Slim jeans ... can we wear them yet?

My teenage daughter looked at what I picked up on a whim yesterday and said, 'It's 2026 ... why are you buying slim jeans."

But I really like them ... I wanted something other than blue/black jeans which I can't wear to work ... and they had my 'long' size in stock ... can I keep them? 🤔

I wear various shapes of jeans including a slim pair from Next. I think with style and fashion it's often the case that young people move as a herd, wanting to fit in. When you get a bit older I think you learn what actually suits you and more importantly what you like. I have loose jeans too, and flares, and straight, nothing wrong with variety.

I’m laughing at those of you who are having flashbacks to wet hemlines on wide leg jeans in the 1990’s - I can remember the same in the 1970’s!

At first I stopped wearing skinny jeans when they went out of fashion but I’ve now decided if I want to wear a pair in the next few months with a pair of boots then I will. I absolutely refuse to take any sort of advice from a generation that puts their hands up and clap with their thumb and middle finger!!

I spent the day in London and saw a surprising amount of slim and skinny jeans, maybe they are coming back in a small way.

I’ve not stopped wearing them! I love a slim ankle grazing jean in the summer and in the winter boots and skinnies are so much more practical. I really think anything goes with jeans atm.

Those of us who don’t give much of a fuck about ‘fashion’, and who like to buy what suits us, will still buy slim jeans.
TBH I often wonder how anyone can actually like the extra wide leg and barrel leg jeans/trousers. To me they are mostly hideous, and don’t look good even on the 5’ 10” size 8 models they typically use to advertise them.

I wear straight slim jeans, I’m wearing them right now! I also wear barrels, flares and wide legs. I prefer no stretch though, I think they keep their shape better. I wear my looser tops with the slimmer jeans.

I think you have to be slim for the wide leg jeans to suit.

I think jeans are one item to allow you to keep up with trends and I don’t like looking dated so will look forward to the next style though still like my wide legs currently and not fancying going skinny again. Not with my new meno barrel tummy

Who cares what teenagers think? They have terrible taste in fashion and music. It’s like when I read a recipe and someone says “The kids love it!” and I just think “Never mind, then.”

I wear skinny jeans because I’m 5ft and a size 8. Wide leg jeans look stupid on me and I hate the feel of them

You’re buying them because it’s 2026 and grown women can wear what they want - even what looks good on them rather than what teenagers deem fashionable.

Skinny jeans are the new Mum Jeans. 😄

Completely agree /only wear skinnies and the barrels are utterly hideous.

I will never give up my Levi skinny jeans! They were too expensive to live in the cupboard 🤣. And who cares, if you like them then wear them.

I have a very opinionated DD21 who usually gets the response 'not asking you to wear them am i?' when she tells me she doesnt like something.
Personally I quite like those jeans so would keep them.
Its always an option to wear them when you want her to leave you alone 🤣🤣

Purchase what you want it’s your money. I bought some stressed jeans. My daughter who was early twenties at the time told me to donate them as they had rips in them. I replied with. “I just bought them from M&S”
Nothing else was said on the matter ever. I still wear them. She will be 30 soon enough. I am not fast fashion.

Tbh I only have barrel jeans because a man wrote an article commenting how they’d repel men, naturally I went online immediately to purchase some.

I absolutely love skinny jeans with boots and a chunky jumper in winter, I’ve worn them for years and no intention of stopping. Wide jeans are ok for summer but they’re wrong for winter IMHO

I am a similar size, and swapped my skinnies for straight leg recently. I do look rather fetching in them, if I say so myself.

Oh don't post that type of comment! I got slated once for daring to pass a similar comment on what I thought was simply an "active board" without realising it was also "Style and Beauty" of which I have neither.
