I am wondering about a knitted dress. I recall @ScottishMouse commenting on a knitted linen dress being nice but I now can’t find the post. @PrincessofWills I saw you had wondered about it too, did you try it? I can’t recall if it had sleeves and can’t seem to find it online. Can anyone tell me if it had sleeves and how it fared after wear.

ScallopShellWalk · 22/08/2026 10:17

@MsDastardley There are quite alot of low slung trousers on the market. I like this and they often hang nicer with the low crotch and feel nice. I did try a pair once that looked daft and were perhaps not voluminous enough to carry the low crotch but those pull on twill trousers I think can carry it. I tried these on in the shop and sadly were too long for me but I thought they were lovely. I’m sure someone on here recommended them.

ScottishMouse · 22/08/2026 10:40

@ScallopShellWalk the knitted linen dress I tried was in the summer sale, so not available online at the moment but it might pop up again in the end of summer sale. I think it had short sleeves, though I can’t swear to it. I really liked it but thought it would bag around the bum and knees so returned it in the end.

MsDastardley · 22/08/2026 10:44

@ScallopShellWalk thanks, I guess I am looking for reassurance that they are meant to be like that, not just a bad fit! They are really nice trousers and look good with lots of things in my wardrobe. Will give them another go. They are supposed to be cropped. I am 5’6” and they are full length on me. the model is 5’10” and they are barely cropped on her.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 22/08/2026 10:50

My reworn cotton hemp denim smock arrived today and I’m really pleased with it, doesn’t seem to have any faults, and is lovely and soft.
I also bought the Slate cotton cardigan which I'm in two minds about . It feels very rough in comparison and, although it would be useful, £195 for a cardigan seems a lot of £££.

@ScottishMouse thank you. I’ll keep a look out for the dress in the sales.

ScottishMouse · 22/08/2026 11:30

Oh wise ones, can I shrink a pair of linen (not Toast but good quality linen) trousers by washing them hot? If so, how hot? Or will they just stretch back when worn? These were a donation from my sis, and I’m wondering whether to try and do something and risk ruining them or just give up and put them on Vinted. I would need them to shrink in all directions, not just the length. Any ideas? Thanks.

Gelsomino · 22/08/2026 11:33

Ive never been to a decent exchange event, always tat quite frankly.
I was burned early on after handing in virtually new stuff to find washed out tatty old items being gushed over by the staff
Total swizz imho
A voucher off new collection would be preferable
Easier to sell on resale sites and spend on new collections
Had a good look at the new drop recently
I really liked the Crinkle V neck dress, lots of navy and muted colours no yellow hurrah
Is there a new drop soon?

Countmeout · 22/08/2026 11:50

I think there’s more new stuff this week. I’m hoping for some knitwear and the Vibae Chelsea type boot I’ve seen in Vibae online and would like to try.

Ooh thanks @Countmeout
Will hang fire !

ScottishMouse · 22/08/2026 12:08

Yep, new drop coming Thursday according to Edinburgh store. Apparently it will be the biggest knitwear drop for the season. Knitwear is my favourite kind of shopping!!

faustina · 22/08/2026 13:38

@Theteapotsbrokenspout I'm thinking of buying that cardigan in the same colour. Is it rougher/heavier than the jumper in same linen cotton mix? I've been hesitating because I thought I'd wait til more knitwear arrives, but luckily it seems it'll be next week, so not long to go

I was almost tempted by some of the Celtic knitwear after their catalogue arrived in the post. It all looked great at first glance but there's always something a bit off when you look closer. Same with Poetry where I also looked. I have to admit that Toast's knitwear is much nicer than most, even though the prices are a bit silly

My reworn order arrived and I think it's all going back. The checked linen wide leg pull ons are not flattering in the slightest and the ecru carpenter jean are too big

Gelsomino · 22/08/2026 15:00

@faustina
I think its because Celtic knitwear is knitted flat and then sewn rather than knitted in the round
It is particularly noticeable in yoked sweaters and makes me rather sad!
@ScottishMouse thank you
I will ignore the knitwear stash I already have in eager anticipation!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 22/08/2026 15:01

@faustina the only thing I’ve got similar is the V-neck tank from a couple of years ago. This jumper looks a much finer knit but I haven’t tried it.
I am aware that darker dyes can change the feel of fabric so I don’t know if that’s the problem, and I do have very sensitive skin. I'm going to return it, at that price it needs to be perfect.

@ScallopShellWalk - I have the heavy knitted dress - sleeveless version. It’s lovely but I haven’t yet found an occasion to wear it 🙀I must get it out and find a use for it!

OP posts:
ScallopShellWalk · 22/08/2026 16:03

@IlovePond oh yes you must wear it. I admit if I did manage to find a knitted dress that most likely I’d put it on when I wanted comfort.

The two white shirts arrived from reworn, one collarless and very long. I’ll have a think about this. The other has a collar and looks like the one currently still on the website. I like them both but I’ll have a better look at them again. Both immaculate from reworn.

I also succumbed to ordering from reworn sculpted ecru barrel denim trousers. Whether they will fit, I’m not sure. They might be too tight on the waist. Plus I already have the ecru wide legged jeans but I really like wearing this colour in trousers, who knew? I feel extravagant or greedy ordering these too. I think my wardrobe has pretty much all it needs now. I need to stop looking 😬 or find a way to look but leave alone. I am also enjoying it. 🙈

faustina · 22/08/2026 16:25

Thanks @Gelsomino - yes I see how that could be - they seem to fit really awkwardly

@Theteapotsbrokenspout it's the cotton linen easy sweater that I have which is quite a hefty knit, but it hangs really well maybe because of the weight. I was looking at the finer one you linked to and the reviews seem to suggest it's a bit flimsy. perhaps there'll be something better next week!

@ScallopShellWalk I am after ecru jeans too! I'm hesitant about returning the carpenter jeans even though they're big - might try them tomorrow. I wish I'd bought the relaxed wide leg ecru pair which were in the sale - but they didn't have my size left. If anyone wants to rehome them in a 6 please message me. Barrel legs don't work for me because I'm too short and you can't shorten the leg or lose the shape. It's very annoying!

IlovePond · 22/08/2026 16:44

My Reworn order has arrived:

Two linen dresses - both extremely well-worn. They look as if they have come straight from the Exchange rails.

If I had seen them at an Exchange, I would have been pleased with one of them, (the other is both horrid AND well-worn!) As it is, neither are worth what Toast is charging for them. (Think £15 on eBay tops.)

Both going back.

Cotton skirt, (might be poplin). Clearly brand new and has probably come as a ‘return’ from the recent sale, (looks very familiar).

Unfortunately, I thought it had an elasticated waist. Sadly it does not and the waistband is tiny! I tried it on twice but it looks ridiculous with the button undone, (the material is stiff and doesn’t hang right unless buttoned up.)

Sadly this too is going back, but it is lovely.

The Reworn prices and wild variation in quality make no sense to me.

All three of these items cost roughly the same. However, the skirt would have been a bargain, (had it fitted), whereas no one in their right mind - imo - would pay £50+ each for these dresses!

Oh well - I didn’t ‘need’ any of them!

OP posts:
ScallopShellWalk · 22/08/2026 17:13

@IlovePond That’s interesting about the reworn. Yes some are horrid, some amazing. That’s a lot to ask for a sad dress or two. Pity about the skirt, it’s great though that it can be sent back. I do like that about reworn, I’m likely to try something I wouldn’t buy from somewhere non returnable. What did the nice skirt look like?
I tried my shirts again from reworn and decided to keep them.

IlovePond · 22/08/2026 17:23

@ScallopShellWalk - I think it was in a recent sale - it’s stiff cotton - poplin? - long and layered. The colour is grey/blue according to the label but it looks black to me.

It’s just my kind of thing, but too small 😿

OP posts:
ScallopShellWalk · 22/08/2026 17:30

@IlovePond sounds nice. Maybe you’ll see the next size up.

IlovePond · 22/08/2026 17:36

I will keep an eye out @ScallopShellWalk !

OP posts:
faustina · 22/08/2026 18:29

@IlovePond - now you know which size to look for, perhaps you could hunt down your skirt on Vinted?

I agree about the reworn pricing - it's odd isn't it? Maybe they have a price for each type of thing: dress, shoes, etc, so sometimes a piece is almost new and costs nearly the same as something very very tired. both pairs of trousers in my order looked new

ToastSafeFromMothsAndDogs · 22/08/2026 18:31

@ScallopShellWalk i bought the very dark blue linen knitted dress with short sleeves in the sale. Someone here said it was flattering and indeed it is. I’ve just washed it for the second time (wool cycle in machine) and will report back on whether it is still holding up well. It hasn’t been baggy so far.

IlovePond · 22/08/2026 18:43

It’s very bizarre @faustina - my DSIS got a brand new pair of Fracaps from Reworn for £45!

The grey linen checked tier dress I got a while back was recent season and brand new, (probably a sale return). I love it! The lilac linen dress I bought earlier was much older stock, but again looked new or at least almost new. Both were cheaper than the worn, old dresses they sent me this week!

Re: The skirt - it was nice, but apart from the tiny waistband I tend to prefer softer fabric so it’s all good. I would have kept it if it had fitted, but I am not too bothered.

On another note:

I’m going to be passing KC next week so will report back if anything decent from the last sale is in the ‘outlet’ section.
