Can you give me your bestest, affordable and softest eyeliners ?.

They must be soft, really soft. Ideally not too pricey unless you convince me I won't be disappointed. Not gel, standard old school kohl type.

Gave up wearing it a while ago and going to try again..thanks in advance

I bought a Victoria Beckham satin kajal but only because I got a hefty discount from Space NK. I doesn't stay put very well on me. I've been looking at Zoeva as the colours look great, but they're seriously pricey and the sets on offer aren't the colours I'm interested in.

In the past I've liked Avon Glimmersticks and they're £4.50 so I may get some. I last bought some over 10 years ago - you can buy directly online nowadays.

e.l.f. are good for a cheaper range - they do a smoky kohl eyeliner in a range of colours for £4. Worth trying.

I have the elf smoky one mentioned above and it's great!

Thanks Dundee.
If softness was a range with one being scratchy and ten being smooth and silky, how would you rate the elf one please?

I love Boots No. 7 eye pencils.
So soft.
Lots of colours.
I also have 2 of Victoria Beckham’s satin kajal eye liners.
They are soft too.
But Boots No. 7 is very underrated.
They are as soft as VBs but they don’t have the cachet (or the price !).
Likewise Hildun eye pencils are soft but No.7 are just as good.

Urban Decay are the softest I’ve ever found, but they’re not cheap. They do last well though.

nextchapterplease · 12/09/2026 13:54

Zoeva fan here too ! Stopped bankrupting myself with the VB ones now .

iloveanearlynight · 12/09/2026 13:54

I love Avon glimmersticks. Cosmic brown is the one I use. I buy on eBay or Amazon usually.

Decorhate · 12/09/2026 13:56

Sephora do ones that twist up rather than being a pencil iyswim

Jdonwh · 12/09/2026 13:59

Avon glimmersticks, or old school Rimmel kohl pencil. I love the Rimmel pencil in grey

Weirdconditionaltense · 12/09/2026 14:28

Thanks everyone. Getting some great suggestions. Lots of love for Avon. They're under £5.50 on Amazon. I'd be bonkers not to give that a go. Many thanks :)

The VB one is super super soft.

The VB one is super super soft.

But also super pricey! I'll have a look at the No7 ones so thanks for that recommendation.

ChiliFiend · 12/09/2026 16:53

The Glossier No.1 pencil is very soft and so is the Charlotte Tilbury eyeliner (pricey but they last all day and both of them still perfect after a hard workout, so worth trying if the cheaper options don't work). The problem with super soft eyeliners is that they go down quickly so you need a good sharpener - with the Glossier one I had to buy the Glossier sharpener (but I do have that pencil in several colours, and I use it on the CT pencil too).

Squirrelsnut · 12/09/2026 16:59

Avon Glimmersticks are very good.

Fizbosshoes · 12/09/2026 17:02

I have a tropics one that is very soft, its a twist up one rather than an actual pencil

Rainallnight · 12/09/2026 17:03

Bourjois

Hellorainyday · 12/09/2026 17:10

Are the Avon Glimmersticks suitable for older ladies that have crinkly eyelids? I struggle to draw a straight line so it needs to be quite forgiving!

Squirrelsnut · 12/09/2026 17:14

Yes they are.
If you want some amazing colours, Kaleidos eyeliners are a beautiful formula too.

Vicliz24 · 12/09/2026 17:25

I buy the felt tip eyeliner from Essence at Primark . Draws a perfect line and stays put all day . About £2.50

Cherrycola4 · 12/09/2026 17:32

I bought a Boots 17 kohl liner in gold and have worn it all summer, it was only £2.50. It’s soft and applies in one easy swipe. Black eye liner seems to age me now.

I bought the VB and the Zoeva eyeliners but the ELF one beats them hands down.

MyOliveViewer · 12/09/2026 17:40

Collection soft brow pencil used as an eyeliner -£3.

Banjas · 12/09/2026 17:48

I have had a couple of Urban Decay and an Avon Glimmerstick and Charlotte Tilbury and as I posted earlier 2 VB ones and a Hildun one.
Boots No 7 pencils are still up there imho and with a really good colour choice.

hamnish · 12/09/2026 17:52

Another under the radar eyeliner winner for me is Laura Geller - usually heavily discounted on her own site.

Is it possible to say which you beleive are the softest? I realise the softest may also smudge. Even so, which do you rate as the softest please? Cheers
