As promised, here is the new thread.

@ScottishMouse - Hope you manage to get a refund. It depends on what they categorise as 'significantly not as described' - which can be a bit fluid. What was the official condition category: Very Good? Or new without tags?

My wardrobe is bulging but I’ve suddenly got a total hankering for the cotton wool herringbone jacket and matching trousers. Has anyone bought one or both. Is the jacket true to size? Do you reach for the jacket a lot? I so rarely buy at full price and I can see they’ve been around at least a year. Don’t know if they’re due to land in a sale soon and there’s certainly no big hurry to buy so that I’m trying to do some due diligence!

Hello, I have indeed just bought the trousers and jacket, having had them on my wish list for quite a while. The jacket was out of stock for months and when it came back in last week I pounced. Interestingly the website recommended a size 10 for me for the trousers and a 12 for the jacket but, based on reviews, in the end I flipped it and kept the 12 in the trousers (my usual high street size) and the 10 in the jacket and it was the right choice. The trousers were too small in a 10 and the jacket swamped in a 12. I may yet get the sleeves of the jacket slightly altered as they are a cm or so too long, but I do like bracelet sleeves on those slightly fitted, more cropped jacket. There is no sign of the herringbone pattern to my eye, but it’s none the worse for it.

As reviews have said, they feel more canvas than wool or cotton, but they are of substantial weight so very much a spring/autumn/winter piece. I intend to wear as a suit for work with a Toast shirt or maybe more causally with a tee at the weekend.

I like the cut, I think they are a good workhorse and I am looking forward to wearing them when the weather cools a tad. I used Harper Try Before You Buy for the first time and it went well, refunded very quickly and the charge for the pieces I kept was this am.

I also took the opportunity to reorder the blue striped Baya which I had previously ordered and sent back because of perceived button misplacement. It is a great shirt and indeed will look good with the herringbone suit.

I also tried the washed black denim skirt which I wanted to love but which was snug around the waist and would have been too flared had I sized up so that went back too.

In terms of waiting for the sale, I’m not sure, as the jacket has recently come back into stock so I am assuming it was on an alert for lots of people (including me). It is very classic Toast, pricey, but good quality and cut and something to wear over the seasons and years.

Thank you for your brilliantly informative reply. I am very tempted but as I don’t need a suit for work I wonder if I’ll get the wear. However, the jacket looks so wearable… Will let you know how I get on!

Yesterday I received from reworn some Corinne cotton linen wide legged trousers in slate. They are really quite nice. I will need to take them up but they are particularly comfy. I’m thinking they will be nice in the colder months. I actually do have black pair of cotton linen trousers from Brora, which I like but they are a little big so not as comfy to wear, as I need a belt. I did think that I don’t need 2 pairs but they are not the same colour or shape, though granted, very similar. I’m going to keep them. They are in a very good condition and a good price.

triggers34 · 15/08/2026 10:29

@ScallopShellWalkthey sound lovely . I only check reworn when I get prompted by shopify , or here .

ScallopShellWalk · 15/08/2026 10:43

@triggers34 I sometimes or often browse it along with the resell sites. I like that I can send them back to toast if it doesn’t look good.

ScottishMouse · 15/08/2026 11:10

You lot are such terrible enablers! I just tried on the herringbone jacket, which I had never noticed before the mention here, and ended up buying it! I had returned the new black jacket last week as the extra fabric which is thick and heavy made wearing a crossbody bag tricky and that is what I often use. Contrary to all the reviews, I sized up in the herringbone one to accommodate layers because it was neat-ish across my broad shoulders. The style of the trousers doesn’t work for me, but I ca see this would make a very nice set.

Ditto. Now I’m even keener. I can see they have a few in store about 1.5 hours away. They know me well (!) so I think they will hold on for a few days until I can get there. It just looks perfect, fitted and slouchy at the same time iyswim.

😂 off to have a look !

ScottishMouse · 15/08/2026 21:01

The only thing I would say about the herringbone jacket is that the sleeves are long. Maybe just on me, because I do have short arms, but I will have to turn them up and lose the nice button detail.
I am really struggling psychologically with my menopause/middle-age weight gain though. I know logically how stupid this is, but I hate that I am having to buy size 14/large more recently. I used to be 8/xs just a few short years ago and had been that size all my adult life so I just don’t feel myself anymore. Menopause has to take some of the blame, but life has also been incredibly stressful for the last number of years and the stressful situation is ongoing and getting worse and I think the combination of cortisol and comfort eating has much to answer for. I almost didn’t buy the jacket because I needed to buy a 14. But I am also mad at myself for even feeling this, because logically I understand it shouldn’t matter at all. Even the joy of buying a nice new item of clothing can be so complicated!

ScallopShellWalk · 15/08/2026 22:27

@ScottishMouse I understand a lot of what you say. I felt similar recently in noticing I am more often buying a size up and I don’t like what I read into that. But just now on reflection I realise I want to wear oversized clothes so why does it matter, it’s oversized, the number on the clothes doesn’t really mean that much. We choose how we want it to look or feel. But I still want to be smaller.

ScottishMouse · 15/08/2026 22:54

Yup @ScallopShellWalk i agree with this. What does the number matter? But yet I want the number to be smaller. Sigh.

ScallopShellWalk · 15/08/2026 23:03

@ScottishMouse me too.

Onto the new collection
Have had a good look and I really like the look of the wool/ lyocell tops, the Corn dolly shirt and dress , the Jaquard striped sweater
Dont want to commit to a sweater too soon as there might be more to come !

CakeAndJazz · 17/08/2026 09:05

@ScottishMouse did you end up with a positive resolution on Vinted? I currently have a similar issue on Vinted with an unresponsive seller after offering me a partial refund. Will have to wait to get Vinted involved…

ScottishMouse · 17/08/2026 15:04

Sorry to hear that @CakeAndJazz My return arrived two days ago and I have heard nothing since, which is a bit annoying. Just hoping I get automatically refunded and they don’t raise any issues before then. Hope yours get sorted quickly.

CakeAndJazz · 17/08/2026 20:12

Thanks @ScottishMouse it just adds such unnecessary stress. I hope yours gets sorted soon then.

I ordered and received a striped hat from Reworn a few weeks ago. It’s an unusual (for me) tulip shape, and I’m not sure it suits, but I like it so much. Have not ordered anything else recently, as I’m waiting to see what’s coming in September and am wondering whether there might be some bits I’m interested in (the pink linen shirt and skirt) in the end of summer sale.

ScallopShellWalk · 18/08/2026 12:15

When is the end of summer sale expected?

OrangeyLemon · 18/08/2026 13:16

My guess on the sale is 24th or 25th September, going on the dates from last year, ending on Monday 28th

ScallopShellWalk · 18/08/2026 15:10

@OrangeyLemon thank you. Just a few days I guess means no restock. Need to be decisive or reckless 🤣

OrangeyLemon · 18/08/2026 15:13

Yes I think it’s usually very quick @ScallopShellWalk and annoying if you want to swap for a different size!

Countmeout · 19/08/2026 17:08

Reworn drop . Including some current stuff.

IlovePond · 19/08/2026 18:15

Thanks @Countmeout - I put lots in my basket and then lost out as I was trying to order whilst playing Scrabble and things got snapped up 😹

I have ordered a few things to try.

I got the fig skirt @IlovePond . I’ve had it in and out my basket at full price a number of times. Some good things if you’re a size 6
