What do you wear under jumpers?

I have got lots of different styles of jumper some loose and some fitted, but it doesn’t always feel right to wear them with nothing underneath. But if I wear a T-shirt, it feels too bulky.

What do people wear underneath their jumpers?

Vest tops, vest tops with lace so it shows through a v neck jumper.
find knit, tight cashmere long sleeve tops, long sleeve Primark stretch t-shirts (long and short sleeved)

BangingOn · Yesterday 19:14

I have some thin cotton camisoles that I wear underneath jumpers when I don’t want bulk or too much warmth. In the winter I wear a fine thermal vest if it’s really cold.

Now that it’s heading into winter, Uniqlo heat tech 👍

Favouritefruits · Yesterday 19:16

A cotton vest from M&S just plain black ones that can double up as a pj top in the summer months

All the layers.

Or a hoody instead. I can't find jumpers that actually feel warm enough.

I find I'm still cold in a vest or t shirt underneath.
Shirts work but feel like school.
Long sleeve t shirts can work if the neck line is right.

DelphiniumBlue · Yesterday 19:20

Mostly a cotton vest top, or a scoop neck short sleeved T-shirt. I find long sleeved T-shirts annoying under jumpers as I always tend to push up sleeves, but if there were elbow length ones available I would buy some.

Uniqlo tops in varying thicknesses

OneNewEagle · Yesterday 19:23

Usually a long sleeved top, tshirt or thin blouse. I also have lots of basic black vests from m and s that I wear under jumpers or dresses, wear them as pyjama tops in the summer months.

My mind is blown by this thread.
I don't visit here often.
But surely jumpers are an extra layer and not a replacement for a shirt/top of some sort?!

AuroraBloom · Yesterday 19:26

I don't wear jumpers as an extra layer. I wear them as a top. Have I been wearing jumpers wrong all my life 😂

MyManinCaracas · Yesterday 19:27

Some people wear them as an extra layer and some as the main event. Nothing wrong with either.

Freezingflowers · Yesterday 19:30

Always with a long sleeved t shirt underneath.
I can't imagine only wearing a vest, for me the whole point of wearing a jumper is to feel warm and cosy, and my arms would feel bare with only a vest underneath the jumper.

Me too 😊

BigBadPotato · Yesterday 19:34

I’ve a stack of plain tight fitting, stretchy vest tops, mostly h&m and Asda (£4 in there, bargain). Always tucked into my jeans under my jumpers. Which are usually tucked too 😂
I’m always too hot so long sleeve would be too much and I don’t like the feel of T-shirts.

Skybluecoat · Yesterday 19:34

Long sleeve cotton tops. Ones that are close fitting, but not too tight.

psychodacat · Yesterday 19:35

I used to wear Uniqlo heat tech, but I've not been able to find the camisole style ones for a while. I bought some Airism instead this year, and they seem fine.

fudgesmummy · Yesterday 19:48

Always a vest top, I would definitely be too hot with anything else 🙂

Agreed. MN never ceases to amaze.

I suppose this question explains all those weird posts about washing wool jumpers. [ correct answer about how to wash wool jumpers is by hand and very, very infrequently. The wrong, MN way, being machine wash after every wear]

stupid36 · Yesterday 19:54

Vest top and long sleeved t shirt

Lifestooshort71 · Yesterday 20:02

I always wear a close-fitting, shortish tee-shirt underneath (sometimes long sleeved). I like a rim of white to show at the top of the jumper as it seems to give my face a lift. I also don't have to wash jumpers that often, just the tee-shirts.
