Would you consider laser treatment for larger freckles or try to embrace them?

If these freckles belonged to you, would they bother you? I've had freckles all of my life, and always hated them. Typical pale ginger freckle appreance. School wasn't an easy ride but I managed through. After a recent hot holiday aboard and no escape from the sun my freckles have gotten larger and darker. I'd like to get them lasered, but its not cheap, it flipping hurts and it will take a lot of time and care to scale them back. Just to note that i could afford it if I saved a little every month.

If you saw me out and about would you think "gosh what large freckles they are, very odd looking"? And if you had these freckles, would you laser them off?

I'm not sure if im tried of being ashamed of them and want to embrace them or just want them gone and have less freckly arms.

Kind advice is greatly appreciated.

Absolutely nothing wrong with them.

Do not put your body under stress, and spend your money on it, it’s absolutely not needed.

Fortheloveofpizza · 14/08/2026 15:03

Hate mine. Would change them without a doubt

CountryGirlInTheCity · 14/08/2026 16:52

Your freckles are completely within the realms of ‘what normal skin looks like’. My DSis is a redhead and has freckles just like yours. I don’t think anyone gives it a second thought. I certainly don’t. I would notice far more if she had interesting tattoos on her arms or something and loads of people have those. My own arms get much more freckly during the Summer and I’m certain no one pays the slightest attention to it!

Applepe · 14/08/2026 16:56

People have freckles tattooed ON these days. It’s your skin, your freckles are unique to you, no one else has the same freckles. I too have pale skin with freckles, I just embrace them.

LarkspurBlues · 14/08/2026 16:57

I think they’re very beautiful- I wish we could
swap!

concertinacornflake · 14/08/2026 16:57

They're lovely freckles.

sweetchill · 14/08/2026 17:01

They are lovely! I’d probably look at you only to think ‘she’s beautiful’.

AgentKim · 14/08/2026 17:01

Im a ginger freckles person and Im so used to them. Its not like its some skin disease.

GreenLeaf25 · 14/08/2026 17:07

As a person who is dark / olive skin I think k your skin is just beautiful. Everyone admires what they don’t have. I’m naturally curly haired and I wanted straight - so I’ve pretty much burnt my hair. Now I want my curls back!

NemesisRabbits · 14/08/2026 17:10

I think they’re beautiful, that would be my only thought if I saw you.
Like a PP, I have olive skin, as a kid I wished I had pale skin & freckles.

museumum · 14/08/2026 17:14

If you have read hair I wouldn’t even notice the freckles, it’s just what readheaded peoples skin looks like.

PetulaClark · 14/08/2026 17:14

I genuinely think they’re lovely ♥️

RosieCockle · 14/08/2026 17:24

omg, there is literally nothing wrong with that arm. I’d never notice it. I’m quite freckly armed myself. Never thought to question it. Everyone is more bothered about their own perceived “flaws” to notice some freckles.

SavBlancinRecovery · 14/08/2026 18:14

No way get your freckles removed. They are part of you and totally normal for Celtic colouring.
imagine if your best friend suggested something so drastic - would you suggest she removes them? Probably not.
be the best friend to yourself 🫶🏻

magicbeany · 14/08/2026 18:35

I have the same colouring. The freckles on my arms are smaller and they’ve kind of blended now. I don’t see them and I wouldn’t notice them on anyone else. I had some of the larger ones on my face when I was younger and I considered laser. I went to the consultation but could not afford the treatment. Also on the bus home from that, I saw two people with severe facial disfigurements which made me have a good dose of perspective. Face freckles went away on their own around the time I was 27 anyway. Don’t miss them! Can’t believe people tattoo them on these days. I really wouldn’t go through the expense and pain of a large area like arms. They’d probably just come back eventually. I would pop a tanning drop or two in body oil to blend them in a little if you feel better.

Dotheygohigherthanfactor50 · 14/08/2026 19:54

Thank you for all your kind responses. Some have brought a tear to my eye. It's hard to undo 30+ years of wishing I "looked like the other girls" but its probably sensible to not pay a lot of money to undergo painful laser treatment, just for them to come back after a couple of summers.

Embrace them.

PoweredBySheerSpite · 14/08/2026 20:18

I think they’re stunningly beautiful, and I think it would be a horrible shame to get rid of them.

Edited to say - my mum has this complexion. Freckled from head to toe. I’m mixed race and until
i was about 10 thought this is what all white Irish women looked like.

I have freckles, too. Everyone says they are my best feature.

YouSawBrigadoon · 14/08/2026 20:25

2 of my 3 sisters are covered in freckles like this. They both hate them but have never attempted to remove them.

CortieTat · 14/08/2026 20:49

These are beautiful freckles!

If it’s any help, I have freckles and also now poikiloderma of Civatte (I am over 45) on my neck. I looked into lasering it off but the removal is very likely ineffective, the wretched thing tends to reappear despite using 50+ spf every day 365 days a year. So in your shoes I would be concerned that the removal is expensive and then the freckles are likely to come back anyway. Embrace them instead!

Hermanfromguesswho · 14/08/2026 20:50

I’ve got freckles exactly like yours. All over including loads on my face. I love them. Embrace them. It’s unusual and beautiful because of that, not ugly!
Get your nails done and enjoy them. It’ll be such a great role model for your kids to see you happy in your skin as they grow up when they also have freckles 🙂

Dontevenlookatme · 14/08/2026 21:11

I had freckles like yours OP and I felt the same about them. When you’re young the whiteness behind them makes them stand out. After a few more summers they start to blend together and the white doesn’t show through in the same way. Your skin is special and unique, you’ve been tattooed by Nature!

Yolo12345 · 14/08/2026 22:05

They are stunning!

TammiesBackHurts · 14/08/2026 22:06

Your freckles are gorgeous, you remind me of a leopard ❤️

behm · 14/08/2026 22:14

Oh man what beautiful freckles! I think they're so cute and distinctive. My Dad and sister have loads of freckles but I inherited my mum's olive skin. One of my colleagues has red hair and skin like yours and I always admire it, honestly keep them because it's super attractive.
