I went for a day out in Chester yesterday and nearly passed out when I saw the H Beauty store, I had no idea it was there! I left my relatives for at least 20 mins to sniff some of the advent perfumes and look for fragrances in the Selfridges FAC.

It was very quiet in the store and there's a huge fragrance section. I will definitely go back one day by myself as less than an hour drive from me.

BDK Impadia was my favourite. I ordered 2 advents for the Brompton Immortals and Guidance but Impadia might top them! The lovely sales assistant gave me a sample of MFK Velvet Mood which I loved as the oud is so subtle.
I really didn't enjoy BTSO Golden Milk, because I'll have two I might keep one to see if it grows on me but I'll definitely sell one. And I already knew I'd be selling both Initio Oud for Greatness as its so overwhelming and not pleasant at all to me. However the two other Initio perfurmes from the Selfridges FAC are beautiful.

If I was alone I'd have taken photos and notes but I rushed back to my relatives who barely noticed I'd been gone!

I purchased Yepoda AC yesterday, I wanted it last year, but ended up not getting it. I used Missboux discount code so it was just over £126. I’m planning on getting GB on Thursday, hopefully I’ll be able to buy 2 one for me and one for my sister. I also plan on getting PURESEOUL when it’s released. DH has said he will get me LF FAC for Christmas and DM has said she will get me Elle for Christmas. They have both given me the money as they can’t be trusted with purchasing 😂 I think that will be more than enough but also looking at boots skin 🫤

@skiqueen20 - had ASOS for Dd ( then 16) 3 years ago and was v impressed. I pinched the Elemis pro collagen from it but it was a very suitable calendar for a teenager

I am similar to you @JoRaRaRa in thinking of buying SpaceNk and Harrods and swapping the items I want but slightly worried I might not have the energy to sell off anything I don’t want and I definitely do not need over 60 items of beauty entering the house.
Elle is also up for consideration too . I think if SpaceNk had had a different product like the eye cream or a serum I would have bought it immediately but the £90 body lotion just seems such a waste

Sorry to hear about your dad @JoRaRaRa Sending you and your family love and strength over the next few weeks.
Ive not been following anything these last few weeks as my mums been in hospital then the hospice. She passed away on Sunday, peacefully. So for that im very grateful and for her getting a place at our local hospice that only has 6 beds. 😢
She had a lot of health issues and was really struggling.

These pages will be a welcome distraction over the coming weeks whilst im juggling everything. My declutter ofcourse had to be paused but ill start again soon and im going to donate a lot to the hospice for tombolas, etc. They were amazing and I cant believe they get virtually no funding and have to raise money through events,sponsors, etc. They provided toiletries for me and my brother as we stayed several nights so im going to send loads of minis to them. Your own self care is the last thing on your mind but is very important. So please look after yourself @JoRaRaRa
I was in 2 minds whether to post it or not but just wanted to say what a lovely corner of the internet/ mumsnet this site is, along with the beauty chat one. Life is hard but being able to come here and escape even for 5 mins is so valuable.
I wasnt really going to get any advent this year unless it was supersonic but im going to as need to treat myself. ♥️
Sorry to ramble. But just wanted to let people know that these threads are a lifeline when you have so mush going on in real life as ive had these last 12 months and found these pages to escape to.

@Doglover73 So sorry about your mum. It’s coming up to the 2 year anniversary of my mum’s passing and I definitely use shopping as a distraction! I find myself thinking my mum would have wanted me to have all the lovely things! She was a shopper and so I feel it’s like some sort of homage to her!
I know how tough those first few weeks are - take care of yourself.

Oh gosh @Doglover73 I'm so sorry to hear about your mum and glad you can find some distraction in these threads. It just goes to show that while chat about beauty calendars can look superficial, it really can help people by giving them a happy place when they need it. I always used to get quite depressed in December as I have a couple of sad anniversaries then and last year, with opening my calendar each day, was the first time I was able to get through it without spiralling. I hope you can find the same comfort and a little bit of light in the dark @Doglover73 💐💐💐

Sorry to all those who are going through difficult times. Agree these threads are so supportive.

I am going to look back at the last couple and see what PPs say about the various ACs. I really only want one. Last year I had Liberty which I really rated (love a fragrance). Year before I had JLP but last year it was almost as ££ as Liberty. Maybe Liberty, the Foreo as a separate doobery and the JLP fragrance? It's a lot less ££ than some haha. That's still too much ££ tho.

But yunno. I think as long as your DC are fed and the mortgage is paid, we should spend spare ££ on what we enjoy. We have recently lost a very dear friend of mine and it struck me that it's worth living and doing what you love. And this I love.

Oh my goodness, so much love to @Doglover73 @JoRaRaRa @RainbowZebraWarrior and I imagine many others on this thread who are going through similar things. This really is the best corner of Mumsnet and the best place to be for distraction along with a gentle bit of support when it's needed.

I've just watched the Space NK video. I do think it's the best this year in terms of suitability and useability for me personally, but I have so much stuff I don't think I need it or want it enough. £275 is a lot of money, but actually if you go on Space NK and add a few items you really want you get to £200 pretty quickly, so you get a lot for your cash. I was disappointed in the influencer presenting. I've never heard of Lily Pebbles, but she didn't seem to know much about the brand or the products. What Space NK/BAC fan hasn't heard of DS &Durga? And did she say she applies the Byoma milky toner AFTER her skincare and before her makeup..? Looking forward to seeing a video from someone like Paulina from RLV, she's very honest and knows her stuff.

@owlpassport I agree, in a pragmatic sense it's good value but I'm on the fence because it's not thrilling me with any standout products except maybe the Medik8. It does have 4 proper full size serum type products and whilst they might not be the 4 I'd choose given free choice they're all in the £60 -£80 range each.

I think I'd be interested in Selfridges as something a bit different if a big part of the value was a different serum. The Bee Venom doesn't appeal.

It does have quite a few perfumes and the Burberry lipstick/Marc Jacobs eyeshadow sound nice.

I don't know quite how I've managed not to try Lola at the Coat Check to date as it's been in a lot of stuff. The notes sound like my kind of scent but that doesn't always mean anything.
