@pinkchampagne1 I'm so sorry to read this 🩷 I know how incredibly difficult this stage is, having been through it with my husband's mum. You know it's coming, but you don't want it to, and somehow knowing it's inevitable doesn't make it any easier when the time comes. It's such a heartbreaking time, especially when you're trying to support the people you love whilst dealing with all the emotions yourself.

It sounds like you've got so much going on at the moment, especially with your scan as well. I really hope that goes okay today and that you get some answers. Thinking of you and your family and sending you lots of love 😘 xx

Sorry you have also been through this - it is really tough. 😞 I identify with everything you say about trying to remain strong for your loved ones while feeling so emotional yourself. We knew he was very unwell but things have escalated so quickly. One day we hear they have kept him in hospital for tests, next day we get the news both his kidneys have failed and it is now end of life and then the next day (yesterday) we find out he will probably only have a few weeks. 😒 He is such a lovely man and is taking it on the chin. So hard to see him so unwell.

Anyway, sorry to bring the thread down as this is a happy place and I know a welcome distraction for others going through tough times. β™₯️

Sminty2 · 06/09/2026 11:05

@pinkchampagne1 Sending lots of love and virtual hugs. It’s an awful thing to go through and you are not bringing anything down.

You need all of our best wishes, I know how sapping it feels xx

I’m so sorry you’re having such a difficult time @pinkchampagne1, sending thoughts and hugs.

Fillybuster · 06/09/2026 11:23

@pinkchampagne1 sending so much love your way.

I hope these threads continue to provide a place of distraction, comfort & support for everyone going through difficult times at the moment. It’s important to hold onto the things that can give you a boost when times are hard. πŸ’œπŸ’

Thelifeofawife · 06/09/2026 11:35

@pinkchampagne1 So sorry to hear you’re going through such a difficult time. It’s so heartbreaking to watch someone you love going through that, and the impact on the family.
I went through similar with my grandma. She was being kept in for observation and seemed okay by the time I left her at night, I was expecting her to be discharged the next day, but instead we were told that she was end of life. I couldn’t get my head around the sudden deterioration, and it was so tough over the following weeks.

The added stress and pain from your gynae issues are the last thing you need to be dealing with. I really I hope your scan brings some positive news for you πŸ’

Peridot1 · 06/09/2026 11:39

Sorry to hear about what you are going through @pinkchampagne1. Sending you best wishes.

Puravida23 · 06/09/2026 11:43

Sorry to hear so many posters are going through tough times .
For those people who have received Elle. When did you order? I ordered Tuesday but have heard nothing since. Did you get a despatch notice soon after or did it just arrive.

ClutteredPalace · 06/09/2026 11:44

So sorry you're going through this @pinkchampagne1, sending hugs and the hope that this thread helps bring a bit of a distraction from everything πŸ’πŸ’πŸ’

I ordered the day it launched, sorry can’t recall when it was but think the week before and yes got an email from Hearst with tracking and was RM tracked 48hours

JoRaRaRa · 06/09/2026 12:18

@pinkchampagne1 Omg! That is so hard and sad. I can't even imagine how he, your husband and family feels to be suddenly given that news.

Please don't apologise, you've not brought the thread down at all ❀️ plus we're on the last few pages anyway πŸ˜‰ I think that's one of the lovely things about these threads, they're a bit of an escape from everything else going on in life, and there's nothing wrong with talking about the difficult things alongside all the frivolous, fun stuff.

Everything has happened so quickly, that must be so emotional for you all. It was similar with my MIL, we were told on the Sunday and she passed away on the Wednesday. We were waiting for the news a bit though. This was last year, I was particularly lucky in that I'd grieved for her early, she had Alzheimer's and started thinking my husband was her brother, so she was confused when I would say I was his wife. It was upsetting her so much that I decided not to see her anymore. I attended her birthday celebration which was such a happy day but then left my husband to just go with his daughter to see her (she was in a care home and wasn't allowed to come out anymore).

It's so heartbreaking watching someone you love become so unwell 😒 Thinking of you and your family and sending lots of love ❀️ xx

I’ve just checked and I have indeed ordered Elle. I ordered it on the 30th and it delivered on the 5th. I was very confused yesterday when I had a Royal Mail notification saying they had delivered a parcel from SP. I was trying to work out which advent I had ordered but it turns out it was Elle. πŸ™ˆ still not sure how that corresponds with SP though?

It didn't sell well last year. Ended up discounted by about 30%. I have a feeling they're not going to do one.

M&S is Β£75 this year and the Boots is Β£70 skincare and Β£150 luxe. I think there is a No7 one currently at half price Β£65. Ive looked at the H&B contents and think its amazing value for Β£60 and would really suit you if you're looking for skincare. Id move fast though as it sold out really quickly last year. It would probably be best buying an eye shadow separately instead of relying that one in an advent might suit. Would you go into a store for advice? Or you could upload a photo to chatgpt and ask for recommendations. Ive done this really successfully before. If youre not confident applying shadow the cremes and eyeshadow sticks are brilliant. I like bobbi brown or rare beauty. Elf and Essence are cheap but surprisingly good quality if you want to experiment.

Thank you. It's in my basket. I'm not very good at treating myself and I'm upset today so not sure emotional shopping is the way to go. I just dropped one of my children at the airport and with them working and others travelling I won't see any of my kids for at least another six weeks. I live alone and I'm feeling their absence today.

Where I now live the shopping is rubbish and I don't think there is anyone qualified to help with colours.

I have never used ChatGPT. Is it easy to do? Not technology clever.

Aww that must be really hard 🩷

If you're not usually very good at treating yourself, maybe this is exactly the time to do it πŸ₯° there's absolutely nothing wrong with buying yourself something lovely just because it will cheer you up ❀️ sometimes we deserve these little pick me ups.

ChatGPT is really easy to use, you just ask it a question or tell it what you want to discuss. I sometimes get it to design areas of my house, garden etc. You could start it by saying β€œI'm looking at beauty advent calendars and I'm trying to decide which one to buy. Can you help me?” Then tell it what you like, what you already have, your budget etc and have a chat with it πŸ˜€

IlovePond · 06/09/2026 18:45

Take care of yourself @TheSunIsAlwaysThere Be proud of yourself that your kids are able to spread their wings x

Re: Eyeshadow - if you wanted to dip your toe into colours without breaking the bank, I recommend trying either a Boots no7 palette or a couple of ELF eyeshadow sticks.

If you have a Boots no7 counter near you, the ladies on there are usually pretty helpful.

Boots also sell ELF - don’t let the fact that the kids like it put you off - their eye pencils and eyeshadows are very good.

I know you said shopping wasn’t very good where you are, but if you can get to a SpaceNK shop, the staff in there are usually very good, helpful and not β€˜snooty’ if that makes sense!

TheSunIsAlwaysThere · 06/09/2026 18:54

Thank you so much @JoRaRaRa and @IlovePond . Sorry if I've been a misery guts. Just feeling alone today. There is a Boots but no counters, just aisles with make up on. I will see if I can get on with ChatGPT. I am so wary of retail therapy going wrong that I don't buy myself much at all.

I will google to see where there is a SpaceNK but I don't think there is one nearby.

Thanks again and yes, very proud of my children. Just missing them.
