Hello everyone, old and new.

This is about feeling better about yourself and looking and feeling better etc. But mainly we chat and laugh quite a lot, which has all got to help towards happiness etc.

The rules (anyone can join):

  • Sunscreen at all times - REALLY mean this now summer is here.
  • No or little booze. Wine or Champagne or whatever at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Some people are doing India and Neris's Idiot Proof Diet (Atkins, more or less), others are doing Slimy World, others are just being as healthy as possible.

Welcome everyone, have a good week.

ureb - no results until 15 July and if it's KS3 you're waiting too for I wouldn't hold your breath even then.

We've had papers returned marked but no levels. The staff have gone through them but daren't release the unoffical results. Tis a poor show - but the company handling them hasn't got a particularly good track record apparently. Heaven knows why the got the contract.

Rofl at moonshine getting orgasmic over flexitol.

Gym today - have rather taken to the rowing machine. It makes a change from the bike which I don't enjoy. My arms are still feeble.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 08/07/2008 19:34

marina, well done for kicking the GPs arse.

www - deffo take the bra with you at the weekend.

pru - you and your tits must look divine!

I've eaten 2 x cereal & banana for breakfast, ryvita with cheese and a peach for lunch, 3 biscuits this afternoon, several raw carrots and am about to have salmon en croute with new potatoes and sweetcorn/pea/green beans for dinner. Was hoping to have raspberries but the DCs have had the lot.

Archie being a right pain today - eat/scream/eat/scream etc. So I may leave him to scream in the drawing room so I can at least have my dinner in peace. DH in town today so nobody to palm baby off on.

unknownrebelbang · 08/07/2008 20:33

Thanks Saggars. The staff have totalled the scores here too, and there has been contact with the LEA who have said they may tell the parents, providing they make it clear they're only provisional. Not sure I'd tell them tbh, but it's consults tonight and I'm wondering if they will. (We had ours last night as DS2 has been in a concert tonight). DH has been in lots of talks with the Head, lol. (Spent the whole blardy day there today for various reasons).

We are awaiting KS3s too, but no issues there.

WideWebWitch · 08/07/2008 21:21

Hello everyone, 2 confessions:

  1. I delved deeper in the bag (desultory look this am as was trying to work so only glaned at what I'd bought) and I also bought the pants which match the bra, fking hell, they are well dodgy too. Dh is pleased though and has been leering since seeing them

  2. I am drinking wine. Had a spatchcock poussin (ooerr) waiting for dh when he came home tonight and we opened a bottle and oops it's gorn

never mind, feeling happy and it's edging closer to the weekend...

unknownrebelbang · 08/07/2008 21:37

Lovely set www. .

Hope you and Archie have a better day tomorrow Duchess.

  • Sunscreen yy
  • No booze.
  • 2 mile hike + twister. Thighs are aching because the second mile I upped the pace (I'd forgotten a job I needed to do and had to rush to work, lol).
  • Lots of water/weak tea.
  • Apply body cream - lax.
  • Use hand cream - lax.
  • Go to bed early - midnightish.
  • Eat healthily - Food intake is increasing slightly. Forgot to bring spinach home so had to make do with lettuce
  • Be happy. The boys all seem more content (for now). DS2 had a strings concert tonight so that was enjoyable, and met up with a couple of old friends.

We may have an unexpected quandary with DS2. Will hopefully know more tomorrow.

Morning all
Ureb - fill us in on ds2, I hope it is a good quandary, if there is such a thing
Hope you had a good night's sleep duchess
Inspired by www and the rubber bra (check it for bats before you pop it on www ) I did something very bad indeed last night.
My Boden order came through and I am now im possession of a wrap dress (elsewhere described as vile but hey ho, I guess it matches my vile figure ) and a pretty skirt.
I loved them so much I...errr...went back online and ordered them again (plus a coat AND a wrap cardigan ) in size 14, so that's my goal by March next year. Drop two dress sizes.
Batters, I avoid man snooping at online shopping by having it delivered to work, bwahahaha
Think I have lost weight this week, so bring it on SlimyWorld!
Bama, I can imagine the homesickness is a big factor, I'd miss rainwashed Europe too
Good bootcamp yesterday apart from lack of time to lunge. Wish I had access to a rowing machine saggars, I used to love that best in the gym.
Wishing all a happy bootcamp day. Have giant tub of most fave veg to munch at lunch - lightly steamed sliced runner beans in a chilli dressing. My turn to rhapsodise moonshine

WideWebWitch · 09/07/2008 10:31

Marina, I think that's a good incentive, so they will be the Boden Body Barometers, like the trousers of truth

ureb, yes, me too re hoping it's a good quandary.

Sobernow, v impressed at your gardening and at use of loamy, there's a word you don't hear that often!

Marina, dress is lovely. Why does Johnnie never offer things like that to me? (well, I can't find nice things on his site, though others do. Mind you, won't fit into anything of Johnnie's for some time....)_

Just a quickie - I have to be in bed at least half an hour before ds wakes up to begin the nights trials and tribulations...

Marina - lovely dress, can't see why others don't like it (obv not bootcampers as they plainly have no taste).

WWW - much lol at bra 'n' brief set. The material is somewhat reminiscent of something you might wrap your sandwiches in. In times of international conflict. Am of your dh being leery though. Surely a man who wears Paul Smith suits (iirc) wouldn't be into that sort of thing..?

Batters - I did the turning veggie thing on my mother too. Took me 20 years to get over that particular phase .

Good bootcamp day for me. Loads of water and walking, just a small muffin but it did have raspberries and chocolate in it, a lovely salad of spinach, mixed beans, cherry toms, snow peas, salami, bocconcini and avocado and then we'll gloss over the cheese on toast for tea.

Right. Off to bed. Night all!

eemie · 09/07/2008 14:52

The more stressed I am the more silly things I forget and the more problems I make for myself.

Have lost two more nights' sleep over house worries, her Puppyship had explosive D&V yesterday, struggling to finish big report by deadline, mother's help on holiday this week... and the upshot was that I ran out of petrol on way to work this am (should have had enough but had to turn off m'way because of jam).

Kind woman saw me, came back to find me after dropping her kids off, took me to petrol station and brought me back, meanwhile letting me call work on her mobile (of course mine was on desk at home)

Cheered up by her kindness . Have booked agency cleaners for tomorrow, puppy better, said no to rental house, dropped our asking price by another £15,000.

Back to reports. Best to everyone and thanks for encouragement.

SheikYerbouti · 09/07/2008 15:01

Hello everyone!

I joined in the last tread, but am v bad at keeping this sort of stuff up

Well, I am on day 7 of the India & Neris IPD, and aside from overdosing on nuts (I have eaten them all now, and I wonlt buy anymore) I have stuck to it i feel OK

I did get on the scales this morning, and I have lost 2lbs, which I suppose is a result, but I felt a bit disappointed. Humph.

I am really enjoying the food though, and have much more energy as a result of no sugar/caffeine/booze for a week. I am looking forward to next week when I can have wine again though. I'm a bit spotty, but I am hoping that that will impove in the next day or two.

Yoyo, glad all seems to be OK.I think it's pretty standard porocedure to be referred - tis better to be on the safe side.

Hello the rest of you, have a good afternoon!

Hey Sheik, don't be disappointed, you're not even supposed to weigh yourself yet! Well done, you're over the hardest bit imo.

Well, had prawns, aoili and raw spinach salad for lunch
then 3 sausages

THEN it's dh's birthday and so I ate 3 mini scotch eggs and my first bit of sugar for 2 months, 2 mini Roald Dahl branded rice crispy things a choc thing which was similar and had space dust in it (so my mouth was popping, remember that?!) and the icing off a mini fairy cake. And red wine.

Have to say, it wasn't that great, I really think I can live without sugar mostly. But there you go.

Hello all, have been useless at coming on to the thread, been too preoccupied with my new chickens, and trying not to let Dopey murder them...

Anyway, have had not bad week - today have had fruit salad at Ikea, half a tiny bagel with low fat cheese (stolen from ds2 who was going to throw it on the floor), a few olives, and tea will be something healthy.

We have started getting a fruit and veg box again (which is truly local, grown in Bristol), and that is helping with both healthy and cheap eating - although the fruit and veg is more expensive (though possibly not than the organic supermarket stuff), it means I get 1 or 2 meat things from the butchers (sausages and a free range chicken or ham or something), and spend much less on supermarket crap.

Sorry I haven't replied to anyone on this thread - it is too long! Hope you are all having good weeks though.

unknownrebelbang · 09/07/2008 21:47

Ah, tis nothing exciting, tis boring SATs lol.

Back in January, DS2 was expected to get a 3, 4 and possibly 5.
Prior to sitting them he was expected to get (on a good day with lots of effort) 4, 4 and maybe 5.
Bless him, we've had his provisional results, and he's got 4, 5 and 5!

He has put a tremendous amount of work in this year and it's been tough at times (far too much emphasis on SATs etc). Anyhoo, the primary Head, DH and myself are all in agreement that for him to be put into the top sets and be moved down within a few weeks would destroy him, so DH has had to contact the secondary to ensure that he isn't put into the top sets. Thankfully the school don't just rely on the SATs, but given that DS1 is already there and is very academic we didn't want to leave it to chance, blah blah blah.

It's not that we want to put DS2 down - we don't, it's a fantastic achievement for him, but we need to be realistic. Of course, we could be completely wrong and he may have switched on academically and prove us all wrong, but with his personality, far better to do well and have to be moved up, rather than the alternative.

Of course, I feel guilty for not having faith in DS2's ability to sustain the effort (wouldn't it be nice to be proved wrong?). They review at least once a term anyway.

You'll not be surprised to hear the teacher was quite shocked to receive the call - she usually gets the polar opposite.

I fkn hate SATs, but this wasn't an issue I thought we'd be dealing with!

unknownrebelbang · 09/07/2008 21:47

Gawd that was long!

Bootcamp - not bad today.

unknownrebelbang · 09/07/2008 21:54

Oh, and his teacher's response when seeing he'd got a (good, not just border-line) level 4 in literacy was "f hell".

(This was in private with the Head, it was NOT in front of any children.)

yoyo · 09/07/2008 22:33

Hello all. After a long and tiring day yesterday I ended up sharing wine with DH and eating peanuts. Bad company though as I fell asleep as usual.
Today has been less hectic but still far too busy. Managed a good session in the gym, i.e. excuse to have some time on my own.

Moonshine - did intervals on the treadmill today. Much more tiring than my normal routine and am a long way off my target of 5k. Will get there in the end.

Eemie - sorry your going through much crap with the house (and with puppy yesterday). Do you have to move or do you just want to?

Sheik - well done on 2 lbs. It is in the right direction and you are enjoying the diet which means you'll stick at it.

Batters - six dress sizes really is an astonishing achievement. Did you up the exercise and reduce the food or follow a specific diet? Do you not find yourself staring at your reflection in windows all the time? Have you now got to where ypu want to be? Sorry DD has been difficult - DD1 broke up from school last Fri and we have not had an argument-free day since.

Marina - really liked the dress and was very tempted but not sure my bosom is ample enough for it. Might just order it to see what it is like on. How did you get on in Slimy?
