovely, be fab for hols, really light, and wont crumple. The halter bit can be worn in a few different ways too, depending on bust.

Tell me that I dont need these please....

Also bought a couple of breton t's from primarni - £2 each, so total bargin.

traceybath · 09/02/2010 16:19

Geordie - those shoes are very nice indeed.

Rip - I wear the 30 and petite length baxters - like to think the petite ones are sort of 7/8ths.

Geordie - I find baxters come quite high up but then I'm very short waisted.

Am going to order the white ones and may purchase The september issue on dvd.

Am going to real shops tomorrow to check out the jigsaw scarf.

VerityBrulee · 09/02/2010 16:54

Hana, I saw it at the cinema, but great to have a recording so you can replay the best bits. They all had pretty bad skin didn't they, but then I wonder how my own skin would look in HD, I'm sure I would be I LOVE Grace Coddington, what an imagination. I had a lot of sympathy for Anna in the end, for the most powerful woman in fashion she doesn't seem very happy.

Tracey you would love it! Like that scarf btw

Geordie I've ditched my baxters, but I got a beautiful azure blue pair of skinnies in topshop last week, they have a much higher waist and look better on me, not to mention more comfortable.

Fleecy · 09/02/2010 17:57

Afternoon all. I went jeans shopping today - pre-DC I was 28/34 in Top Shop. But now... my hips are wider than they were and I couldn't even get the Baxters over them in a 30 waist!

Luckily the Jamie super skinny 28/32 was perfect so I have them in this colour and they fit beautifully. I think it's because they have stretch so go over the hips then pop back in nicely around the waist Not sure Top Shop is really made for curvy girls!

Tried on lots of lovely jeans in other places and will now be avidly searching eBay to buy them cheaply!

choogirl I'm not there any more either - I left three years ago and have been freelance ever since. Although, if you know JAG, I now do some writing for her current place of work. It's a small world!

LetThemEatCake · 09/02/2010 17:57

marsha I bought these in my usual size.

OP posts:
RipMacWinkle · 09/02/2010 18:05

Thanks Tracey. I guess I'll need to head into one of the bigger shops to try them and the Jamies out.

Am 5 ft with short legs and also have the 2 CS over-hang. Am around my fighting weight (what's a few lbs between pals) but everything is a bit more squidgy atm.

God I sound lovely

KristinaM · 09/02/2010 18:07

marsha - i also have the shock absorber bra, in my usual size

i find it excellent and i have big norks. but i don't do high impact exercise so not testing it to the full IYSWIM

hellsbelles · 09/02/2010 18:51

I love the September issue too. A bit sad how Anna W's daughter was determined to make it very clear that she would never do something as 'superficial' at edit Vogue...while enjoying all benefits her mother's job had bought - including the gorgeous surroundings of their Hamptons summer house.

I'm so so desperate to buy something. Literally having to force myself not to I need to wait for more of the s/s stuff to appear before I choose. Ummm.

monkeysmama · 09/02/2010 18:58

Hey girls

Back from fabulous Paris and just marking my place for later.

Is it a bit to admit that I thought of you all quite a few times as I wandered in and out of Princesse Tam Tam and Antik Batik.

I have a new grey leather jacket (and a navy one )! Links and other shopping news from Paris later.

MM

hellsbelles · 09/02/2010 19:09

oh MM - welcome back - looking forward to the links

Does anyone else like this I'm very drawn to it (perhaps because it's almost identical to my alice & james top!)

traceybath · 09/02/2010 19:21

MM - hope you had a lovely time and do tell on your purchases

Hells - I love that dress - have seen it a few times in magazines and think its fab.

MarshaBrady · 09/02/2010 19:23

Hells absolutely love that dress too.

MM looking forward to links glad you had a fab time.

hellsbelles · 09/02/2010 19:24

err? who are alice and james. I meant elizabeth and james!

Tracey - I've signed up on her website as I can't be bothered to go out and actually find it in the shops but I do love it.

traceybath · 09/02/2010 19:31

So have I Hells . Am presuming it'll be on NAP too.

The only thing that put me off slightly was I saw a photo of Daisy Lowe wearing it and I'm not a fan of hers. Too grungey for my tastes
