Slim jeans ... can we wear them yet?

My teenage daughter looked at what I picked up on a whim yesterday and said, 'It's 2026 ... why are you buying slim jeans."

But I really like them ... I wanted something other than blue/black jeans which I can't wear to work ... and they had my 'long' size in stock ... can I keep them? 🤔

I think this is what a bootcut was invented for...

Can’t wear knee length or thigh length boots with a boot cut.

I wonder what we'd look like if we all dressed according to our teenage daughter's fashion opinions .... ?

I wear slim/ straight jeans all the time because wide leg don't suit me and look a bit ridiculous.

Wear what you like.

What sort of shitty relationship would you have to have where your own kid can’t give an opinion,

Of course they can have an opinion. Doesn't mean it's the right one however, and no child of mine would be influencing what I wanted to wear. I can't imagine OP's daughter takes fashion advice from her. Despite what they might think teenagers are not some sort of oracle.

Oh, that's interesting, because I've been shopping today (my day off) and there were loads of skinny jeans in the shops. 😂

Perhaps the fashion industry forgot to run its plans past you before putting them on the rails.

If you're struggling to find them, try Googling "skinny jeans". You'll be confronted with a dazzling array of options. They're hardly an endangered species.

I'm sorry the prospect of their return seems to be causing you such distress. Do feel free to make use of the radical acceptance resources I helpfully provided above. I like to think of it as a little public service. 😘

I’ve never seen a poster put so many laughing emojis at their own jokes as you have on this thread. And there are hundreds and hundreds of catwalk shows a year, some will have slim jeans on them. This is hardly the conclusive proof you seem to be obsessed with that skinnies are making a huge comeback. That, and an old article from February.

Yes I recall when they came in, so many saying they’d never wear them, they look like turnip legs, so unflattering.

before skinnies it was boot cut in the main, low rise with some tapered mom jeans,

it normally takes 20 - 30 years before a fashion comes back and each one lasts about ten years.

so skinnies went out of fashion 5 years ago with wide leg starting to make an appearance as skinnies tailed out of fashion at the same time, reaching its peak in 24 when skinnies were obsolete and wide, barrel, puddle etc took over fully,

so if history is anything to go by, we will have wide leg etc in fashion till at least the early 2030s, and skinnies won’t make a come back until about 2050s. But with a modification,

skinnies were last in fashion in the 80s where they were called drain pipes. And had slight differences , ie drain pipe had no stretch and no breathing room at the ankle, the same Jean. Just a slight modification

peiple saying they are coming back in, are not designers with some insight, more the remaining people who don’t want to let theirs go. Same as when they came in fashion, people were saying no way would they stop wearing their boot cut jeans,

Some of us didn't stop wearing our bootcut jeans, and never will 😅

Because style doesn't always equate to fashion. Personally I find the most stylish people work out what looks good on them and ignores the whims of fashion trends.

I second this. Style and fashion are not the same - and this board is called Style and Beauty, not Fashion and Beauty.
