Welcome to Thread 13 and happy unboxing to all who sail (sale??) in her as we swap tips, tricks, frustrations and joys of the BAC/FAC journey.

Not too long until Black Friday discounts so keep your fingers crossed and some room on your credit card Xmas Grin

Key link for all the calendars via the very lovely MaryBD of the calendars https://beauty-detective.com/category/beauty-advent-calendars/

Though lots of ACs are out of stock already, so beware (and extra double beware of anything Selfridges Fragrance related!!)

And it won't let me add the FIRST20 code which is rubbish ... offer it to loyal people with accounts not just one offs!

I guess you could try using a different email. I tried it on the website, not the app and it added the code. I don’t actually want the calendar as I must not buy anymore but thought I would test it.

Bless Me, fellow beauty addicts, for I have sinned. This is not my first confession.

I bought the SFAC off EBay for £290.

It arrived today and I must say, I MUCH prefer it to the HFAC. I may even sell the Harrods.

I am not sorry, but I am poor. However, I will smell divine to the end of my days.

Same, just had it delivered. My husband bought it from eBay also for £290. I am so happy to have it. But feeling bad that he had to pay more for it. Was so glad it was all intact as I can see how easily the bottles can be broken.

IDontHateRainbows · 26/10/2026 13:46

Broken bottles you would fare better on ebay than dealing with selfridges directly, probably would get a decent part refund. Think of the extra payment as insurance!

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 26/10/2026 13:56

Really glad folks are getting the SFAC for a reasonable price. Soothes my SFAC guilt!

I’m considering opening one of the calendars during November as a birthday calendar. Cakevent? I want to open the more popular ones during December as I bet the threads will be a hoot, but maybe I can go for perhaps the Sentier for November. I feel like I’m the only one that bought it!
Anyone else doing a November calendar? Trying to think of a better name for it but failing. Leafvent, autumnvent?

SheilaFentiman · 26/10/2026 14:00

I use badvent for birthday-advent but have confused others who think I mean a bad AC :)

Fawkesvent?

Fawkesvent is perfect, that’s my birthday! Nailed it!

My main BAC is Harrods, but I've just got the Champneys one from Boots (£34.50) and am going to open it during November. I happened to have run out of all my nice smelling body wash/bubble bath etc so thought it would be a nice little treat. All mini sizes but all lovely.

peanutbutterlife · 26/10/2026 14:29

pinkchampagne1 · 26/10/2026 12:08

If anyone is interested in SNK advent, you can get 20% off first orders using code FIRST20 which takes it down to £220. You could use a different email address if it isn’t your first order. Shame it doesn’t stack with the gwp

I used Quidco for 15% cashback and got £25 of indulge points too as they were offering that (not sure if still on)

TheOnlyMrsW · 26/10/2026 14:47

Have been lurking and following to look at all of the lovely calendars, finally decided on SpaceNK after seeing it in the shop on Saturday but the GWP doesn't seem to work with the calendar and Quidco/TopCashback are both excluding calendars from their cashback deals 😫

LagoLady · 26/10/2026 14:49

I haven’t had time to keep up, so perhaps it’s already been said - but there’s a free goodie (goody)? bag with the Cult Beauty advent

Oh that’s crap! It was 15% cashback

Oh that’s rubbish. Can you not use a different email and get the 20% off first order code?

Yep! Tbh the cashback is a nice to have but the GWP is one of the things that swung it, but it doesn't seem to be eligible with the calendar so now need to have a think again

Thelifeofawife · 26/10/2026 15:10

RipplePlease6 · 26/10/2026 11:15

@Thelifeofawife
Ah that sounds great.
So they’re available from 1st November?

I believe so, yes. And if you’ve not ordered before (or have a new email you can use) you can get £5 off.

They are great value, if it’s your main brand then it’s worth stocking up with a few sets

pinkchampagne1 · 26/10/2026 15:13

It is a shame the gwp doesn’t work with the calendar. If it had done then I imagine the calendar would have sold out quite quickly

pinkchampagne1 · 26/10/2026 15:24

The new CB gwp does seem to work with their advent calendar if anyone is tempted with that one

When we were all speculating on price before full details were released, I had £350 as my limit for the SFAC. Obviously not ideal to pay extra but still a great deal for £290 in my opinion.

Some people may have started opening their calendars in October. Can’t think who 🫣

I’ve finished opening my Selfridges calendar. Moving on to John Lewis after half term! Can’t open them all at once, not enough time in the day to open that many drawers 😂

Peridot1 · 26/10/2026 17:03

There are so many SFACs on eBay that the price is bound to come down further. Lowest I have just spotted is £285. If people are tempted I would wait it out a bit longer.

Definitely! And the certainty of having it , in your home, intact, without waiting for another drop and stress cycle! Worth the top up £.

I've also opened my Selfridges calendars. I'm saving F&M BAC and Harrods HFAC for December.

I've logged the items that I'm keeping from Selfridges BAC and checked the use by dates - a lot is okay until 2029

Wonderskin All day lip stain in XoXo - 10/04/2028
Laneige Glaze Craze tinted lip serum in Blueberry Jelly - 30/06/2028
Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Matte Mini Flawless Setting Spray - 01/12/2028
Dr Barbara Sturm Hyaluronic Serum - 31/01/2029
Gucci L'Obscure mascara in 01 Eve Black - 06/02/2029
Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist - 02/03/2029
Maria Nila Floral Hair Mist - 03/04/2029
Huda Beauty Blush Filter palette in Rose Berry - 08/04/2029
Burberry Brit lip shine in Rose Petal - 14/04/2029
Rodial Bee venom super serum - 24/04/2029

Anything not listed I either couldn’t find batch info for it, I’ve started using it, or I’ve sold it

ETA - also saving the Oh My Cream! BAC til December

I've heard tell that some people may have cracked open their BACs, decanted the contents into the appropriate baskets/cupboards and got ChatGPT onto perfect hybrid regimens within 30 minutes of delivery.

And then gone to order more so that they had 'something to open' during, y'know... Advent.

Beautyfox · 26/10/2026 18:14

Just spotted this and it must of passed me by. I will be watching this for Black Friday offers. I really like it and its simplicity. Every day you get a 10ml fragrance. However, I think it’s over priced and I really do have far too much but I can always be tempted by an offer.
