Hello everyone, old and new.

This is about feeling better about yourself and looking and feeling better etc. But mainly we chat and laugh quite a lot, which has all got to help towards happiness etc.

The rules (anyone can join):

  • Sunscreen at all times - REALLY mean this now summer is here.
  • No or little booze. Wine or Champagne or whatever at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Some people are doing India and Neris's Idiot Proof Diet (Atkins, more or less), others are doing Slimy World, others are just being as healthy as possible.

Welcome everyone, have a good week.

Hmm. Today's plans for house hunting on hold - woke up to find we'd been burgled this morning.

Puppy sick again last night so stayed up with her till one and got up at three and six. Forgot to check back door. It wasn't locked - so our fault .

Laptop, mobiles, camera, camcorder, satnav, dh's watch gone. Inconvenient but not terrible. We'll have lost some good photos which I hadn't yet uploaded to photobox - including the first one of the puppy at four weeks, with dd the day we chose her.

Spent morning with kind police and SOCO who didn't tell us it serves us right.

Had a cry and a bath. Don't know what to do now.

Dd very calm about it all so far.

Don't think they came upstairs. All our kitchen knives are where I left them. Could have been worse.

Oh well

unknownrebelbang · 12/07/2008 12:37

Oh Eemie, that's terrible.

chutneymary · 12/07/2008 15:44

Oh eemie, that's terrible, I'm so sorry.

STD · 12/07/2008 16:20

Eemie - that's awful. I'm sorry, was there much mess?

rebel - I still meet up with the mums I was friends with at the children's primary. We go out from a meal and a drink every few weeks. It's nice to keep in touch.

ds2 is much better - has stopped rearranging his CDs which is a good sign lol!

Sorry about your MIL Cerys but good news about dh.

I'm stood here in the kitchen with the laptop watching a hedgehog on the lawn. I think he's lost track of time - they usually sleep during the day don't they? The little bugger has been at my milk the last few mornings - I've had to get the milkman to leave it in a plant pot. Actually he's a bit too still. I'm off to invesigate....

STD · 12/07/2008 16:21

oooo it's me by the way . I was experimenting on the three-letter user name thread. This name is not a reflection of my current health

yoyo · 12/07/2008 17:15

Eemie - how awful for you. Hope DD remains calm and doesn't worry too much at bedtime.

eemie · 12/07/2008 23:30

Yoyo - Dd had her big song and dance show tonight so we have just put her to bed & she's too thrilled and too exhausted to remember about the burglary. She's been fine about it so far.

Not much mess - very professional. Police say it was a gang who did some related ones further down the road. They're taking it seriously & hoping they can use our stolen mobiles to get a trace on the perpetrators.

O2 could not have been more unhelpful. Will never have anything to do with them again. I've been with them 14 years and they treated me as if I was the criminal.

Thanks for your sympathy. Check your doors are locked . I'm usually very good about that but...

Puppy better again. She bounces back just like a toddler.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 13/07/2008 00:04

eemie, sorry to hear about your burglary, it is a horrible thing to happen. And dealing with the insurance company etc is a pita. (I have just been to lock doors as DH has gone for a bath and will no doubt fall asleep up there).

saggars - how was the hedgehog? I haven't seen one for years, I don't think we have any round here, lots of badgers though.

An OKish day for me. Mostly loafing about and getting things ready for tomorrows pre-school BBQ.

My feet are bloody hideous and I will make it next weeks project to sort them out.

Eemie - t-mobile were equally rubbish with me re ds2's mobile. Took me 35 minutes to get through to report it stolen and when I called to register a new one they wouldn't let me top up with the card I'd used on the stolen one.... for 3 months. I've changed provider.....guess who to? Yes o2 lol!

The hedgehog was fine Norks. Sunbathing I think. It's living in my very overgrown back border. Gives me an excuse not to weed it now.

Glad you're having a good time www.

moonshine · 13/07/2008 14:18

How awful Eemie - small consolation I know but at least it was a 'professional' gang instead of pi**ed up kids/men who do unspeakable things (many many years ago worked in insurance for a while and some burglars are truly vile, as if taking stuff wasn't bad enough).

I've seen a couple of squashed hedgehogs recently but was most surprised to see a pretty big fox in our garden a couple of days ago (in the daytime as well). The next day found a huge wreath of black feathers which obviously belonged to a bird which did not get away . I've just cleared the mess up, plus the thousands of stunted-growth (or whatever the technical term is!) apples in our garden. At least my 'surprise' raspberry bush is producing some nice fruit atm.

Bootcamp - weekend back to normal and I've been crap. Food not so bad (although had a huge Thai curry last night and have got into the habit of having a Frys choc cream every night) but far too much wine.

WWW - sounds blissful. But I'm sure I can't be the only one dying to know - did the porno bra and pants see some action ?

Oh well, off to do some more chauffeur duties (oh to have a social life half as fun as dcs).

Cammelia · 13/07/2008 16:00

Good afternoon, got a few minutes as dh is playing "rounders" with dh in the garden.

Sorry about your burglary eemie.

It happened to me a couple of years ago, they broke a window to get in.

Have swum every day except Wednesday this week (it was torrential rain so took dd and her friend out to lunch)

I am eating lots of salads with things like garlic prawns.

Have to admit I am drinking a couple of glasses most days, that's what school holidays does to you

Especially while awaiting letter from school to find out if dd is in the academic scholarship class next year (already know she will be doing art scholarship, being sent home with art materials and scholarship projects for summer hols was a bit of a giveaway)

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 13/07/2008 21:49

www - what a wonderfully grown-up weekend.

I survived the pre-school BBQ. I did have 2 small glasses of Pimms to help things along. Archie worked the bar with me (ie. he slept in the sling for 3.5 hours). We made over £500 which was great and it didn't rain either!

I've eaten 2 x cereal, hot dog & some coleslaw, ham & pickle roll, handful of crisps, raw carrots, an apple. Er, that's it. Less water than usual but will have another couple of glasses before bed.

Everything ready for school tomorrow so I should get an early night. Archie already asleep upstairs. So I'm quite happy despite being knackered from the days efforts.

unknownrebelbang · 13/07/2008 22:11

I won't ask why STD, saggars!

I've made good friends from DS1/DS2's years (a lot with children in both years) and will keep in touch with some of them; but although I know all the parents from DS3's year there's no one I'm particulary "friends" with.

Le weekend sounds fab www.

£500 is a fab result Duchess.

I've bought new scales and I weigh 1/2 stone heavier, sob.

Took DS2/3 to see Wall-E this morning. Couldn't tell you much about it though, I kept resting my eyelids...the seats were so comfy.

Oh, and DH has managed to sort out childcare for DS3, so we are going away next weekend afterall. OK, so he needed a rocket to get it sorted, although I think it was the threat of having to attend the scout treasure hunt if he didn't that made the difference...

Good morning all!
Eemie, I'm so sorry about your burglary as others have said, place not trashed and no family members hurt are key "positives" in this situation, but what an upsetting shock

Marina · 14/07/2008 11:05

hectic one socially! I meant to say...

tortoiseSHELL · 14/07/2008 16:39

Hello all, I've been hiding from the thread a bit, as have been a bit preoccupied with chickens and children!

Will read the thread later and catch up, but just wanted to whisper on here (away from the education threads) that ds1 got his SATs results, and did really well!!! He is a June boy, and got level 3s in reading, speaking/listening and science, and 2a in maths and writing. So am pleased. And determined NOT to get into the whole 'what did your child get?' playground chatter. And dd got a lovely report too, and more importantly, is having the loveliest teacher next year (who is also a really good friend of mine ).

There, boast over! I had to laugh at ds1's report because he got As for everything except PE and Art, and it was full of all the extracurricular music he's doing, 'involved in everything musical that goes on', which is a complete repeat of my reports - I was useless at art AND PE!

Will come on later and read everyone's news!
