there was one guy who was telling everyone he was a plumber when in fact he is head of risk for a well known bank [snort]

one girl who didn't turn up is apparently married to fred the shred and is in hiding

thats a business that DEFINITELY needs good PR people

KristinaM I still have those scars. If I tell you I have worked in a large complex near a golf course just off the A8 you will understand.

LetThemEatCake · 08/02/2010 22:51

glad DD is better CHOO ... you do make me laugh with your sartorial observations from her bedside .. I saw some shockers at Beckenham Spa soft play today too and only hope that my face didn't register my disapproval opinion too openly

I never saw those shoes in silver .. probably lucky. I love a bit of metallic. Did you get the Atomic Tulip dress BTW, how did it come up?

I am plugging away with the best intentions in the world tonight - deadline this week ... but god, I am just ITCHING to buy something!! I'd be a shocking smoker.

LetThemEatCake · 08/02/2010 22:53

LTEC OMG Beckenham Spa you are brave. DD was at a party there a couple of weeks ago. Have you tried Gambados? They have free internet and I believe they have started serving wine in the cafe.

Fleecy · 08/02/2010 23:01

choogirl I'm a copywriter specialising in Financial Services - and used to do a lot of work for that particular company a few years back.

Where are you based?

CHOOGIRL · 08/02/2010 23:05

Fleecy I wonder if you have ever done anything for me?? I am not with them any longer but had an office in London, and travelled quite a bit.

LetThemEatCake · 08/02/2010 23:35

made it as far as the door of Gambados a few weeks back CHOO but it was a wet weekend and waaay too packed for me to contemplate ... must try again though.

My kids love B.Spa ... that party room is dire though!

oh well, you will be glad he's phil hall's problem now and not yours

LetThemEatCake · 09/02/2010 00:04

just packing up for the night and suddenly seized by a need - a need I tell you - for something in zebra.

Had a brief flirtation with the idea of buying this but ended up plumping for this

well if nothing else, it'll be handy for discreet breastfeeding.

Look good with the rats or un po' troppo?

Hi LTEC and CHOO - quick visit to your thread as must get ready for work.

I too have been eyeing up the Tiz wedges - these to be precise.

They're only available in my size but a little uncertain about how much wear I'd get out of them due to the colour. If they were red I'd have bought them ages ago.

Also, I seem to think choos are true to size - am I right?..and are they comfortable???

What do you think ladies - I'm crap at the styling thing, how could I style this spring/summer to get the wear out of them to justify the price.

Zembo · 09/02/2010 06:08

Link should be for the mango coloured ones. Ta

PCPlumIsMyHomeboy · 09/02/2010 07:52

Ladies, I'm MNetting live from Lanzarote! (before DH gets up and rolls his eyes at me!)

It's 25 degrees and sunny or will be in about an hour, so todays outfit will be the strapless version of this:

F&F

with orange Havaianas for the beach, and brown Pierre Hardy for GAP glads and lashings of gold jewellery later on.

Hope y'all are good, will have a read and catch on thread now, just wanted to post/check in before I got tutted at and had to go off line.

Zembo · 09/02/2010 08:01

Lucky you PCPlum enjoy!

Just to add re: styling the Tiz wedges - I don't do the above knee dress and bare legs look so was thinking wide legged linen trousers? although am only about 5ft1 so usually avoid wide leg trousers. Traceybath - seem to remember you're petite too - what do you reckon?

geordieminx · 09/02/2010 08:38

PCPlum - I love that dress, its in my basket for our trip to Tenerife in May Have a lovely day! We stayed in near the Rubicon Marina last time we were there - Cafe del Mar brings back lots of hazy lovely memories!

Kristina - coffee in that kitchen sounds fab - as long as I bring a straight jacket for ds. Is your 3yo a dd or ds?

Zembo - love the choos - esp in Mango, although my only reservation is that you wouldnt be able to see them in their full glory with wide legs trousers? Still yummy though, and you could always wear them for bed

Dont buy the RI dress LTEC - You know how much I love animal print but thats not nice -Its probably a fire hazard

Got mum coming up for a few days here so rare night out with dh tomorrow as I'm at uni tonight. He has been dropping hints about going to see Avatar... which I have been ignoring. I really dont want to spend a child free night sitting in the pics for 2 1/2 hours

OllieWollieWoo · 09/02/2010 08:58

OOoh - lovely dress PCPlum! Can't wait for summer to be wafting around in dresses and flipflops! And totally understand re secret mumsnetting - I usually borrow DH's phone to erm 'check the weather' when we are away (obviously checking MN!)

Zembo · 09/02/2010 08:59

PCPlum - that maxi dress is gorgeous.

geordieminx guessing you're petite too from your name, I've not managed to do the maxi look (worried it might overwhelm me)- maybe i need some wedges

DH would be very happy indeed if i wore them to bed

LTEC - like the scarf, but sorry not the dress.

geordieminx · 09/02/2010 09:05

Yup - short arse here too. I have a couple of maxi dresses that I tend to wear with a cropped denim jacket, sandals, although usually need to have them taken up a bit so they dont trail on the ground if wearing flats. In my head I look like Nicole Ritchie, but in reality probably look more like dopey from the 7 dwarves!

I also like this from F&F, its quite sheer, and has cute wee gold buttons on the shoulders.

(((dashes off to tesco before maxi dress is out of stock))))

OllieWollieWoo · 09/02/2010 09:06

Just been browsing on the Tescos website inspired by PC Plums dress and saw these (my eyes, my eyes!) Have I been away from the UK too long - do people wear such things there now???? Shudder!
here

hellsbelles · 09/02/2010 09:07

Plum - enjoy - I bet you are looking delicious in that fab dress and enjoying the sunshine. Very very jealous

I too am pining for orange - I have a 5 year old DVF orange sun dress (not wrap)...every time I wear it DH goes in to compliment overdrive (perhaps because it's relatively short?!).

Geordie - DH took DS to see Avatar and loved it so much he wants to go again with me He is a massive film snob - normally it has to be subtitled or deeply dark to pass muster....so I'm assuming Avatar must be good for him to rave about it!

hellsbelles · 09/02/2010 09:09

ollie! I have those

i do love that Plum dress though. urghhh - I promised myself no more spending for a bit but it is such a bargain

OllieWollieWoo · 09/02/2010 09:12

Go on buy it HB. I think its lovely and looks like it would cost a lot more than that iykwim. Also - at that price you coudl get away with just wearing it a few times and not feeling guilty - ie use the old cost per wear justification method!! (and you could always wear said hotpants underneath it and noone would ever know but you! )

OllieWollieWoo · 09/02/2010 09:15

I love Orange too - but living in Holland there is a lot of it around esp on national holidays and during World Cup etc as its the national colour! I brought a lovley orange dress when I had a good tan and they went to wear it a month of so later and it looked terrible on me! Now prefer to use it for accents (is that the right fashiony word for a splash of orange here and there!!)
