I satisfied my need for another advent with the Fortnum and Mason tea and biscuits one.

I’m hankering after the Jo Malone now but am away for a week , is it likely to sell out quickly does anyone think . I don’t want delivery whilst I’m away because postie leaves everything at the front gate .

I don't think the single brand ones sell out as quickly - last year there were loads in the run up to xmas.

The cheaper Sephora advent calendar is now out here , but even as someone who doesn't use make up or skin care, it seems not as nice as the last year version - 2 separate hair accessories - both in rainbow sequins, tweezers, pencil sharpener and a scalp massager - feels like 20% of the calendar is filler rather than products. Feels less good than last year which my nieces 18 + 24 were v happy with

At £59.99 for the Sephora, it seems to me like ASOS or Glossybox (which were on my list while I was waiting for Sephora) are worth the extra £20-30, would people agree?

@ApiratesaysYarrr - I don’t rate ASOS either, but it’s better than the Sephora. GB is the best by a long way imo - especially if the recipients would like the Commodity perfume that is the big draw.

If your nieces get on and are in a position to swap stuff, maybe get ASOS for one of them and GB for the other?

Can I ask why posters don't rate ASOS? I thought it's very good this year and was kicking myself for missing the 20% discount on it. Why is Glossybox better?

Re: ASOS - my reasons for not loving it this year:

CT wand - appears in everything
Candle - weird
Spot patches
Lots of small sized products, (although that’s par for the course with many calendars)
The Iconic palette contains talc

You are right, though - there are lots of nice things in it.

Edited to say:

GB wins for me over ASOS because I quite like the Commodity Milk perfume and I would use everything, (albeit some of it without much enthusiasm), except the eyelash curlers and the primer).

In fact I am now wondering why I haven’t bought GB!

I think it’s because it’s not quite as good as last year’s, (which I dithered about and then missed out on).

@IlovePond , if you like Commodity I can recommend the Commodity sample set. It's really nice and comes with a booklet about the fragrances and layering tips. I'm getting another one for my niece for Christmas when CB do another 20% off.

Are the sephora ACs in store does anyone know? I'll be passing one later today. Also going near a Space NK. I cant' rely on them being sent out quickly but if I see one in store I'll be tempted to grab it.

I’ve been through stuff with my other son and his mental health, this was different sort off as it was school that made him unwell. He is in a better place, but it was awaful to go through to see him so unwell and suic**al

Sounds like we both had a bad day @JoRaRaRa , sorry to hear about your car, am glad you didn’t get hurt. I have anxiety over driving, not great when I have to drive at work to visit people. Weekends I try to avoid it and my husband drives.

It’s coming up as £75 for me with an extra coupon. Sadly I don’t want it though!

Just got an email from brown Thomas telling me I have points that will expire on 30th September. I guess if the advent goes on sale before that, I’ll have to buy it so the €6.50 in points doesn’t go to waste. I’m sure that’s a sound financial decision. Those particular points were actually free as I returned the item a couple of months later as it was faulty and they couldn’t source a replacement so they refunded me.
