Hello everyone, old and new.

This is about feeling better about yourself and looking and feeling better etc. But mainly we chat and laugh quite a lot, which has all got to help towards happiness etc.

The rules (anyone can join):

  • Sunscreen at all times - REALLY mean this now summer is here.
  • No or little booze. Wine or Champagne or whatever at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Some people are doing India and Neris's Idiot Proof Diet (Atkins, more or less), others are doing Slimy World, others are just being as healthy as possible.

Welcome everyone, have a good week.

My sister lives near Barcelona - she's coming home for the summer

moonshine · 07/07/2008 19:11

Maybe you could do a summer house swap?

sobernow - I trust you'll be putting lots of gardeners handcream on to look after your loamy fingernails!

yoyo - glad things are being sorted out. Chances are, by the time your scan comes round, the lump will have gone.

chutney - feeding and pumping at the same time is an impressive trick - but I'd probably drop something (ie. the baby)! As for the weight loss, it is either pure luck or the results of bootcamp. I did get very fit last year which has no doubt helped. But I do eat crisps, chocolate and cake as well as the apples and carrots, though I am very addicted to the carrots, I've eaten at least 10 today . How is your pregnancy going anyway?

I have now Flexitolled for 4 days in a row. (Personal Best).

eemie · 07/07/2008 21:00

Evening all, how's your weather? Ours reminded me of last July's deluges only half an hour ago; now we have calm and blue skies.

Yoyo - you don't say whether GP succeeded in reassuring you? Nice that she's not worried - but how do you feel? Full marks to her for giving you the option to go back, though.

Pru - Her Puppyship has also got a blot on her copybook today - a little pile on the mat for the first time in three weeks, and later a puddle. The trouble is, I think, that because she's so supervised, taken outside regularly etc, she doesn't know how to ask. Does this just come naturally? I quite like the idea of teaching her to ring a bell to go out but haven't managed to find a suitable bell.

Sobernow, what an earth goddess. I can't even keep geraniums going atm (puppy digs them up).

We went to meet landlord at prospective house to rent tonight. V. charming but tough bargainer. Can't quite believe that he suggested I should provide curtains for (very big) house and he'd contribute 50%. Hard conversation coming up with dh once he's put dd to bed. He's enthusiastic and upbeat, I'm anxious and doom-ridden.

We also got dd's school report which is brilliant. Got to remember why we're putting ourselves through all this.

Batters - even I enjoyed Dr Who and I only watched so I'd understand what dh and dd are saying to each other .

unknownrebelbang · 07/07/2008 21:32

Blimey, busy already!

Yoyo, that sounds positive.

Yes Saggars, he has to wash his own kit.

Oooh, www, batters and arfishy, how fab.
Happy birthday too.

Oh, and very impressed at the proposition too Batters!

I've discovered spinach leaves too bama.

Hope the feeding gets easier Duchess. It's tough going sometimes.

  • Sunscreen yy
  • No booze.
  • 2 mile hike + twister. Did start to walk home from school this morning too, but DH picked me up after 1/2 a mile because I was too blardy nosy and wanted to know what he'd been discussing at school, lol
  • Lots of water/weak tea.
  • Apply body cream - lax.
  • Use hand cream - lax.
  • Go to bed early - midnightish.
  • Eat healthily - not brilliant today.
  • Be happy. Had DS2/3's consults tonight and they were very positive. We'd had their reports on Friday, and whilst they contained no surprises, they were pretty crud tbh (the format more than the content iykwim, and I pointed this out to the Head this afternoon, lol, that guy sure does love me, hehe).

Anyhoo, went in expecting to cross swords but was disarmed by the odious little man. We did raise the issues we needed to though, and then had an interesting conversation with the Head about DS2.

unknownrebelbang · 07/07/2008 21:32

Oh, and i managed to lose 2lb!

yoyo · 07/07/2008 21:40

Eemie - not sure that I feel reassured just pleased that it will be looked at thoroughly. Might have felt less happy if she'd said "yes there's a lump but we'll see how it develops". A friend was told by her doctor that her lump was probably nothing to worry about at her age (40 like me). Six months later she had a mastectomy, aggressive chemo and has just finished radiotherapy. My doctor said in 99% of cases she was right but there is always the 1%.... So I am reassured that she is being thorough and that any changes will be dealt with promptly.

Norks - very impressed with footcare. DH away tonight so will be slathering my feet in the stuff. Sorry to hear thet you've hit the growth spurt phase - I used to tuck mine under one arm and use the pump on the other side when I had the peace to do so.

Saggars - no idea what I'm lifting as I she sets the machines for me (I have yet to brave the free weights on my own but have used 7 kg on the bench with her). When I use the machines I just alter the resistance to "tough" but not "impossible". Will take note on Friday.

Moonshine - what interval stuff do you do? Increase speed or resistance (you'll say both!)?

Chutney - are you due early December?

WWW - hotels look great. Don't think I'd leave the room.

Marina - how is your Dad doing at home?

Marina · 07/07/2008 22:02

Bonsoir, had cake (leaving do at work), feel norty but otherwise OK. Monsoon-like inundations and hideous thunderstorm both put paid to my lunch-time/evening power walk, ggrrr, although I dodged the drenching and got some fresh air at lunchtime
That all sounds very positive yoyo, but I think we'll all be even gladder for you when you are also signed off from the follow-up appointment
Am very awestruck at the gym programmes so many of you are following - I'd honestly struggle to find the time. Temperamentally I'd sooner loaf around in places like Threadneedles, which does not help.
Have gone a bit spotty - early rush of PMT I think as I have also been rather short with the punters today, although I did manage one of those wonderful resolutions for a distraught and panicky student that makes a librarian's heart sing with pleasure doesn't burn any calories though
Sobernow, the dcs are growing tomatoes and chilli plants in some tubs and dd claims to have planted a Bean. I do wish we had time to grow more, well done!
Saggars, I can maybe help with a programme for your parents but www is definitely Queen of Hotels round here. Hope you feel a bit less rough tomorrow
Moonshine, we were at the smallest Centreparcs a while back at the same time as not one but two families from school. We saw them once in the week. Hope you manage to dodge your nemesis and Butlins is better than you anticipate
Oh, I know this trotting through and namechecking gives lurkers a good sneery eyeful but who cares...Camm enjoy the hols, stay with us, bama if I ate any more spinach I'd be lowing, I love it, chutney, dad is progressing slowly but am engaged in endgame with feckers at GP practice, thanks for asking, eemie, good luck with breaking the news to dh about the Palladium-sized curtains. I am the cheery upbeat one in our double act, implausible though that seems at this moment
Must go to bed am SHATTERED. Have job lot of cheap trainer liners to fill with flexitol and attach to my trotters. I will have the fattest, softest little feet in Normandy
Water, cream, sunscreen - all good
Night all

Prufrock · 08/07/2008 09:09

I was good for the whole day, but have felt crap - I think having a normal weekend and a trip to Waitrose in the morning took it out of me, so I spent most of the afternoon in bed. Then took ds's to the Feast Disco, where I was harangued by teh dj for not joining in properly with the "big fish, little fish, cardboard box" song actions, (imagine vogueing at speed with your elbows tucked in) at which my mates peed them themselves - though a couple did shout in my defence that I couldn't move my arms! Goodness knows what he thought.

Sunscreen, bodybrushed, hand cream and cleaned face and put on night cream. Didin't bother with body stuff- didn't actually manage to have a shower
No exercise 2 cups coffee, lots of water, granola and skimmed milk, BIt of roast chicken, leftover 3 bean chilli. Nectarine. Tuna and huge prawns with beansprouts and homegrown chard.

Prufrock · 08/07/2008 11:04

I am so very very happy. I bought this and it arrived today and I have it on and it is beautiful and my tits are gorgeous

bamamama · 08/07/2008 11:06

Evening all. I'm knackered today. Ds decided that as he'd had such a rubbish night on Sunday he would wake up every 2 hours last night with the exception of the 2 hours he woke up every 20 minutes. We've both been a bit grumpy today.

Still, I made myself bootcamp religiously as I figured that it would help and made myself go to my exercise class which involves an hours walk there and back. I don't feel as bad as I could.

So, self pitying aside I'm very of all this talk of Barcelona, Normandy and top notch hotels. Being away this year has really made me appreciate how close to Europe Britain is. Sigh.

Anyway, onwards -

Yoyo - hope you're feeling less fearful about the lump, good that the wheels are in motion on that one.

Batters - home grown veg always tastes so much better.

Duchess - sympathy for the 6 week growth spurt - I remember it well, it's a killer.

Eemie - hope your house dilemmas sort themselves.

Moonshine - now just step away from David Tennant, as soon as I've finished with Dylan Moran (have been watching Black Books on youtube as we can't access any sort of iplayer) then he's up next.

Marina - hope you're feeling refreshed. Could you work in some lunges as you go about your business at work. It would throw the arsey punters off their guard if nothing else.

WWW - those hotels look fab. I hope you have a wonderful weekend

Right, ds is quiet for the time being. I'm off to watch more Black Books and wish I had a big glass of wine...

WideWebWitch · 08/07/2008 11:40

Hello, in haste as I'm meant to be working and so far have achieved f all, Prufrock, dress looks lovely, glad the tits are erm, looking good! In contrast, I ordered online with PMT which I should bloody well know by now not to do, look at this which I collected from the PO this morning, it's VILE! I shouldn't shop with pmt, I really shouldn't!

Had 3 sausages for breakfast
must do some work
will come back later

www lol @ your pmt shopping. bit porno!

glad re: norks pru, that dress is sure to show them off

yoyo glad dr was able to reassure, hope the referral goes well

Prufrock · 08/07/2008 12:15

OMG www - that is rather horrific. Better to go the whole hog and buy a pvc outfit.....
Seriously - get thee to bravissimo.

Marina · 08/07/2008 12:28

If dh likes it www, make him wear it
Lovely (pru)frock
Have politely kicked GP arse and dad has been in receipt of a sulky phone call, but has had his meds renewed. 60 years in the NHS yadayadayada and his first plea for a house call in all that time is dealt with so grudgingly
Good day so far otherwise

fgs indeed at GP.

Glad the bra is amusing everyone! Agree I need to get to R&P or somewhere, will do it soon. dh said on the phone, well, not worth sending it back, surely? ha ha.

Am eating tarragon chicken on a bed of raw shredded spinach, it's lovely.

Bundle · 08/07/2008 15:39

chicken/avocado on ciabatta for lunch, extreme control exercised by declining mayo

having portrait painted this week - will politely request airbrushing

I optimistically put sunscreen on face today, glad I did (though shouldn't it be waterproof??!)

bought nice jersey lowish cut dress from noa noa sales, have never been in there before.

yoyo · 08/07/2008 16:29

WWW - your bra made me laugh but I can see it sneaking its way into your luggage this weekend (just for the novelty value of course!).

Having a grueller of a day with end of term stuff. A whole day sports day!! Dodging rain too. Next up is a music practice for exam in two days and then I shall end my evening ferrying DD to some Sports Centre for a practice for her forthcoming gala. Oh, and there's tea and all the usual crap to do. DH gets back at some point too.
On a positive note I slept really welll last night and had a good session in the gym this morning although I had to force myself to go. Ticked lots of BC boxes. Running late again.

unknownrebelbang · 08/07/2008 16:54

Saggars, what's the state of play in primaries locally with regard to sats results?

moonshine · 08/07/2008 17:18

WWW - that is a seriously porno bra indeed and looks like it buffs up nicely!

Prufrock - lovely frock - if you have the norks for it which you obviously do now. I want some new perky norks [stamps foot].

We have been talking an awful lot about our norks on this thread, and all the pleasure and pain they give us (wonders what lurkers have been, well lurking, after a sweaty google search...).

Yoyo - resistance interval training sounds far too advanced for me. I just do the speed thing. So when I went to the gym today (pauses for effect) I ran at at a reasonable comfortable pace on the treadmill for about 10 mins then started increasing by .2/.3 miles every 30 secs for a few mins until I was running at full pelt (for me), went down to fast walking and did it all over again. Sometimes I try to run longer at faster speeds but increase by bigger increments. All terribly unscientific but I have noticed that it does help to get me fitter more quickly (if not thinner sadly)and I like to feel really breathless, although it is not a pretty sight.

Marina - hope you manage to shake the old critter gp and his habits up - not a good record to boast about methinks.

Bamamama - I shall concede Tennant if you let me have David Morrissey, whose name came up as a future possible Dr Who [excited]. I am slightly worried about your Moran habit though (hides You Tube page on computer).

And for all the non-porno lurkers, I would happily namecheck more if I could actually remember what I wanted to say as I was reading the posts (and I think of lots of things but I have the memory of a gnat), and was not worried about writing yet another epic post.

Oh and have at least bought a new flexitol tube - am loving the new packaging.
