Would you consider laser treatment for larger freckles or try to embrace them?

If these freckles belonged to you, would they bother you? I've had freckles all of my life, and always hated them. Typical pale ginger freckle appreance. School wasn't an easy ride but I managed through. After a recent hot holiday aboard and no escape from the sun my freckles have gotten larger and darker. I'd like to get them lasered, but its not cheap, it flipping hurts and it will take a lot of time and care to scale them back. Just to note that i could afford it if I saved a little every month.

If you saw me out and about would you think "gosh what large freckles they are, very odd looking"? And if you had these freckles, would you laser them off?

I'm not sure if im tried of being ashamed of them and want to embrace them or just want them gone and have less freckly arms.

Kind advice is greatly appreciated.

I’m from a freckle family so I’ve grown to like freckles; my mother used to say that they were kisses from the sun. So no, I wouldn’t have a laser procedure. They are uniquely you. Did you know that some cats have freckles, and they tend to be ginger? 😻 they’re all lovely.

I think I’d probably try and accept them. Would laser entirely remove them? It seems like a huge commitment.

I would clock them in passing but wouldn't think they were unusual at all if you are a pale ginger freckly gal. That's just your skin!

Would you really want to put yourself through the pain and expense of zapping them (and the ongoing care in the sun for years to come?) just for the sake of the freckles?

I have facial birthmarks that I've loved/loathed over the years but now I'm comfortable in my skin and to hell with what anyone else thinks

I’m sure there are much more fun and pain free things you could spend money on. Holidays, theatre trips, books, restaurants, shoes - whatever floats your boat.

I don't think I would go for laser treatment because I, like you, have fair skin. We are both at risk for skin cancer and a freckle darkening or changing shape could be an early sign.

So I would embrace them.

They wouldnt bother me at all. Id sooner spend my money on getting my weight loss skin removed.

Oh i could certainly think of plenty of other fun things I would spend the money on. I just loathe the feeling that im being looked at or that I don't have the delicate sprinkling of freckles that I see so many other people with.

I also have kids with freckles and I adore it on them but not sure why I can't love mine.

Ive always refrained from wearing rings or getting my nails done as I feel it draws attention to them even more.

Your freckles are beautiful. Part of what makes us unique. DS is really freckly and I have many too. Embrace them and spend the money on rings and nails to show them off!

I expect on your arms would be a very expensive exercise. I've been getting laser treatment for freckles on my face. Yes, it hurts (take panadol before the appointment). There are two types (or maybe frequencies). One that just fades all the freckles. And a spot treatment that essentially makes the pigment flake off after a week. It does come up very dark and obvious after the treatment, so I've hid away from the world for at least 5 days the two times I've had the spot treatment. I've had this combined with laser treatment for rosacea. I genuinely think I look the best I ever have (and I'm 50!).

So, if it's something that you genuinely dislike about yourself, it is worthwhile. Just be aware that it will cost a lot. It will take several treatments and likely require ongoing maintenance. Plus, wear sunscreen every single day!. On your arms for the spot treatment you can just wait until winter and hide them under long sleeves. I think it's worthwhile finding somewhere with good reviews and having a consultation to get pricing and an estimate of number of treatments.

I have freckles. I used to hate them as a kid but barely noticed them now. They are part of me.

I wouldn't even notice them on you. No one cares. I really wouldn't waste my money if I were you.

I have freckles like yours and it never occurred to me that people even notice them negatively. The only comments I've had are a few saying that they people wished they had them.
The biggest issue with removing them is that they'll likely come back as your skin is prone to freckles and you'll likely damage your skin in the process.

I wouldn’t have any thoughts about your freckles if I saw you out and about. I’ve had a few redhead friends over the years and your type of skin is a reasonably common sight in the UK. I vote leave them just as they are, but it’s your skin and your money. Only you can decide.

Gosh it's never occured to me in my 58 years to get rid of my freckles! They are me and my pale scottish heritage. Sometimes I put a bit of fake tan on if I'm feeling partiularly luminous. Embrace them!

I wouldn't - they look fine, they're just different. I'm freckly too.

If you did lighten them significantly, you would possibly have a noticeable demarcation line between the areas you have treated and where you stopped... depending on how far up your arms/your body the freckles go.

I have freckles and no I wouldn’t get them removed. I wouldn’t even think that is possible over such large areas of skin. Also surely you’ll just get more.

No-ones looking at you because you have freckles, it's not like you've grown an extra head or something

One of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen in my life was absolutely covered in freckles (from what I could see). Random woman in a shop - I don’t know why she seemed so arresting, but she did. Her freckles were definitely not a flaw - just something intrinsic to her.

I honestly think you’d be mad to undertake expensive, time consuming ‘treatment’ for something that does not need treating.

I think your freckles are beautiful and I miss the ones I had on my face that have faded now I’m older!

I’d lean into it completely! Embrace the freckles, the red hair and the curls (assuming curls!) It goes together as a beautiful package and looks all the better when you embrace it. It only looks off when you try to hide from who you are.
