Grenson shoes - any thoughts?

What are your thoughts on these shoes?

If you like them that’s all that matters. Personally I don’t like them but have a friend who looks fantastic in ugly clumpy shoes. She has slim bony ankles which appears to be the key to suiting them.

Christ - they look really heavy. And the Goodyear bit — does that mean the soles are made from actual tyres??

Love Grenson shoes . And I like those too.

Goodyear welt shoe construction refers to the way the shoe is made - upper and sole are both stitched separately to the welt, so if the sole wears out you can effectively unpick it and stitch a new one to the welt.

Try Solovair if you like well made UK shoes.

Grenson is a superb brand. These are too chunky for me but I recognise they are stylish, balanced and will suit a certain person and style.
as for the tyre comment m, some of us live in the country and don’t want to slip over every time we go out. We have delicate and high heels for other occasions

Grenson were v fashionable a few years ago, lots of 'gifting' to influencers. They seem to be less so these days. I'm a fan of ugly shoes but Grenson always looked really hard and difficult to break in to me. No idea if that's the case.

Never heard of solovair, and only looked them up because of your post.

1. the brand name doesn’t sound British at all so I’d never have considered them, it’s awful.
2. made in the region of good British shoes so happy to take that seriously, but the designs are something from the 80s. Not a take on that, just exceptional old fashioned and not in a retro way.

I have several pairs of Grenson shoes and I love them. They are incredibly comfortable and the ones with soles like this are not heavy at all. I only buy in the sale though!

Grenson make some nice shoes.

In terms of the style that's up to you, but practically speaking I'd want to know if the whole lace was changeable so that it could be made all black if preferred.
