Hello, I have indeed just bought the trousers and jacket, having had them on my wish list for quite a while. The jacket was out of stock for months and when it came back in last week I pounced. Interestingly the website recommended a size 10 for me for the trousers and a 12 for the jacket but, based on reviews, in the end I flipped it and kept the 12 in the trousers (my usual high street size) and the 10 in the jacket and it was the right choice. The trousers were too small in a 10 and the jacket swamped in a 12. I may yet get the sleeves of the jacket slightly altered as they are a cm or so too long, but I do like bracelet sleeves on those slightly fitted, more cropped jacket. There is no sign of the herringbone pattern to my eye, but it’s none the worse for it.
As reviews have said, they feel more canvas than wool or cotton, but they are of substantial weight so very much a spring/autumn/winter piece. I intend to wear as a suit for work with a Toast shirt or maybe more causally with a tee at the weekend.
I like the cut, I think they are a good workhorse and I am looking forward to wearing them when the weather cools a tad. I used Harper Try Before You Buy for the first time and it went well, refunded very quickly and the charge for the pieces I kept was this am.
I also took the opportunity to reorder the blue striped Baya which I had previously ordered and sent back because of perceived button misplacement. It is a great shirt and indeed will look good with the herringbone suit.
I also tried the washed black denim skirt which I wanted to love but which was snug around the waist and would have been too flared had I sized up so that went back too.
In terms of waiting for the sale, I’m not sure, as the jacket has recently come back into stock so I am assuming it was on an alert for lots of people (including me). It is very classic Toast, pricey, but good quality and cut and something to wear over the seasons and years.
