Ladies, welcome to Spring

OP posts:
Fleecy · 05/02/2010 23:15

Just popped in to catch up - have also spent my evening drinking red wine (and scoffing crisps and chocolate biscuits!) but I have been trying to teach DH my dance class moves. Without much success. Was funny though!

hana if you don't like heels, could you do metallic flat sandals for wedding?

Anyway, all this wine has made me sleepy so I must now retire. Especially since DH is off out tomorrow night and will no doubt wake me up when 'trying to be quiet' once he's home

MarshaBrady · 05/02/2010 23:27

Hi folks, have just poured a small glass of red. Ltec I hate that knotty feeling re inlaws, shitey mcshito huh. Think of the good stuff- shopping- to get you through.

Mine wanted to come on Sunday but unfortunately we will be in Liberty to finalise purchase (I know, it's a full on shopping affair with recce and everything - which is silly as £400 gets you bugger all one or two things at most).

Am watching Boogie Nights.

LetThemEatCake · 06/02/2010 00:21

marsha I love you. "Oh no sorry MiL, we can't see you Sunday, I'll be shopping at Liberty - some other time perhaps?"

The thought of Gollum's my MiL's face!!!!

Ha! I know, terrible. Normally I do the visits, but this was a self-invite. Just 'pop over and drop some stuff off' ach the worst kind.

Best of luck tomorrow my thoughts will be with you. Sneak to mn for moral support .

LetThemEatCake · 06/02/2010 00:38

in the words of Boney M ... iPhone in the loo, tra la la la la..

thanks love x

morning all - all that wine - I suspect a few hangovers all round.

LTEC - I was only teasing. I think it's good that I have a few things different to you . However have bottled out of rats for today and am resplendent in current current elliott jeggings (those things are practically glued to my thighs.

Good luck with MIL - why is such such a witch to you? Is her DH a PFB for her?

Hana - I am the same as you with heels but agree those are not quite special enough. I do find that even with my heel incompetence I can manage wedges. I know they aren't as glam as heels but you get the leg lengthening thing.

traceybath · 06/02/2010 10:51

Morning All.

Hells - good luck with the party. I've just made the light chocolate cake with butternut squash - very nice indeed to my DH's surprise.

Off to next soon to return a dress and jacket - why oh why do i bother ordering stuff from there - its always so cheap looking in the flesh.

Marsha - are you getting the shoes?

Am wearing denim mini, white long sleeved t and cropped blue cashmere cardigan. And the sun is shining again - yeay!

I had a glass of prosecco and then a glass of red last night and can really feel it today.

CHOOGIRL · 06/02/2010 11:59

Morning Ladies - another one with a poorly DD. She is in hospital with a viral infection so going backwards and forwards. She has her own room and I've asked the nurse if they had sky news and wi-fi. She reminded me it was the NHS I have my iphone, but still haven't managed to post with it yet.

Have been wearing 7FAM jeans, short uggs and White Co, grey cashmere cardicoat.

Love the Pure cashmere dress - I already have the Brora - would getting both be greedy?

Love the MyWardrobe Gladiator flats. I got these last summer, but not worn yet.
Could I justify another pair

Also just noticed the have the new collection at Matches including vintage Chanel.

Changed my mind about the Alexa - a little bit too small for me - so that's £695 towards my Hermes fund.

MarshaBrady · 06/02/2010 12:10

Sorry to hear your dd is ill Choogirl.

SO does anyone wear and enjoy black bppts??

Nice ones.. Are they high? I have an issue with black boots but these actually are narrow enough to fit the calf and dh loves them. Not sure...

TraceyB not sure yet, am dragging family to Liberty to decide what to get. (although the CLs are a separate purchase from NaP)

MarshaBrady · 06/02/2010 12:11

boots! eyes are fuzzy,

carciofi · 06/02/2010 13:50

Choogirl, sorry your DD is ill, hope she can go home soon. Nice sandals.

Marsha, I have Russell and Bromley black knee high boots and I wear them loads.

I still want the Alexa bag but I can't find it in stock anywhere.

DolceeBanana · 06/02/2010 14:30

Hi Choo...hope DD is better very soon - God we've all been through the mill this week...hence the copious consumption of vino collapso!

Also, v v envious of potential Hermes purchase - which one are you going for?

porridge - erm...yeah I do tea towels too - what do you call them in Austrailia then LTEC? Well, when I say 'I', I must admit that cleaner does them...DH would have a fit if he knew !!!!
Am with LTEC on hysterical laughing over your 'bird' indulgences...I bet they've got bloody names haven't they - don't tell me - Margot and Babs...
yeah traceybath, agree with you. 2 glasses of vino and I feel really crap the next day...
Anyway, haven't bought a bloody thing this weekend...!!!

DolceeBanana · 06/02/2010 14:33

What do you 'do' Choo? ...I'm intrigued...I mean I gather the Sky News qeury at l'hopital wasn't for your DD???

Hey LTEC - Hope the day with the ILs going alright...thinking of you ...!Sympathise as can't standnot absolutely in love with mine either...but at least they live in another country!! Yeah...only trouble is when we see them they come to stay and its a pain in the derriere...Can you believe they live in France and MIL is always carping on about never being able to find decent clothes there !!! What ?Well not like her fave English shops, Dotty Ps!!!

DolceeBanana · 06/02/2010 14:48

Hana Love the Breton dress!!! You are brave enough...its fab!And you said it's flattering - what more do you want?
Those shoes even look uncomfortable!!! Like the blouse too!!! Yes, wedges may be better...

blossoming · 06/02/2010 14:57

Hi all. Commiserationt on the IL front ltec. I moved closer to my mil so I wouln't have to go and stay there any more. At least now I know she'll be gone by 7 when she comes round.
Ladies, I'm a 14, only a 12 when I'm at my smoking weight, which is my target by summer (not to be a smoker again) but I've got another stone to go till then. How long can I go saying I've just had a baby? She's 4 months now.
Wonder where mrsjuan is in Wales. I'm sure I could spot one of you lot a mile off round these parts.
ltec I have aigle boy wellies, blue and white size 22 if you're interested (in being matchy matchy and one of yours has the same size feet ).
Now I've put my entire wardrobe on ebay, realised I've got nothing to wear to go out with dh next week. Would like a nice top to go with my paige skinnies. What do you think of this?

carciofi · 06/02/2010 15:05

I find LK Bennett shoes really uncomfortable.
Thanks Hana, will go and check it out with DD next week. I'd like to get it at my-wardrobe.com so I can get a discount but they can't tell me when it will be in stock.

Oasis have great clothes at the moment.

Just researching Sydney, we are thinking of applying for visas to move there. LTEC, might have a few questions for you!

carciofi · 06/02/2010 15:07

I like it, Blossoming.

blossoming · 06/02/2010 15:55

Thanks carciofi, I might buy it and see.
It might take me a while to sort things out but my toddler girls clothes will be mostly jeans and denim skirts and shorts, all from mini boden in the past two summers. All used but in good condition. I can't remember whether you're a mini boden fan or not. I'll take some photos and show them here first if you like. I'm really enjoying this sort out I'm doing. Hope I don't regret any of it later!

KristinaM · 06/02/2010 16:00

I spotted an Alexa bag in another Mulberry shop this morning

see, i am turning into an enabler and its YOUR FAULT

LetThemEatCake · 06/02/2010 17:17

afternoon ladies

well that's my duty discharged for another few weeks. Thanks for all your support. Nah, hells, he's not a PFB, he's the youngest and the only boy. So I have the older sisters to contend with too!! He was born after a long gap and was a 'surprise', conceived at a difficult time - so has always been regarded by MiL as a blessing, something that gave her a reason to go on ... and then along comes me, not only mouthy and non-trad but also - gasp!! - mixed race and from a different country!! Big thumbs down.

Anyhow ....

Choo - so sorry about your dd, poor mite. Will she be in overnight? I think you deserve a Pure dress, it's not like you won't get loads of wear out of it with work etc ... I ended up getting the blackcurrant, although I have enjoyed wearing my brown Tam Tam dress more than the purple one this winter ... I have failed miserably with boots this winter, have bought and sold no less than 5 pairs in my quest for the perfect ones ... ah well, maybe next winter. The metallic flats from my-wardrobe have sold out in my size I would have liked them ...

GUtted about the LK nude shoes Hana - metallic flat or wedge will be great and v.versatile though. The origami shirt is great but fgs woman, go back and get the dress, how much courage to do you need to wear something that is flattering???????

Blossoming I like that top with skinnies, but are they indigo, will you be a bit too samey colourwise? re the wellies, i do need new ones for ds, but not sure on sizes, his current ones are a 7 or 8 or something, what's 22??

carciofi how exciting, ask me anything you want!! Imagine if I get to have an MN friend in Sydney!!

Does anyone want this dress? I have it in charcoal and purple, both in a size M and want to sell one of them .. not really bothered which one goes and which one I keep. If anyone wants to buy one, give me a shout!!

okay, better dash, hope a good day is being had by all

OP posts:
carciofi · 06/02/2010 17:40

Blossoming, I do like MiniBoden so would be interested to see what you are selling. DD will be in size 2-3 for the summer.

And I need to sell a blue silk Cacharel dress, if anyone is interested! Size 12, never worn, labels still attached.

LTEC, glad you survived the visit. What neighbourhoods in Sydney would you recommend, fairly central with good schools? I have cousins in Bronte and Bondi Beach, they seem to like it there. Have another friend in St Ives but think that is quite an expensive area? Thanks in advance!

Kristina, cool, where did you see the bag? I am sort of hoping I don't like it IRL.

traceybath · 06/02/2010 17:42

Choo - golly hope your DD is better and out of hospital soon.

Well I've ordered the j brand 7/8 skinnies from NAP as they briefly had some in stock in my size - but if they're not perfect they're going back.

Hana - I've got a similar breton dress from warehouse and its fab have worn it a few times and only had it a couple of weeks. I saw that one in oasis and was tempted but resisted as very similar to the one I have.

I am sooooo tired - just nearly fell asleep in front of fire.

Right must get dc's bathed and then can watch silent witness on the iplayer - yes, another wild saturday night chez traceybath.

Pretty origami top - would look fab with white jeans/white denim mini skirt - yeap my inner liz is surfacing.
