Mother of the Groom dress dilema

I was on here previously asking about a dress. I need a dress for next June and want to get it now, firstly so there is less chance of anyone else having it and also to spread costs. Is it mother of the groom though? I don't want a stuffy dress but I do want to look as if I have made an effort.

Out of all of them I like the Jolie Moi one op.
I'm not sure about doing floral like others have said, it depends on the style or type of wedding.
Perhaps floral but less of a busy print?

I'd probably get the Jolie Moi one anyway at that price it's lovely and versatile.

Thats a big ageist. I can gaurantee my very small bosom and bit bigger tummer were not squahed in ..my dresses weren't those but buy to size and you will be comfortable all day

I agree. There are loads of dresses on that site that look really stunning. Personally I would go for one of the others which is a bit less bright, but that is down to the individual and knowing what works for you.

The original dress you posted is absolutely fine IMO. You need to look like you made an effort, the end, and you want it to be something you feel confident in which is best achieved by not asking the internet.

I cannot get on board with all the made up rules. Pick something and stop asking for opinions from people who don't know you, who won't be in the room and won't see the pictures. What you think is truly what matters here. When is the last time you heard a bride say the MOG's dress was too bright or too flouncy? I'm afraid I don't even remember what my mum wore to my wedding let alone my brother's.

Have you looked at Katya Wildman dresses? I posted on here about one of her dresses that I am going to wear to a wedding next week. It was a resounding yes from most posters.

Personally, and I apologise for this, I do not like the style you are going for. They all look very similar in style and just (to me) seem old fashioned and frumpy.

This is the dress I bought and she does it in block colours too if you feel that a white background and red flowers is not appropriate.

It is definitely not a MOG dress. Maybe google to see what people wear as MOG. It is not very elegant and I would want to look elegant if I were MOG.

It's made me a bit sad to hear some posters state that maxis are deeply unfashionable and shouldn't be worn to weddings. They are all that I can wear due to having shocking varicose veins! We can't all wear fashionable lengths (and I actually had no idea that was even a thing - thought it was just personal choice). And if my sons (currently teenagers) ever get married I doubt they will be at all bothered by what I wear or what colour it is.

Also, I think maxis can look really elegant and for the record I liked the first dress (though I know it has gone back now!).

Lovely dresses but just not for me. They wouldn't suit my shape. I am very much an hourglass figure and that length doesn't do anything for me. I don't like my legs which was why I would have gone for a maxi but I'm not against a midi. The first dress I bought, the Jolie Moi suits me the best so I might try and find something similar in a block colour. I don't personally think the clothes I was looking at are old fashioned.

A Mother of the Groom dress is a dress worn by a woman who is the mother of the groom. It's not a dress code the same as black tie, white tie, dress uniform.

Couldn't agree more. This gives me the fear. I might be 60 but I don't want to turn up in a shift dress and jacket with my pearls just yet.
