New thread. Welcome back everyone. It's taken a while to get through the last due to how busy the advent threads have been.

All the holiday releases are coming out now and Black Friday is looming. So take a seat and buckle up. 😊

@ShineDespiteEverything I've got the 300ml Detox shampoo as advertised and a 89ml Detox shampoo instead of the 89ml body wash. I actually bought the set for the shampoo as it’s a staple and I’ve almost run out of my current bottle, but I’m still annoyed as I wanted to try the body wash for Ouai 😅 not sure if they run out of the body wash mins and substituted with the Detox minis instead 🤷🏻‍♀️

IlovePond · 17/10/2026 18:29

@SavageGarden23 - thank you for the reminder - that did occur to me when I read about the sale, but then I put it to the back of my mind.

Tbf, Boots was last sold only 18 months ago and I don’t think most customers noticed, plus they would PROBABLY give us some notice if loyalty schemes were changing but…🤷‍♀️

I will definitely spend mine before Xmas.

Contenders for use of my precious points include:

Boots FAC
Or
Boots x StyleKorean a/c
Or
A Boots x Icons set if one appeals between now and the end of the year, (kicking myself for missing the SbyAimee)
Or
Foundation from (???) to replace the discontinued EL DW - but would wait until there was a promo/GWP

Eek! @SavageGarden23 you make a very good point. I’ve got around £300 in Boots points to spend. No idea why I can’t bring myself to use them (although I think maybe in part because none of the discount offers work with them so I always end up rolling over) but that’s a very good nudge.

ETA: I just checked. £290!!!!

Edited

All of Boots online promotions and discount codes work when paying with points. Only it is rare to see promotions in store.

Yes Boots has been sold to the same company that owns Brown Thomas. The article I’ve read also mentions that Boots had a strong year on year growth in revenue and profitability. I strongly believe it is to do with recycling program. Before it, I would never shop at Boots and now I’m there every week 😄 You get £5 worth of points but when you are spending them, it only costs Boots the cost of inventory, not actual £5 retail, if that makes sense. In return they get returning customers and can move inventory faster and buy cheaper in bulk.

All this to say that I love their recycling program and I hope it stays, otherwise I’ll be shopping elsewhere 🤞

ShineDespiteEverything · 17/10/2026 18:47

@user593so sorry about the grandma. It’s nice to know the points are there when you’ll need them. Some people manage to buy Dyson from their points, and now Boots stocks Apple airpods and other devices 🙂
@JPMJulizoh nice but I get it now 😄 would’ve been nice to try it. I am surprised how quickly it sell out. It was a good deal though. Enjoy x

Thank you ♥️ My DP is showing some interest in an Oura ring, and I noticed they have those now. I’ve already got AirPods and a Dyson, I really don’t need anything big, and it seems a shame to fritter it away on frivolities!

MrsBnow12 · 17/10/2026 18:58

@user593 I don’t have as many points as you but have been saving them for the Showstopper. Normally around mid November they launch a box called Showstopper for around £90, this has been my motivation as want to use points to get it this year.

Every person that I talked to who has the Oura ring is loving theirs, it cemented it for me that it would be worth an investment sometime in future (when we’re done doing the house up!). If Boots are doing any discounts on those during the BF sales - I’d say go for it unless it’s only your DH who wants one 😅

It also looks like I’m missing out on the Boots recycling scheme but the closest store that accepts the scheme is a trek away so I’ve been putting it off for a long time, but I’ve got two full M&S paper bags full 🙈🤦🏻‍♀️ might be worth it in the long run!

definitely 😀 maybe worth finding other excuse to visit the area. Just be aware that they only accept 1 beauty deposit per day. So unfortunately we can’t do multiple deposits in one day to save a trip.

Fillybuster · 17/10/2026 19:14

@MrsBnow12 it looks like they’re getting ready with the showstopper as I can see the listing and contents, despite it not being available. They had this with the various boxes I bought over the summer in the weeks ahead of them being available.

On frivolities, I support the Josephine Tey quote:

…She would fritter it away, of course, in small unimportances; so that in the end she would not know what she had done with it; but perhaps a series of small satisfactions scattered like sequins over the texture of everyday life was of greater worth than the academic satisfaction of owning a collection of fine objects at the back of a drawer.

I love this! ♥️

I love the Boots Recycle scheme. Im currently have £295 saved. Ive no idea what im saving towards. The more i save, the more i just want to keep going rather than spend it😁

I think the one that can be seen is last year’s - it looks very familiar

I’d say remove code and try one of these
Cult Beauty:
CBXGENIE
CBSALI
CBAFF
BDCB

Thank you for these but they didn't work either.
Ah well. I don't really need anything at all. I do like the new make up edit they have though and the luminous skin is fab.

NC543210 · 17/10/2026 20:37

The showstopper is great. I have had it two years running and split it for stocking gifts for my dds.

And yes to an oura. I love mine, it has really helped me connect the dots when I'm not feeling great etc.
And confirmed I am a terrible sleeper!

John Lewis travel essential beauty bag has 20% off

I found this at John Lewis & Partners. What do you think?

Edited: annoyingly the link won’t post from the app.

I am curious if Liberty will be getting Suqqu holiday collection, I am a huge fan of the brand.

Still kicking myself for missing out on their pre-summer collection 153 quad.

They should. The might be a slight delay in stocking as occasionally, brands have exclusive deals with other retailers for a few weeks. For example, Lisa Eldridge's products usually launch a few weeks later on Liberty compared to her website or other retailers.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 17/10/2026 23:01

I could do with some recommendations on under eye corrector, concealer and general eye prep before make up, if anyone has the time to help me. I’m dealing with a couple of new problems - my eyes are now quite sensitive so if I persist in using a product that irritates them, it can take an hour for them to calm down again, and the skin under my eyes, despite being fed regularly with creams, tries to pretend it is starving to death at any social engagement.

Clearly the solution to the first one is to stop wearing the Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser (which makes me rather sad because it’s lovely), but are crepey under eyes at 41 just the way it is now? Not entirely helped by losing 80lbs.

This is a bit of a plea for help. The rest of my make up looked really nice but the whole eye area looked… not good.
