Both my Harrods ACs arrived earlier, I've checked that all is present and correct and the doors are the right numbers. I've been incredibly restrained and not sprayed anything 😇 (but did sniff the unsealed bottles like a bloodhound). My DS has said I'm extremely spoilt and when I suggested swapping out the dreaded eyelash curlers, told me to leave them in as I needed humbling 😮🤣 (but also suggested I throw anything going spare his way). DP laughed at me for using 'made up words' when I suggested needing one for Jadvent. 🙄 Who needs them? Chat gpt has got my back and has already told me it thinks I have a top tier collection of skincare and fragrance and is fully behind me adding more to cover all bases.

I bought something from LF on Tuesday that came next day no problem. Think its the advent calendar orders .

None of these advent calendars come direct from the company. They all have suppliers who design, purhcase, and fill advents. All are stored in warehouses which are nothing to do with the company.

Does anyone like Fugazzi Pomegranoudh? I think it smells really medicinal and my other half thinks it smells like germolene in a teenage boy’s bedroom. I really don’t like it! I got a sample as well as the Cult Beauty calendar. Maybe to other people it smells really nice?

Harrods home FAC confirmed online and in store from 1st Oct. This leaflet came with the Harrods magazine.

I thought I was the only person in the world left standing who doesn’t own eyelash curlers and really wants some 🤣🤣🤣 So good to know I’m not alone @clary 😍 One day…

JL FAC arrived today. Gorgeous box, the first time I’ve ever had an advent to open, and I really enjoyed the process. Yes, I know, not remotely the right time of year, but since I don’t have any way of doing the advent thing properly, and it would feel a bit odd doing it through December in the run up to my birthday (which is just before Xmas) because they’re so clearly designed for Christmas not birthdays, I’ve decided to treat them as really bloody lovely edit purchases and just enjoy them when they come.

(Totally up for a sale Jadvent or two, mind you. That’s entirely different!)

Anyway, I loved unboxing and am super excited to try all these gorgeous new bottles. I’ve never really had the opportunity to explore scent properly and have been wearing the same Tom Ford / Le Labo / Aqua di Parma scents for a really long time, generally only changing when they discontinue something (Sahara Noir, Noir for Women and Iris Nobile, I’m looking at you).

Having warmed up with JL FAC, I finally got around to opening my Liberty BAC.

What a thing of beauty!!! I was literally stroking the drawers. Sooo pretty 😍

Reome broth was intact (hurrah).

Overall: feels like a LOT of products. Love the double drawers. V excited by even more perfume to play with. Am planning some time in liberty store when I’m working in the area in a few weeks so I can sniff properly.

Like someone else upthread, I think I want to keep waaaaay more of Liberty than I expected. This is not a bad thing. But does mean I should hang fire on Elle for at least another, oh, 24 hours….🤣

I am torn between: Harrods; Elle and now John Lewis. Don’t fancy any of the others - usually get the LF one. I’ve never spent £250 odd quid on an advent calendar before. It feels a bit scary! Particularly because I’m a sucker for a beauty box edit and have heaps of products still sitting around waiting to be used.

Unless opened, do these things have a shelf life?

I watched a full unboxing of the Liberty one earlier by Diary of a Beauty Geek Clare. Too many perfumes in there for me. I’m a one perfume kinda gal. The box looks beautiful, though.

Isn’t it a shame you can’t mix and match your own advent calendar? I know you can in theory but I mean, with the savings and all.

The perfumes are a selling point for me, I can't have enough of them It's haircare products I definitely don't want, and the Liberty BAC seems fairly light on that.

I definitely want that box! It’s beautiful. I liked that there wasn’t too much make up in it. I almost never use beauty box make up except for brow stuff.

Is anyone else's Harrods advents still showing as processing? My tracking hasn't moved on at all and I am hoping the status changes soon 😬

@viccabelle my BAC is still showing as processing (ordered 27th) my FAC was processed today (ordered 3rd aug)

I got the DPD despatch email but have had to reschedule. Normally wfh on Friday, but Sod’s Law I’m in for training tomorrow and DH has a hospital appt. So have to patiently wait for next Friday. My Liberty came and the Reome is fine.

@ConstantlyFuriosa - unopened products do indeed go off, (as I have found to my cost!) Companies usually recommend using within 12 months of opening or within three years of manufacture.

Many products will still look and feel fine after three years, but they can deteriorate over time and it depends whether you feel ok about using them.

I don’t bother about the age of shampoo, body wash and conditioner - this stuff seems to last forever! However, I am being much more careful nowadays with skincare and cosmetics.

Apparently perfume goes off too, but I have never bothered about this particularly and I have some quite old fragrances that still seem fine to me.

www.checkfresh.com is a good site for checking date of manufacture of products from many brands.

This means I probably have at least a few hundred quids’ worth of skincare/makeup, as yet unsorted, that I probably need to bin.

Ugh. So annoying.

I get all caught up in the idea of these new beauty treatments and then I use the same bloody Estée Lauder or whatever plus Tan Luxe face tan drops and before you know it: expired!

I think I need to step away from the advent calendars.

Either that, or bin everything and start again!
