My spending has been bad recently but I return what I don't like and shop around looking for what I think is worth it and has value.

I needed a work tote. I ended up with this aspinal bag that I really like from the sale, much cheaper than the other ones I had considered.

Nars light reflecting foundation, huda setting powder. Don't know how I've done without these my whole life.

LA roche posay balm. I've also ordered the face wash and moisturiser so waiting for My usual stuff from the ordinary to run out, which seems to be taking forever.

Everyone is commenting on my skin just now. These are the only things I've changed.

I am addicted to buying shoes so really shouldn’t need any more but I always find a good excuse!

I’ve had two knee replacement surgeries this year and on the advice of my physio, bought some Skechers slip in trainers as I was struggling to bend down to pull on or fasten shoes. I’m old enough to get away with wearing them thankfully as they are amazing, so easy to put on and very comfortable.

My son got married this year and I bought a dress to wear, nothing terribly expensive, from Next and obviously I needed some new shoes. This was just before my second surgery and I knew that I would not cope with a heel so looked at ballet style shoes. For years I’d found walking very difficult so had bought everything online but now I could manage to get to a shop if there was parking near by. So I had a good excuse to visit an upmarket shoe shop in our town which I’d always dismissed as too expensive! I ended up with a lovely pair of Gabor ballet shoes, made of really soft leather and perfect for my new dress. I didn’t even look at the price until I paid!

Its my daughters wedding next August and obviously I’ll need a new dress but I hope to wear my Gabor shoes again, I’ve hidden them in a shoe box so I keep them in new condition!

Erborian CC cream, decided to give it a whirl after seeing it on here and I’m a convert. I don’t wear make up but this gives you a lovely glow and feels lovely ☺️

This bag from NextDirect. It was in the sale, plus it meant DS clothes order qualified for free delivery. Wink It was only after I'd had it a few days that I realised it has echoes of the Loewe puzzle bag about it, which explains why I was so smitten.

A cooking one…got sick of trying to chop herbs with a knife so just bought my first mezzaluna rocker chopper from Amazon, by Kuhn Rikon. Best tenner I’ve spent for a long time!

Some muslin pyjamas and a muslin robe, all from H&M.

A really pretty white shirt with little navy blue hearts and a pie crust collar from a French clothes shop that sells small brands. Love it, can’t wait for the weather to get cooler so I can have an excuse to wear it.
Olaplex no 6 smoothing bond cream. Has made the dry ends of my hair a lot more hydrated and helps calm my thick frizzy hair down when I style it.
The Ordinary Azelaic Acid. I ran out a few months ago and thought I didn’t need it anymore. Then the little bumps on my temples and forehead started to appear again, so 5 weeks since buying another tube of the stuff my skin is a lot smoother again and I’m getting much fewer spots. Love the stuff, mustn’t run out again!

UnderMirkwood · 30/08/2026 13:42

These last few months I've bought a lot of high end makeup and brushes to replace all the ancient cheap and cheerful stuff I threw out at the beginning of the year. Highlights include the Lisa Eldridge Betty palette, Zoeva Velvet Love eyeliner pencils in various shades, and the Dior Charmed Green eyeshadow.

Wool jumpers from Seasalt during their recent sale, lovely quality and a bit of a bargain.

These last few months have been a bit heavy on the bank account, so I am now on a financial hiatus and am just enjoying my lovely new acquisitions

Secondhand bag from a brand called Vasic, which I didn't recognise at the time so looked up later. It's in perfect condition and was 9,900¥ (about £45) versus new price for similar bags 50,000¥ (about £240).

I like it because of the unusual shape! Looks like a momo dumpling, ravioli, or fortune cookie. My husband pointed out it was good for autumn as I could thread a cardigan through the hole if I got too hot wearing it.

The new Beauty Pie Youthbomb serum - using it every night and it’s lovely.
Decided to stop buying Elemis as the prices are just getting ridiculous!
Using a sample of the new Chanel Coco Madamoiselle perfume Crush Absolu it’s absolutely beautiful. The price of a proper bottle starts at £117 so time for a Monzo pot for one.
I managed to get a couple of co-ord suits from Reiss end-of-season. No way would I have paid full price for them….
Full price Borg slippers from the White Company. One thing I will invest in as I work from home. I hate most slippers.
I tried on the new Uggs with the strap you can wear around the ankle or turn it into a clog. So so comfy but I’m too old for them.
I an always moaning about fabrics and pure cuts and I managed find some gorgeous wool coats, suits and silk shirts. The problem? All Giorgio Armani main range. I added together all the things I liked and I’d have to get a second mortgage. Euro Millions ticket done for Tuesday. I can buy dream….

SocksAndTheCity · 30/08/2026 15:12

I tried the Crush Absolu last weekend and I agree @PetulaGordeno .

I am saving up my Boots recycling points for a bottle Smile

Treated myself to some long boots for winter. Not arrived yet. Got to admit I am waiting to see them 😂

tpwk · 30/08/2026 15:17

The refy skin tint and hourglass foundation brush

Minasama · 30/08/2026 15:21

Skechers archfit trainers for indoors instead of slippers, my heels are much less painful.
Next gel nail varnish - great colours and lasts brilliantly.
Suttons bedding plants - really great value and have grown beautifully.

I bought a Jasmine non-wired bra from M&S last month after years of wearing soft crop top style ones and I'm a total convert. I cannot bear underwire but these give great support and look like a "proper" bra compared to what I have been wearing. I liked the first one so much I bought three more!

Elemis body lotion. Two pairs of shoes from Next. Half price and amazingly comfortable.

Could you link the shoes? on the hunt for comfortable shoes 👞

BatsInBelfry · 30/08/2026 17:33

Recent buys!

Bare Minerals Skin Tint stick

Clinique Nude Honey lipstick

A Brora cashmere cardigan - no buttons , very simple - in ‘petrol’ for £18 from Vinted (was £350 so a good spot there)

indigo new style carrot jeans from M & S

Faux leather Harrington jacket in ‘sage’ from m and s - I snapped up the last size 10 and indeed, the last of the online stock

chocolate brown suede slouch bag

think that’s about it for recent autumnal type spends!

RipplePlease6 · 30/08/2026 18:11

An ESPA Positivity shower gel. I love the fragrance and use it after a workout as a treat.

TheGoodOnesAreAllGone · 30/08/2026 18:30

Wide leg jeggings from Next. Lovely soft material and long length is actually long enough! (I'm 5'11")

RecorderOrder · 30/08/2026 21:13

Sezanne Chlo silk shirt in red, a Chloe cream silk shirt and me and em elongator white jeans. All Vinted and me and em sale. I need to delete my Vinted app, so many bargains and not enough money to buy them or places to where them. I genuinely addicted to it and it has to stop!

I saw a previous recommendation on S & B and I’m a convert.
Amazing value too at £10.
