I bought a gorgeous winter coat yesterday. You get the best range in August

I’ve bought a 1950s wiggle skirt, midi length, concealed back pleat for movement. Will wear with cowboy boots. Can’t wait.

Sounds fabulous.

For those who’ve started already, what colours are we looking at being everywhere this year? Is it another year with brown as the base, not grey or black?

Im sick of brown

Im sick of brown

I prefer it to black and navy, it feels a little softer

I'll be very happy if brown is still around and, after decades of domination by black or grey, I'm not even sorry.

Placestogo · 02/08/2026 14:48

Im eyeing up the Eugenie wool blend blazer from Baukjen but it is expensive at £269….
i need a new coat, preferably with a hood, but i dont want something too bulky as i am never too cold.
Im looking at Sweaty Betty Motion waterproof cropped parka in brown mini check… but i have a feeling it is not lined… if it was lined, id probably buy it…

I love that brown and burgundy are the colours of the season now. I feel they’re a lot classier

It’s not my favourite either - my complexion just can’t take overly warm or dark browns. Khaki and olive greens and burgundy are my go to autumn colours.

Sorry I’m another who prefers it to the staple we’ve had for years of grey and/or black as the winter neutral.

Yeah, it’s obvious the quality is very poor and it’s 100% polyester! Oh I hadn’t thought of Vinted. Plumo have a couple of lovely ones but I’d rather not spend £300 if I can’t help it.

I bought this and while it is polyester it isn't at all thin and wrinkly, it's really heavy, hangs well and looks great on. I bought it as a test to see if i liked the style enough to splash out on the 100% wool Cos version.

I’ve bought a very similar fabric to this, 100% cotton Irish linen, and I’m hopeful it’ll make a lovely skirt!

Indigo barrel jeans, grey merino sweater and a cropped navy jacket on their way to me courtesy of Vinted. All BNWT. Pondered a gorgeous apricot colour silk shirt from Boden but it's a size too big. Was gorgeous though so will keep an eye on listing as in case one comes up in my size.

No joy with silver trainers yet.

https://www.cos.com/en-gb/women/womenswear/trousers/wideleg/product/regular-wool-blend-wide-leg-trousers-brown-mlange-1248656004 I must have tried eleventy-three pairs of winter trousers over the past 12 months and have finally found a pair I like. They were in the sale though i think the composition is slightly different.

Then I also found these in Tu. https://tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/product/tuc147883493

I’m longing for the cooler weather - it’s still too hot here. I find I can’t think of warm clothing in the heat.

BangingOn · 02/08/2026 19:50

Autumn is my favourite season to shop for and I am never not looking for autumn clothes.

I have ordered this cardigan from AllSaints
https://www.allsaints.com/women/knitwear/bern-wool-blend-argyle-cardigan/W007KF-5.html

This skirt which is lovely for summer too
https://www.cos.com/en-gb/women/womenswear/skirts/maxiskirts/product/panelled-a-line-maxi-skirt-steel-blue-1349182001

A cape back jumper from Dissh
https://dissh.com/products/daphne-black-knit-cape-top

and I’m eyeing up this Cos skirt, although this length makes me look like Miss Trunchball with flat shoes but I can see it working with long black boots

Colours are burgundy, dark beige/ brown black trousers or dark side leg jeans.
Green, black chocolate brown cords.Soft grey jumpers for later nearer Christmas.
Hopefully will get a woolen winter coat.

TheChosenTwo · 04/08/2026 21:16

i’m not even thinking about autumn, I’ve gotten carried away with ordering summery things and am continuing to do so!
I’ll think about autumn when I’m cold - I do have clothes that will do. I’ve lost weight since last autumn but I was still wearing layers in like May and I’ve stayed basically the same weight since then so I’m sure I’ll be okay for a long while yet. Unless we get a sudden very cold snap!

user593 · 04/08/2026 21:32

I bought a blouse from Zara which I think will see a lot of wear when it gets a bit cooler (https://www.zara.com/gb/en/zw-collection-wrap-shirt-with-frog-fastening-p07627200.html).

I also bought a Celtic & Co cardigan in Navy and Oatmeal (https://www.celticandco.com/products/fine-knit-merino-cardigan?variant=46950888308892).

Yes I have as Autumn's my favourite season to shop for. Plus as a soft autumn there are loads of my colours around.
A raspberry cashmere cardigan and short sleeved jumper on the J Lewis sales rail.
A brown woven bag plus a suede hobo bag from Tk Maxx.
A dark green Nicole Farhi wool coat with fringing from Tk Maxx.

I need quite a few new things for this winter. None of the below is very exciting tbh 🤣

I got a lot of wear out of these last year but need to re buy in a smaller size - https://www.marksandspencer.com/magic-shaping-high-waisted-slim-flare-jeans/p/clp60627217

I still like a skinny/slim jeans with boots (more practical), so eyeing up this jumper - https://www.marksandspencer.com/wool-rich-crew-neck-jumper/p/clp23049558

I also need to buy new skinny/slim jeans and wide leg jeans.

I’d like to buy a few wool jumpers and cardis, probably navy, brown, beige, grey. I’m really trying to stop buying synthetic knitwear where possible. So random but I’d like a slightly longer length wrap cardigan too, although probably something I’d buy from Vinted. I also wanted the Eddy cardigan from Sezane but it seems to have disappeared from the website so I’ll need to scour Vinted!

Need to buy some thicker trousers (wide leg) for work.

These will be handy, more practical than suede Spezials! - https://www.next.co.uk/style/su976614/v35495

Boring but this fleece will be good with leggings and trainers for autumn here - https://www.regatta.com/womens-roswind-water-resistant-full-zip-fleece-black

Debating this, but not sure if I really need it or just want it because it’s half price! https://www.lululemon.co.uk/en-gb/p/waterproof-600-down-fill-parka/prod11801216.html

Could do with a couple of new belts and maybe a new bag too.

Not yet but I had a look in H&M yesterday , they have loads of short sleeved thin knit jumpers in which are nice .
I don't wear wool by choice so I'm looking for thin cotton or acrylic .

I don't think I need anything this year .
I don't know what will be in the shops yet . Hopefully not wide legged trousers .

Have you looked at hemp or linen jersey? Poetry (online) have some really nice stuff.

SocksAndTheCity · Yesterday 22:11

I'm glad other people.are doing it too! I have bought three skirts at 60% off in the All Saints sale, three cashmere sweaters in black, camel and charcoal when John Lewis had them at £49 a couple of weeks ago and a dress from Monsoon, which I don't normally look in but this one is lovely.

I also did a bit restock of all my workhorse/everyday stuff when SpaceNK had 20% off everything last week, and the jackpot was a Victoria Beckham cashmere ballet wrap in Oxfam which I still can't quite believe I found.

So this autumn I will mostly be in nice soft jumpers and raggedy looking tutus in various lengths 😁
