website is crumbling under the pressure though

OP posts:
oldenglishspangles · 28/01/2010 19:17

FA You are just determined to put the boot in arent you ' my feet are wide and that aspect is fine'...... A boot comfy for wide feet too I thought I may be able to tweak the laces if they were a bit loose on the ankle. Convenience of a zip with a the lace give an opp to tweak.

Flightattendant · 28/01/2010 19:18

Yes can see

Not fair is it.

PP I will be happy to pay you over the odds if you do want to get rid - I mean I'll add a small donation to make it more worthwhile, if that makes sense.

seems cheeky otherwise.

Flightattendant · 28/01/2010 19:20

Oops! x posts, sorry I thought your feet were narrow, I see now it is just your ankles. Boy you have confusing feet

there's no laces at all - does it help if I tell you the ankles are very, very wide - in fact totally beyond reasonably wide.

Flightattendant · 28/01/2010 19:21

ankles 7 inches across.

and they are actually a size 13.

PoppityPing · 28/01/2010 21:57

FA, don't worry, I haven't forgotten you! Decision making is not my strong point!
I won't want extra from you if I do decide they aren't for me though, that would not be in the spirit of things at all
I hate that it's all snapped up to be resold, they can't make that much and it seems so cheeky doesn't it?

faustina · 28/01/2010 22:12

those riding boots that were 45 quid are going on ebay for 125 buy it now - so it is quite a lot of money, and the same person has three pairs in a 39 which is the size I would have bought if the site hadn't broken. I am very pissed off

eshermummy · 28/01/2010 22:12

Poppityping - is there a code for free postage now then?

Have already placed three sale orders and paid full p&p AND had to pay to return a shedload of stuff. Would like to order one more thing but only if free postage......

faustina · 28/01/2010 22:15

it just says free p&p - I don't think there is a code - until jan 31st

oldenglishspangles · 28/01/2010 22:21

FA am beginning to feel a bit better now I know they are 7 inches wide on the ankle. The clearly would not have suited me thanks for saving me from a huge mistake
Faustina - I am sure the person with 3 pairs of size 39 ordered them genuinely for themselves - how can you be so cynical .

eshermummy · 28/01/2010 22:25

Thanks

Did anyone order a merino poloneck and can tell me what the sizing was like?

PoppityPing · 28/01/2010 22:27

That is awful! I didn't realise they were marking it up that much! How galling. Can't see how it could be stopped either.

Eshermmy, yes the free p&p just happens I guess, no code in the email.

faustina · 28/01/2010 22:34

no I don't suppose toast care really.

I ordered two pairs to see which colour I preferred, but I would have set them back if they hadn't fitted - not flogged them for profit

Flightattendant · 29/01/2010 06:56

Oh you are lovely Poppity.

Outrageous that people do this...I think there should be an automatic limit on one pair of any size per order...it would stop people placing an order with multiple pairs in it. And not stop those who wanted to try two different sizes...as we have found, a fairly good idea with toast

Still no despatch notice for other bits. not quite so excited now I know shoes may be huge...let's hope Italian shoes run a size down...I know they have tiny feet over there!!

Esh I am pretty sure you just order and it doesn't charge you the P&P. I would if there was anything left that I wanted. Blue harem pants anyone

OES am glad you feel better!! I will keep watch (and if anyone else could too please) so if those andalucian boots come back in a size 41 I'll grab them, and you can have my 42s...however I imagine you're more likely to see 42s back on the site than I am to get a 41 iyswim.

They said any returns will go back on the site so worth looking x

squashedfrogs · 29/01/2010 07:27

I put my third order in last night and the free p&p comes up automatically. I wasn't planning to buy anything but each time I look I find something else I like. I must have more willpower and just stop looking at the site

vesela · 29/01/2010 10:25

Sorry to hear about the boot woes.

Nothing to report yet - my first order (despatched Tuesday) still hasn't come, but I live a looong way away. I haven't had despatch notes for my second order (Tuesday, going to a parents' address so won't see it for a while) or third yet.

Flightattendant · 29/01/2010 11:48

ooh that's a bit slow Ves. I've not had despatch note either yet and ordered on Monday...

I'm just wondering what is left apart from obv the harem pants in a 20. Have had a few goes at website and almost nothing has any stock when you click on it...I wish they would update it a bit! Tis hard work finding anything.

MadameOvary · 29/01/2010 12:40

I've had my items today.
Ordered the merino sweater dress in a 10 and I should have got an 8, dammit

Also ordered the cotton cashmere undies set which looks awful - clearly meant for someone 5'10 and with smaller norks than me. Its also too wide for my small back and just looks wrong. And that was the small!

Also ordered the cotton cashmere nighties in small and medium, going to give the med to my friend as a birthday pressie.
The sweater dress is nice enough and a good price but between the dreadful sheepskin boots and the dodgy stitching on the undies I dont think I'll be buying from them again.

They also take bloody ages to refund

Flightattendant · 29/01/2010 12:46

Oh no, what a shame

the sizing must be a bit weird I think...it sounds like there might be a lot of things reappearing on their website shortly, if the rest of the known universe has had a similar issue...really sorry you were disappointed.

MadameOvary · 29/01/2010 12:54

It seems that the things made by other people ie the Chie Mihara (sp?) boots are good quality, but their own label stuff is distinctly average.

MadameOvary · 29/01/2010 13:05

Flight, if one of those things was the Andalucians then I might just forgive them

Flightattendant · 29/01/2010 13:21

Ah maybe that is so...

Yes I am hoping some good stuff comes back!

There are some of those boots on ebay at £135 or something ridiculous they are in a 40.

I can't stand people who use ebay in that way. It's got to be the laziest 'business' possible.

PoppityPing · 29/01/2010 15:57

Flight, you can have the boots. I have tried them on with trousers now and they are just too much like work/riding boots- the only advantage in that would be not having to tell DH that I've spent any money. So how do we exchange details etc?

So I'm not keeping any of it. I really wish'd gone for this dress that I've wanted since the winter stuff came out. I was trying to be practical, never a good idea.

Does anyone have it? They still have it in a 10, I used to be fine in their 10, they were always generous, nowadays I'm not so sure.

Madame Ovary Chie Mihara shoes are fabulous, I have 3 pairs and I'm always linking to them on here, they are beautifully made and soooo comfortable (esp for heels). They sometimes have a few on Amazon and ASOS, they are rather pricey, but I think they are worth it, unlike my tunic

Flightattendant · 29/01/2010 16:36

Oh, Fantastic!!! I'm so pleased...if you are absolutely sure though.

My email address for MN is sinty puppa at google mail dot com (no spaces anywhere)

If you email then I can give you my proper address and we can sort it out...not sure what postage will be, but if you let me know then will paypal work for you?

Or I can send a cheque or whatever is easiest really.

Thankyou SO much, really happy here!

I wish I had the dress to swap - tis lovely - do you need an 8? I hope someone has one. Will look on ebay over next few days in case.

PoppityPing · 29/01/2010 17:13

Ah! So pleased to be of service

[Well, no not an 8, I think as everyone has found things coming up small that I need a 12. Most things from Toast used to be generous, so I might risk it. I'm just hoping that some will be returned though....

I'll email you now

I loved it when I was an 8 with size 8 feet, there was always something left in the sale!

PoppityPing · 29/01/2010 17:22

Right, come and help me on my thread for black shoes/boots to wear with trousers
