Please help me style this MOB dress

This is my dress

I’ve really struggled to find something but I love this and feel great in it even though it’s not a traditional MOB type dress. I’m worried it’s not smart enough though - should I try to dress it up a bit? I’ve got nude sandals and a cream suede clutch and was planning minimal silver jewellery as I think anything else would clash with the pattern. Do I need something on my head? I’ve got short hair so won’t have a fancy up do just a nice blow dry. I really want to look my best for my daughter but still feel like me.

It's a pretty dress but quite casual. Is that the wedding vibe? Does your daughter think it's OK? I would be fine with my mum wearing it btw.

I don't think you can dress it up really. A statement necklace or maybe a pretty hair clip (not fascibanator) would ge nice with it

Can you tell us more about the wedding? Where will the ceremony be? The reception? What types of places are they? I ask because this seems a very casual dress but maybe that’s ok, depending on the wedding’s style.

My Dd is getting married next moment and it’sa pretty casual wedding (I am known for mega casual) but even I am dressing up a bit because it’s my child’s wedding. I love the dress you posted but it’s really not a wedding/event guest dress. Is a summer casual dress at best.

I’ve gone for this one with pink heels and my DH is wearing a pastel pink suit and navy shoes.

I like it, i think it won't look too casual.

I'd lean into the summery look and wear a summer hat. I love hats at weddings.

It’s quite a laid back wedding with a very relaxed feel - small country hotel not church or register office - so I think this is fine and my daughter is happy with it. I really wouldn’t spend £160 on a dress to wear to the beach! I expect some people will dress up more but this feels like me and is comfortable which we both agree is important - I rarely dress up so I’ll automatically look smarter than usual especially with heels instead of trainers and a nice bag. I just wondered if it needed something else but not really sure what that could be!

Also - it’s absolutely beautiful in real life, lined and made from lovely heavy cotton with nice details that don’t show from the photo. It feels lovely on and hangs well because it’s expensive (well for me it is) It really doesn’t feel like a casual dress. I first saw someone wearing it at Chelsea which makes it semi posh in my book 🤣

It’s absolutely gorgeous! I would wear it with gold sandals and simple gold/diamond (faux is fine!) earrings, just to give it a sense of occasion. Otherwise I think you will look great and I hope you have a lovely day.

I love this and think its perfect for MOB. If my mum had worn this to my wedding I would have loved that (she looked lovely in what she wore too!).

I think it could look suitably grand on the day if you avoid any ditsy or too delicate accessories. Not sure about silver jewellery - depends on the exact colour of the dress, and your skin and hair tones. Pearls might not be quite right. (I’d wear gold because it suits me best.)

And nude sandals might be a bit wishy washy! I might look for some dark red cage sandals to give a bit of oomph. Like these:

I think some lovely espadrille wedges, with a hat to match, some beautiful earrings and simple jewelry would be lovely.

I would say derinitely not espadrille wedges. Absolutely nothing ‘holiday-ish’. It’s a wedding, not a school fete.

Why would the OP need a jacket? That would make the whole look disappointingly dowdy.

Any reason you are wearing sandals with it and not heels/wedges or something smarter? Mobility issues?

Depending on your hair colour, a clip with silver in it might go with the other accessories.

Both of those hair clips posted are beautiful, I much prefer them to a fascinator or hat.

I wouldn’t get a jacket over the sleeves and it would be a shame to cover them I think.

The ankle strap kitten heels you've posted are lovely. When you said 'sandals' I had birkenstocks or chunky, fisherman type sandals in my mind.
