Best place to buy an "AMAZING" dress?

geordieminx · 09/02/2009 11:20

Ok so I'm begging and pleading for the help of the fashion experts on here...

I'm looking for a dress to wear at a wedding... mine but not a "wedding dress".

Ceremony in hotel, 40ish people, meal, casino later. Hotel is a Malmaison, so trendy/gothy chic? The room we are getting married in is black and this kinda colour.

I'm 27, short, will hopefully be a size 10 by then, with good boobs (34d), large thighs and wobbly post child tum.

Ideally I was thinking something long, but this isnt set in stone, I open to all suggestions!

I guess I want to look amazing (ha), cool, sexy but not slutty

Any help, links to websites that I may not have looked at would be appreciated loads.

personally i prefer the more fitted styles but it is nice.
all brides look beautiful imo.
its def a safe choice i dont think you'd look back in 20 yers and say what was i thinking!

CountessDracula · 09/02/2009 13:44

Watch out if you buy from Coast or Monsoon
You run the risk of one of your guests turning up in the same dress!

CountessDracula · 09/02/2009 13:46

songbird are you sure??

Some great ones there

SongBirdOfPrey · 09/02/2009 13:46

geordieminx · 09/02/2009 14:10

SongBirdOfPrey · 09/02/2009 14:20

geordieminx · 09/02/2009 14:47

i cant open any links just now as i'm at toddlers (yawn). If you could stick a picture up that would be great, i've never seen a canary in a dress .

I have to say i'm thinking more fish tail basque type thing, i think its the sort of wedding/venue that i could get away with it. Plus dp would love it, especially if i kept it as a major secret!

There are some lovely ones there Tilly - I like the one you linked to in green - although in a purple colour perhaps.

Songbird - definately leaning towards fishtail, bustier type dress, I think with the venue/type of wedding I could get away with it - plus dp (dh) would love it - especially if I could keep it a major secret!!

Bugger - just realised I managed to post those comments already - twice... blardy phone!

Tillyscoutsmum · 09/02/2009 16:18

a bit too goth ? Not sure about the model either tbh

some nice ones on here

Definitely recommend bridemaid dresses - you can get gorgeous ones for less than £250 and can chose your colour etc. I very nearly went for the first one I linked to in the last post

geordieminx · 09/02/2009 16:26

Its the right sort of style tily, although maybe a bit nicer fastenings? The amethyst colour is nice,.

Have bookmarked the other site for a nosey once ds has gone to bed!
