Your foot is meant to be the length between your inner elbow & wrist but that can’t work for the poster who is 5ft 9 but a size 3

Edited

I am the stumpy footed poster. I have just put my foot on my lower inner arm and it’s shorter by quite some margin. I then got extremely lanky, size 9 son to do it and his foot is also considerably shorter than his lower arm. Perhaps we’re all a bit wrong.

binofbags · 15/10/2026 21:47

I think the majority fit roughly but there will always be outliers.

One thing I do notice is people who tend to dress well, look good in a bin bag etc tend to have very good proportions.

binofbags · 15/10/2026 21:48

@Maireas from memory we all pretty much “fit” but this was the 80s so teaching was very different 😆

You couldn't risk it now!

Well, we're back to the foot conversation!

I feel like I’ve seen Meghan in this type of look many times before - polo/midi skirt/cost. I know the coat is meant to be oversized but this swamps her. The colour is gorgeous but don’t think it is one of her best colours. Someone mentioned Jennifer Chamandi shoes, and I agree they would have worked better and added some interest.

Serenster · 16/10/2026 08:22

I liked Meghan’s look in abstract, but the “not quite matching” between all the pieces distacted, I think. The skirt is from The Fold - they have some lovely toning tops on their site also, so for a more cohesive look Meghan could have gone for one that matched better than her jumper did. And I was not a fan of the miles too big belt around her waist. Overall, it looked like a look I had cobbled together from existing pieces in my wardrobe - which given everything she was wearing was new was presumably not the look she was going for. 😀

Christian looks very poised. I love how the scarlet jacket and sky blue sash bring out how blue his eyes are!

smilesy · 16/10/2026 11:29

I think also that Meghan dresses for the season, rather than the weather. She has often been seen in big coats when it is really too hot to wear one. Yes she is used to Cali weather but she should have acclimatised to our weather by now and even in Cali she has worn big coats when it is warm. I also think the bare leg look is odd with all that autumnal
styling - big coat, polo neck and no tights. I’m not a fan of tights, apart from opaque ones, so I tend to stick to trousers when the weather is a bit in between 🤷‍♀️

Burgundy is a great colour for Meghan as she really suits jewel tones. However, the different shades clash and the overall impression is a bit sloppy.

She tried a similar colour scheme almost exactly 7 years ago as a working royal. I don't think it worked then either.

I think she looks a bit bar-maid-y in this photo, and her bust looks bigger than usual -🙄

frugalkitty · 16/10/2026 20:46

One of my favourite memories from school was out physics teacher laying on a bed of nails and asking us to stand on him! Couldn't do that now 😂

Good grief! 😱
We're not even allowed to sit on a desk. Or have a hot drink without a lid.

OK, I think I can top that. The secondary school I attended was all-girls, but shared a site with an all-boys school (they merged a few years later). At the boys' school, one of the German teachers used to threaten recalcitrant students with a Luger pistol that he kept in his desk (my brother was at the school and my mum taught at the girls' school, and they both told me).

Oddly enough, when the schools merged, he found that doing the same thing to girls was.... ummmm... frowned upon (although it should also have been frowned upon for the boys, obviously).

I'm sure someone on here will recognise the schools!

Bar- maid-y? Oh come on, it's a brown polo neck sweater! Not a great fit but hardly Moll Flanders!

Felipe really needs to get all the male royals in Europe on a zoom call and do a master class in tailoring and fit.

It helps that Felipe never wears ready made suits. For decades Jaime Gallo made his suits/tailored pants and after he died Sastreria Serna took over. Same with the shirts - he's been wearing tailored made shirts from Camiseria Burgos forever. His only clothing from a rack is jeans, shorts and t-shirts.

Felipe's downfall used to be his informal clothing. His grandpa jeans were awful but he's improved in the last few years. The jeans are a slimer fit and he looks really good in casual now.

In all honesty, he's one of the few royal men I've never seen badly dressed!

I agree Maireas. Him and the late Prince Phillip are miles ahead of any other royal men in style. They are/were impeccably tailored.

Philip always looked very well turned out, I agree.

I usually don't care for what Stephanie of Luxembourg wears but she looks very nice here.
https://www.newmyroyals.com/2026/10/grand-duchess-stephanie-visits-dropin.html?m=1

She looks really good. Her hair looks lovely (has she cut it?) and the tailored jacket really suits her.

Like you I don't always like what she wears but she looks happy and confident and people in Luxenbourgh apparently like her a lot.

Maireas · 17/10/2026 07:27

An Armani suit is a good choice, it's low key and not too fussy. I like her hair, it's a bit more of a casual style.

Felipe is helped in his sartorial achievements by being very tall and lean, with good posture. I believe he's 6'4".

Absolutely, and for very tall men, it can be tricky, but he carries it well.
