what kind of wooden floors? dark or light?

Goober · 17/11/2008 22:00

Orange.

solo · 17/11/2008 22:00

Biege/sand or dark brown with a sandy colour in it.

nancy75 · 17/11/2008 22:00

we have got all of the above, with cream curtains that have a beige, brown and duck egg bluey colour stripe, with similar colour cushions on the sofa

littleboyblue · 17/11/2008 22:01

I have cream walls, wooden floors, dark brown rug, black sofas, dark brown light shades and curtain pole and went for mocha colour curtains, looks alright

DulwichDolly · 17/11/2008 22:02

any bright colour with bright cushions....

add some colour ....beige is a total dull

southeatsastras · 17/11/2008 22:02

something vibrant like purple or red

ceciliaaherne · 17/11/2008 22:03

This is my living room! I played it safe and have cream curtains but would love duck egg blue/teal for a splash of colour.

anyfucker · 17/11/2008 22:03

duck egg blue

or

rich deep red

then pick up the colour with cushions/lamps

JackieNo · 17/11/2008 22:03

I'd go for something that has a bit of colour in, like Nancy's duck egg blue, or maybe some red. Otherwise it has the potential to be a bit samey, if all tones of brown/beige. (imo, of course)

MascaraOHara · 17/11/2008 22:03

Burnt Orange
or
turquise
or
fushia pink
or
duck egg blue

all depending on the material.. I'd go for a shiny material if opting for pink a heavy woven material if orange

LackaDAISYcal · 17/11/2008 22:03

duck egg blue

or rich reds and oranges

emkana · 17/11/2008 22:03

the floor is lightish oak

if everything else is v plain then be bold and go for something with an abstract design, something bold not twee.... but depends what you're like!

i'd say duck egg blue / stone / orangey...

thumbwitch · 17/11/2008 22:04

Terracotta/cream, or dark red/cream.

BirdyArms · 17/11/2008 22:04

I'd probably go for a pattern. Maybe something reddish on a cream background. Just tried to find examples on John Lewis's website and struggled, I quite like these

emkana · 17/11/2008 22:04

what about these

OP posts:
TheBlonde · 17/11/2008 22:05

cream!

Ivvvvyygootscaaared444 · 17/11/2008 22:06

reds and golds in a pattern to make the room unbland with all plain,

misselizabethbennet · 17/11/2008 22:07

I think I'd pick a warm colour like orange, red or pink, maybe in a pattern. I have similar colours but my sofas are brown tweedy, not leather. I have a purple and orange painting, and purple and orange accessories (including christmas tree decs when the time comes). Might sound foul but it's actually really nice.

sweetkitty · 17/11/2008 22:08

I have cream walls with one chocoalte brown feature wall, chocolate brown sofa and beige/cream carpet.

We have beige curtains with a brown panel at the top (in Next catalogue also do teal ones)

mysterymoniker · 17/11/2008 22:09

can't you paint the walls a nice colour?

paint the walls orange.

get blinds.

emkana · 17/11/2008 22:11

The room has only just been decorated.

I am not keen on patterns, was thinking a fabric for the curtains that is textured.
