Just that really? What have you done that has really worked or that you can't go without? A product or habit or anything that you think has really helped you to look better. I am just in a bit of a rut and want some inspiration! Thanks!

My contribution to this thread is Frownies (used for a few hours while sleeping) and Dior Nail Glow for an everyday manicure.

Can I ask if anyone has found a hair product to deal with dry, frizzy, coarse menopausal hair that isn’t full of silicones?

I think the very best thing for frizzy hair is a keratin/brazilian blowdry, I’ve never managed to find a product that would even come close.

Buying a fantastic hair oil. I have long hair, and when I hit menopause it started getting really frizzy and breaking off. I got really embarrassed about it and considered having to go for the chop. Tried tonnes of products unsuccessfully and wasted lots of money. Then I found a hair oil which has brought my hair back to life. Pop it on 10 mins before I wash it, then I add 2 drops to my conditioner. Bliss. I love my hair again.

What oil is it? I’d love to keep my long hair too

Seeing a dermatologist and sticking to it religiously. Getting Invisalign. Remaining slim. Getting my colours done 15 years ago (and never looking back). Sorting my hair out. Eyebrow threading. Facials which actually have an impact. Reformer pilates several times a week.

But mostly: getting a job and career that allows me the disposable income to do all these things!

RobertaFirmino · 24/07/2026 22:54

I know posture has already been mentioned but learning to stand correctly is one of the best favours anyone can do themselves.

Give it a try. Stand as you normally would and have a look at your side profile. Then, you want feet slightly apart, pelvis tucked in, shoulders slightly back and chin at a right angle to your neck. Have another look in the mirror. I bet it looks so much better.

Brightvoyager · 24/07/2026 22:57

A couple of people have suggested hair extensions. Can you tell me more please, I would worry that extensions could make thinning hair worse. I have fine blonde hair.

Vita Liberata Body Blur. As a pale skinned dark haired person I hated baring flesh but this magic stuff makes it all ok for me 🤣

While we’re on the subject, I am contemplating buying the Shark hairdryer. I have an ancient Dyson one, but it makes my hair too frizzy. Does anyone have any thoughts?

GameOfJones · 25/07/2026 06:47

Nosdacariad · 24/07/2026 18:18

Would you share the UPFs you now avoid that you ate previously, if you feel like sharing?

I'm not the PP you asked but I also cut out UPFs (not completely as I think that's impossible if you ever want to eat outside your home again)..but I aim to be 80% UPF free.

I try not to eat food with weird ingredients in it that I couldn't find in my own kitchen. I won't buy bread or chocolate with emulsifiers in it for example. That's been the simplest rule when looking at labels.

I started by swapping our most regularly eaten foods a couple of years ago. Things like wraps I swapped to Crosta and Mollica as they're just flour, olive oil, water and salt. Breakfast cereals for porridge oats, flavoured yoghurt for plain yoghurt with fruit, ham or bacon to serrano that's just pork and salt.

I now do an 80% of my food UPF free and whole food. If you're buying ingredients and cooking from scratch it's actually really easy. If you buy a lot of ready meals or very processed food it's harder. I was terrible for buying ready meals when I thought I didn't have time to cook but actually.... making some scrambled eggs and avocado on toast takes less time than microwaving a TV dinner and is better for me.

I feel so much better for it and over time have craved junk less and less. I used to eat four biscuits every day for my breakfast so it's been transformational for me really!

Knowing my size in particular brands I like and buying brand new stuff off EBay, knowing it will fit and suit me. I’ve saved MANY £s on otherwise expensive clothing

HRTQueen · 25/07/2026 07:32

Mounjaro the weight loss has made such a difference

going back to using vitamin e oil rather than trying lots of different creams, it’s absorbed by the skin

Tan Luxe spray just gives a very slight glow

Revlon hair brush hairdryer years I have straightened my hair used serums but drying my hair with this i no longer need to

minnowonthesay · 25/07/2026 08:29

@Francestein I find the Dyson makes my hair frizzy too, and the MD London hairdryer, so I’ve just repurchased my Diva Professional dryer that is 10 years old (from Sallys) and I always go back to, it’s got a great new cone shaped curl nozzle too, other than that it hasn’t changed at all - they obviously got it right first time! https://amzn.eu/d/0bFGrziJ

I've worked out my colours but where might I go to work out my style type? I know exactly what my style type is when I see it, but I have no idea how to define it!

Sorry that was meant to respond the person you were quoting. Confused

Edited

Pinterest is a good starting point to show the different style types: classic/ gamine/ natural/ dramatic/ romantic etc. See what you are drawn to, there are lots of quizzes that take your dimensions to work our what would work best on your body, height/ curviness etc.

Google Kibbe to try to work out your body type for a more in depth analysis.

Well I am inspired by:
Weight
Exercise in whatever form
Good eating
Good hydration
Great to be motivated by you all.

My tips are
St Tropez cream tan in your moisturiser every three days or so if you are pale. Gives a lovely glow.
Keratin straightening twice a year.
Airstraight Dyson if you have hard to manage hair - expensive but so worth it. Halved my drying time and halved the effort.
Wear what you want and don't give a fig what anyone else thinks. Dress for the day, feel good about yourself and avoid all mirrors til you get back home.

Nothing feels better than fresh washed hair and skin, no matter what the brand you use.

Walk tall people. If you are confident then it shows on the outside of you

A recent colour analysis and wardrobe assessment. I now understand why some things just don’t work for me.

Who did you do this with? I had my colour analysis done a few years ago. I recently had my style done and it was really helpful - they did body proportions.

I've found it more restrictive as to what to wear, I feel less creative. But I'm hoping the more I follow the shapes that suit me the easier it will be. I'm a bit worried I'm going to end up looking boring though! At the moment I'm trying to refresh my wardrobe.

I was thinking of focusing on building head to toe outfits focusing on one colour group.

This is good advice.

Yoga is really good to stretch out the bits that get contracted through bad posture/sitting at a desk like your hips, thighs and abdominal muscles. It also makes you more aware of your posture.
