Mother of the Groom dress dilema

I was on here previously asking about a dress. I need a dress for next June and want to get it now, firstly so there is less chance of anyone else having it and also to spread costs. Is it mother of the groom though? I don't want a stuffy dress but I do want to look as if I have made an effort.

Who said elegant was a dress code? Elegant is not that dress. I am also allowed an opinion. For what it's worth the snootyfrox dresses are mostly elegant. Not like the red dress.

Honestly you can wear a long dress to your sons wedding, i don't know where some people's ideas come from, im sure if you had posted a "traditional " MOG dress then posters would have said it was frumpy or old fashioned.

Sorry, I don't mean to derail the thread, but that Stacees website is quite funny because a lot of the models used for the MOB dresses don't look the right age to have a child who could actually be getting married. But I guess they want to use young models to sell the dresses...

As a potential mother of the groom myself I wouldn’t wear it. It’s nice enough but it would go on my no pile. It’s very fussy, too long and not right for the occasion, for me personally. I think something more chic and unfussy would be better.

I was a MOG this year and bought a bridesmaid dress in the same colour as my son's suit (which was an actual colour!). Bridesmaids weren't traditional bridesmaids and weren't in colours so it worked with the style of the wedding. I sent a picture to bride and groom for approval first. I think the solid colour dress just looked so much better for MOG and I don't think the style screamed bridesmaid. It was just a lovely chiffon dress, with an asymmetric hem.

I am not sure of your age, but I am young and a size 10, so traditional MOG dress would be too 'old' for me.
