Just that really? What have you done that has really worked or that you can't go without? A product or habit or anything that you think has really helped you to look better. I am just in a bit of a rut and want some inspiration! Thanks!

I agree with time and money. Living a relaxed, stress free life with lots of time for self care has huge benefits for me.

I've worked out my colours but where might I go to work out my style type? I know exactly what my style type is when I see it, but I have no idea how to define it!

Sorry that was meant to respond the person you were quoting. Confused

GingerLeopard · 24/07/2026 11:44

Botox and retinol.

EmailsaysOOO · 24/07/2026 11:46

@pregnantaura ah got it ! Thanks for this.

lollibit · 24/07/2026 11:51

Losing weight.
Trying some more modern shapes eg wide legs instead of skinnies
Buying more expensive clothes
Considering colour in outfits eg image
Buying to add to the above colour

Going to the gym and losing weight, my confidence has increased massively and I feel so comfortable in my skin. I now wear the clothes I used to save for a nice day.

Tretinoin- amazing for skin! I’m 40+ and get a lot of compliments. And spf 50 daily.

Bondi Sanda express tan once a week.

few tape hair extensions to thicken up my fine hair.

Additup · 24/07/2026 12:04

@gleba My hair is thick and coarse and I use AsIAm cowash and hair mask. It's really good and enriching and contains no silicone.

I also comb coconut ool through my hair every couple of weeks and leave it on for a few hours. I then wash it off using MooGoo shampoo.

I eat exactly what I want and stop when I'm full.
I've lost 6 stone plus. I gave up drinking first.
I spent twenty years punishing myself after a lifetime of criticism. I looked in the mirror one day and said it's time to look like you again.
I generally don't eat meat, pudding or bread because I don't like it and it doesn't like me. Cheese I only eat occasionally as it went with the wine.

I can now replace all my very expensive plus sized clothes through eBay. Lots of ladies have slimmed down and there are great natural fibre bargains. I never buy polyester. I wear cashmere in the house and buy good ponte trousers instead of trackies.

I only wear what I truly like and I dress up as soon as I step out of the door. I'm semi retired and spent a lifetime in corporate clothes.

I worked in SLT of beauty companies so I have a virtually wrinkle free skin. I still get freebies so that keeps me going.

Which skin treatments/products do you recommend?

Calendulaaria · 24/07/2026 12:28

Gave up alcohol completely 10 years ago in my late 30s.

Doing my make up every day, even if I'm working from home. Nothing too heavy, just a light covering of foundation, mascara and eyebrows.

Aveda products for my curly and dry hair - it's made such a difference.
Deciding to let my hair go grey without dyeing it. I still haven't decided if I will let it go completely grey, but for now I'm enjoying the grey streaks through it. Not sure why.

@clickyteeclick if you look back at the time stamps, my post was 02:44.

LondonLass2026 · 24/07/2026 13:42

Eyelash curlers. They are amazing! I've got horrible flat, short lashes, and curlers have just propelled them skyward! I've given up mascara.

MorroccanOil. Not before I dry my hair as I'm scared I'll frazzled it, but it is hair-changing once my hair is dry.

Blusher. Any brand, doesn't matter. A bright pink pop of colour and I don't need much else make up. I am olive skinned, black hair so you would just need to find your shade. Full Fuchsia by MAC is what I use at the moment.

Laneige lip mask. Thought it would be a gimmick but I tried it when I had a discount code and find I hardly need lip balm the next day.

Patchology Eye Want Candy under eye masks. Gorgeous.

And losing weight. Everything looks better. Make up sits better on my face when it isn't puffy, and my hair (long bob) also suits me much more now my face has some definition!

I get fake eyelashes every 6 weeks or so. It is my one bit of luxury (go ages without a haircut etc)

They are not ridiculous looking ones, but many people have commented on how they bring out the colour in my eyes well.

I also love the silence and lying down involved (1.5 hours)

HeatwaveHotel · 24/07/2026 14:16

All the boring, worthy stuff!

Always wear sunscreen.
Ditched booze.
Drinks loads of water.
Exercise.

I’m nearly 50 and the purely style and cosmetic stuff is no longer enough.

I’d add getting a good nights sleep, although perimenopause has fucked with my sleep so much this year I’m not getting the benefits if that currently.

anonymous0810 · 24/07/2026 14:16

Mounjaro
semi permanent eyebrows and eyeliner.

GreenCaterpillarOnALeaf · 24/07/2026 14:28

Teeth whitened. Smoked for years (12-20, mingling I know) and then got pregnant and quit. After I had my daughter I decided to treat myself to some pearly whites, you know, since I pushed someone out of me. I’ve never gotten so many compliments in my life. It’s one of those things that people can’t work out what you’ve done, but they do notice.

Also, look into a chemical peel. Find the right one for you though, there’s a lot of options.

Proper curly hair care was a game changer as well but that was trial and error. I don’t actually use super expensive products, but now I’ve got my routine down I’m very happy with the results. I got a silk bonnet as well to sleep in and it’s really really reduced frizz. DH and my kids make fun of me because I do objectively look a bit silly but oh well, frizzy haired haters gonna hate.

GreenCaterpillarOnALeaf · 24/07/2026 14:31

Oo also lip blush. I’ve got quite big lips and they’re a nice shape but they’re pale as a corpse. Got a lip blush as a present for myself and never looked back. Looks mad straight after though - DS told me I looked like a clown, but once it died down he said it looks nice but he had a good laugh at his mums expense at first.

An abdominoplasty

NewHere83 · 24/07/2026 15:51

After baby and breastfeeding, a really good bra. I thought my old figure was gone forever, it's amazing what restoring my old boob shape did for my proportions and overall figure.

bananaboats · 24/07/2026 15:58

Sleeping in a silk bonnet cant belive the difference its made to my hair! Doing a hair mask once a week and wash & blow dry twice a week & now do very little in between. Always struggled with my hair and its never looked better.
Korean lash lift, again cant belive the difference & lasts me a good couple of months at least.

madaboutpurple · 24/07/2026 16:24

The organisation Colour Me beautiful do lots of books on image/colours and styles and they are listed on eBay. Chata Romano has done books and they are so worthwhile. I keep in touch with her and she gets amazed as she was the first person I ever contacted in Y2000.When it was my brother's wedding she recommended I got a sparkly red top and a dark red skirt. Well we have a big Asian area and a lady in a material shop made an outfit for me and I got loads of compliments.

Exercise. Clothes fit better, I walk better and am more confident.

Putting thought into what to wear and not being afraid to wear what suits me rather than following fashion, at five foot and with proportionally short legs, the current loose wide leg trend looks ridiculous on me and visually shortens my legs further.

Avoiding ultra processed food.

Would you share the UPFs you now avoid that you ate previously, if you feel like sharing?

Microneedling my face at home. I've only done it 3 times so far (with 4 weeks between sessions) but my lines have softened loads. I'm 39 soon.

I bought a micro needler but am a bit worried about using it. Please can you enlighten me? I'd love it to whisk away my marionette lines! Thank you.

Buying a fantastic hair oil. I have long hair, and when I hit menopause it started getting really frizzy and breaking off. I got really embarrassed about it and considered having to go for the chop. Tried tonnes of products unsuccessfully and wasted lots of money. Then I found a hair oil which has brought my hair back to life. Pop it on 10 mins before I wash it, then I add 2 drops to my conditioner. Bliss. I love my hair again.

May I ask which oil, please - it sounds fantastic!
