Just that really? What have you done that has really worked or that you can't go without? A product or habit or anything that you think has really helped you to look better. I am just in a bit of a rut and want some inspiration! Thanks!

Losing 6 stone on mounjaro.
Being teetotal for the last 10 years. Alcohol wrecks the skin.
Going to the gym and doing strength training.
Not eating junk. I never eat processed food or takeaways.
Getting a really good nights sleep. This is a hard one as Ive never slept well.
Drinking plenty of water.
Making myself go out for long walks after work. I dont want to but when I do it feels great.
Moisturising everyday especially my feet. My skin got much drier when I got 60.
I want to really enjoy my retirement in three years not be sick for half of it.
Good dental care.
Im also going for a facelift at the end of the year.

GreggsistentialCrisis · 25/07/2026 12:49

Stopping the fake tan and then realising looking at photos it never looked natural.

Flaxseed!! I take some every day in Greek yoghurt and I swear even my cellulite is looking better.

I use a wardrobe tracking app (Indyx, but there are many others) and its helped me plan outfits, see what I dint wear and get inspiration from other users I follow.

Exercising - Strength training (3 x week) & Cardio (2 x week)
Upping protein (100-120g a day)
Calorie counting & Intermittent fasting
Nip & Fab Peptide oil
Ironing - why wouldn't you want your clothes to look smart?

However I will not give up my weekly wine/prosecco! 🫣

Someone mentioned a Korean Lash lift - is it better than the usual lash lift with I find can be bit and miss, a few times I’ve had it done and have hardly noticed any difference.

I love this thread but don’t really have anything to add that hasn’t already been said unfortunately!

Some fabulous tips to try - keep them coming ladies!

newmenewwhatever · 25/07/2026 15:30

regular facials
drinking water
walking daily
not saving best for best
regular haircuts
no patterns in my wardrobe

seaskysand · 25/07/2026 18:47

yes would love to hear if a Korean lash lift is better than the LVL ones too!

@Ceramiq what was it that stopped your husband from snoring?

Weekly face mask /coconut oil and bicarbonate of soda
my skin feels like porcelain !

Getting a regular hair trim - nothing fancy, no colour, just keeping it tidy.

Buying fewer, better quality, and more classic clothes.

Starting a skincare routine to deal with my rosacea and combination skin.

Growing my eyebrows back and tinting them regularly at home. (This and the above makes me feel confident without makeup, and helps me look tidy more generally!)

A recent colour analysis and wardrobe assessment. I now understand why some things just don’t work for me.

This, I had one done a long time ago and to this date… everything I buy suits me and use all the time. It makes shopping much easier and reduces waste and unnecessary expenses.

stayathomegardener · 25/07/2026 21:24

@Atleastitsnotsunstrokeher name is Emma Taylor from House of Colour. Based in Bury I think but she came over to Cheshire so clearly travels.

Finding attractive nice walking sandals that look pretty and not frumpy. Game-changer for my summer outfits which always looked crap compared with my autumn/winter ones. I wear FitFlops thin strappy sandals now in sparkly colours, so comfy. Hiking ones look great on fit exercise-oriented people, but not on me.

Corvidsarethebest · 25/07/2026 22:22

I am also short, which is why chunky sandals never worked; they wore me. Need a bit more elegance in my footwear.

Otherwise, light fake tan, Invisalign, fresher make-up (especially brown mascara, as am pale). Smile lots. Nothing particularly invasive.

Campingintherain2024 · 25/07/2026 23:28

I love this thread, loads of inspiration.

For me it would be tretinion, azelaic acid and daily SPF. Oh and wearing big floppy hats. The rest of my skincare routine is about adding moisture and trying to lock it in. My skin is incredibly dry. I would consider microneedling in the future but my skin is looking good.

I bought some expensive makeup and honestly the difference is huge. The colours are perfect on me and everything goes on so much easier.

I got colour analysis done. And found a style that suits my body type.

PS5Gamer · 26/07/2026 00:30

Mounjaro - it has been life changing for me.
Vinted - both selling/buying
Water - 2 - 3 litres a day
Alcohol - I hardly drink anymore
Colour - I’m no longer head to toe in black
Hair - Embraced my curls. After years of fighting my curly hair, I gave up the straighteners/Keratin blow drys etc.

Gateappreciation · 26/07/2026 05:33

Recognising and accepting your own personality style-wise, and embracing it. Saw a fabulous lady on the train - animal patterned dress, brown short sleeve blazer, gorgeous bling sandals . The outfit worked, and she looked great, but would I wear it, no. Not for me.

So if you enjoy the retro then go for it, or a tailored look, or a boho look etc. Recognising this has made me a lot more content in what I wear.

Aitchtee · 26/07/2026 06:26

For me it’s been losing weight, life changing really.

I like the tip about better quality clothing. I’ve been buying fairly cheaply as I’ve come down the sizes during my weight loss era! Probably time to stop that and focus on some good quality pieces.

Quite a few of us mentioned fake tan @Moveoverdarlin !

I agree with you. I always thought it was such a faff, but got progressively more interested when DD wore it. I feel a million times better wearing it.

I use Bare by Vogue clear mousse. It’s brilliant - I had used the normal mousse but I did hate waiting for it to develop, then showering. The clear mousse doesn’t need to be washed off; it’s not as deep a tan, so I find you need to use it a few times (like 2 - 3 separate times) to get a deep enough colour but it lasts great, especially if you use the Bare by Vogue gradual daily tan in addition.

Can I ask with the bare by vogue- is it easy to use? I exfoliate and use a mitt and I still get weird darker patches on knees and streaks just with gradual tan I use!

Buying a fantastic hair oil. I have long hair, and when I hit menopause it started getting really frizzy and breaking off. I got really embarrassed about it and considered having to go for the chop. Tried tonnes of products unsuccessfully and wasted lots of money. Then I found a hair oil which has brought my hair back to life. Pop it on 10 mins before I wash it, then I add 2 drops to my conditioner. Bliss. I love my hair again.

Hey which hair oil do you use?

Dogladycrazy · 26/07/2026 12:05

@CinderellaParker can I just ask - what sort of style winter / rain coat would you wear? I’ve ordered some bubble / barrel leg trousers from Sahara and Hush, and already wear wide leg jeans but am stuck for the right style of coat - short would would be best with that style of trousers but wouldn’t keep me dry on dog walks. Any advice welcome from anyone with suggestions please! 😍

I am very much not someone to take any kind of style advice from - despite my best efforts and intentions often my look could best be described 'got dressed in the dark' and living in the countryside I can get away with being very scruffy on my dog walks!

Coats are top of my list for this autumn. I'm thinking of something like a chore jacket for wearing with barrel legs, maybe in corduroy. For skirts and trousers/straight leg jeans, I have the idea of a tweed coat, maybe in navy herringbone, in a sort of car coat length. And I have to say, I do love a poncho and don't whether or not they're fashionable!

Try Body Glow by Gatineau.

Yes it’s excellent, I don’t use the gradual tanner, I use their blurring body bronzer. It’s like a foundation for your skin, in the light medium leaves a lovely soft natural looking tan, which doesn’t come off on clothes or the sheets, so is on till you shower it off. It sort of blurs any imperfections, like your skin is in soft focus.

i also have the medium dark, where you need a tan for it and sometimes mix both colours together, if I want to go a bit darker. I wear sleeveless tops a lot and just apply this when I do so, I use my hands, no streaks just smooth tanned looking skin. And a tiny amount goes a long way. And as said, it doesn’t come off on my clothes or sheets, whuch are white, and stays on till I shower.

For fine lines and hyperpigmentation tretinoin over retinol.

£18 from Monderma, which is where I order mine. Renew+Me's is also good.
