Yep, they published that article speculating (wrongly) what might be in their own calendar, after the contents were leaked 😵‍💫 I think the issue I'm having is that the BACs used to be pretty aspirational, but things like the CB dripfeeding and Space NK cringe marketing no longer makes it feel that way.

Plot twist, I am a bit tempted by Selfridges I think. But probably not tempted enough.

I really like the FS Ylang Ylang Espresso, it's the only FS I particularly do like. Electric Rhubarb is okay. Hopefully I can get some absolute bargains on Vinted.

Having a dreadful holiday and this thread (and previous) is providing some distraction. Think holiday is symptomatic of wider problems I’ve been ignoring and may have to deal with but until then, this is a cosy little place to be and much appreciated.

I do think, though, if I’m going to complain unreasonably about anything, that air conditioning should never be promised if it is not, in fact, installed in any way. In 34 degree heat. With mosquitoes.

Well I thought I’d finally settled on Selfridges as my second AC but I’ve just had a look at the make-up colours and rapidly changed my mind. All far too dark for me, I’d look like Morticia Addams! I feel that many calendars contain the shades that haven’t sold well as there are some strange colours across the board. Seems like unloading the left overs to me. ☹️

I know this is a bit off Advent , but I’ve just heard that Dolly Parton has died . I am not a huge country and Weston fan but I adore her . This is so sad . So I just wanted to say her best line I ever heard her say to Parky ( Michael Parkinson) In an interview was
“ it costs a lot to look this cheap” just seemed perfect for our lovely group . Well it applies to me 😂

Oh how sad. I loved Dolly. I think that her husband dying affected her badly. 😢

I’ve just seen that too. So sad. I remember the (possibly apochryphal)?sort of someone asking how long it took to do her hair (clearly a wig) and she replied ‘I don’t know. I’m not there!’

im sure there are so many quotes from her but she always seemed lovely and did so much for children’s literacy.

I'm miles behind on the threads, struggling a bit with the long hours of my new job and adjusting to living away from home. Lots of love to @Doglover73 I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss.

There’s not one I’m set on this year - Harrods is currently the clear winner for me with possibly LF FAC both for me and Dd. I initially thought Boots FAC for her but LF is much better value. I’m hoping Elemis pull something out the bag as their products really work for me and feel I could justify that and LF FAC. The only other one I’m holding out hope on is GB , I’ve quite liked the spoilers and would be nice to have a bit of variety.
F&M always seems quite magical but yet again there’s aromatherapy associates bath oil ( I really dislike greasy bath oils) and that for me is a real dud but every year they have it . I think the first time I bought it I eventually poured it down the sink as after 6 months it smelt vile, and unfortunately can’t get past that on their calendar now. The box is lovely again though and I love F&M especially at Christmas.

@Nearlyadoctor - I've always managed to sell AA bath oils on Vinted. I hate baths and only ever shower. I also find the AA oils too strong.

I was sad to hear that Dolly Parton has died. I think her husbands passing broke her heart. My sister gave me the Dolly Parton cookbook last year and I still haven't cooked anything from it, I might do so at the weekend in honour of another Dolly quote (that I can relate to 🙂):

“My weaknesses have always been food and men - in that order.” - Dolly Parton

M&S looks dreadful - to me! Ditto SNK and, tbh, the rest of them to varying degrees except Harrods.

I was so hopeful about the JL, LF and Boots FACs, but just no 😿

Harrods BAC is still the best of a bad 2026 bunch for me so far but I am now pinning all my hopes on GlossyBox!

I’d probably use most of the things in the M&S calendar and at least they have ditched the nail varnishes, but I’m not sure the contents justify the price increase. I might get it if it gets reduced like last year.

I’m also pinning my hopes on Glossybox, and maybe the LF beauty. LF fragrance is out because I’m not keen on Pomegranate Noir.

Is no one planning to buy JL FAC? As a fragrance novice it seemed a good value to me but people dont seem excited about it.

@SavageGarden23 I'm interested in that one but I'm more interested in Selfridges. I'd get JL as a consolation prize if I can't get Selfridges but it very much depends on what order things are released in and whether JL is still available.
