I have a cheapo one from Gap which they must be due to release any second now. Having said that (and as I linked that North Face one before) the advance of the Arctic Parka is that it is truly waterproof because of the Hyvent fabric, unlike the others - the Patagonia one is only treated and the other NF one is not waterproof at all.

MaggieBeauLeo · 15/09/2009 17:25

That belted north face hayden coat is nice, but if the belt didn't fall exactly on your own waist it'd look terrible. I'm small, so it wouldn't look great on me.

LetThemEatCake · 15/09/2009 17:27

Arctic Parka it is.

Thanks chaps.

hurrah, whats next ltmecake?

SpawnChorus · 15/09/2009 17:29

May I hijack and ask what people think of thi one? Will it make me look like a giant ambulant turd?

I need something VERY warm.

SpawnChorus · 15/09/2009 17:29

In brown.

MaggieBeauLeo · 15/09/2009 17:39

post a link so can admire?!

LetThemEatCake · 15/09/2009 17:52

Spawn, Maggie was just saying how much she liked her Landsend one - think it looks great!! Good price too.

GayTony - think I have to call it a day on the purchases now What's next?? Having the baby and losing a shedload of weight so that I can wear these shoes and this dress for my birthday in December ... they've been in my wardrobe since May!!!

LynetteScavo · 15/09/2009 17:56

I like the first link best.

MaggieBeauLeo · 15/09/2009 19:49

The funny thing is that having ordered that coat, the first and last thing i'll ever buy from landsend, they send me their catalogue 4 times ayear. It's full of comfy shoes and turtle necks my mum asks me to pass it on to her. I give it to her in the plastic. now she's a fan. she's as passionate now about landsends shoes as some of the ladies on mn are about boden.

dogonpoints · 15/09/2009 19:52

north face with dead animla. Has far more shape to it. You'll look enormous in teh other ones

Lizzylou · 15/09/2009 20:34

LTEC, will you be wearing the Arctic Parka with your Birthday outfit?

Swoon at your birthday outfit.......

SpringySponge · 15/09/2009 20:35

Oh my God, I love those Jimmy Choos!

Lizzylou · 15/09/2009 20:38

I know springy, am having serious shoe envy!

LetThemEatCake · 15/09/2009 20:40

Oh, mais non, Lizzylou - I will be wearing "a sharp leather jacket and striking heels for a tough evening finish" as per the styling guidance of the Net-a-Porter team!

LetThemEatCake · 15/09/2009 20:41

they're what I spent my Health in Pregnancy grant on

is that bad??

OP posts:
Lizzylou · 15/09/2009 20:41

I would expect nothing less, LTEC!

Lizzylou · 15/09/2009 20:42

Health in pregnancy grant?????

I've never had that!

I could have spent a fortune at Next Netaporter!

LetThemEatCake · 15/09/2009 20:45

I know, it's new ... I didn't get it with my last dc and he's only 21m old ... it's basically a one-off £190ish to help you buy veggies while preggers! Since I was already vegan (although reintroduced some dairy & fish during the course of this pg) I figured that my best path to 'health' was 'happiness" of the high-heeled kind ......

Sadly, however, the grant only covered one shoe!!

Lizzylou · 15/09/2009 20:48

Bugger me.
I may have a baby now, just so that I can buy one Jimmy Choo

brokenspacebar · 15/09/2009 20:50

[[http://www.patagonia.com/web/eu/product/womens-tres-parka?p=28405-0-782 this] looks good, it is goose down with a separate waterproof layer. I think I prefer the north face dead animal one, because I am averse to the quilted look...

There was a Mum at my dc's school who wore something similar to the north face long down coat, she was tall and slim, so it didn't look too horrendous on her and she did look very warm in it...

brokenspacebar · 15/09/2009 20:54

this try again.

happilyeverafter · 15/09/2009 20:55

Without reading other replies I would get North face one with fur.

North face coats are excellent in a keeping-you-warm-and-dry-and-looking-slightly-nicer-than-their-other-serious-coat-counterparts.

P lus I hate the seam detailing on the others.

CHOOGIRL · 15/09/2009 20:56

So LTEC - I've been in a snippy mood all day - long story - but you admitting to spending your grant on Choos has cheered me up no end

LetThemEatCake · 15/09/2009 20:58

ha ha Choo!! I thought you already knew that??

you okay?
