Opinions on these sandals please?

I'm eyeing up these sandals but can't decide. Thoughts please?

I am terrible for buying fugly sandals as I want something comfy, then they arrive and I decide they are awful and send them back 😅

I want something closed toe with a back strap for driving/ walking/ work in the summer (my work is quite casual though). Just something I can wear with casual dresses and shorts. That line between comfy but vaguely fashionable is hard to find.

I was specifically answering a poster about how my footwear choices have changed.

I have positive associations with an element of what might be called ‘ jarring’ perhaps because of Vivienne Westwood and punk design. It seems feet friendly and à individualistic and miles away from ‘ wear heels to make your legs look long and your bum stick out, to appeal to men’. It has more ‘ freedom’ associations to me, because it’s unexpected and utilitarian yet decorative.

I like practical shoes & many of the ones called fugly here look fine to me.

It's like baby names, OP. What you choose that feels good on your feet, will look good on your feet in your eyes and your eyes are the only ones that matter.

They're not something I would wear.

I certainly didn't mean to start any nasty debates about age. Nothing to do with age as far as I'm concerned.

Art Shoes from Spain do good closed toes sandals. I have wonky toes from bunions so prefer to enclose them.
I looked for a link and sandals are all in the sale so not really closed toe ones left. Do check out eBay or whatever though.

I wouldn’t order from them. They sound like an unreliable company with bad customer service. If they were really established since 1995, would they only have 3 reviews? The 5 star one is obviously fake.

That goes for everything though, everyone should always wear what they like, there is nothing more tragic than wearing something you dislike just as others say it’s good.

on saying that, you did seek opinion, and they are not attractive looking sandals for most. I understand some like them,

we see a lot of dated stuff on this sub forum, and some really awful outfits recommended, something that always causes some controversy.

I often think people should have a little image by their user name with a pic of their favourite outfit on them, and then you can decide if that’s someone you wish to take style advice from, or if it’s someone you’d studiously avoid dressing like.

I already have one pair of regular strappy sandals from Plakton that are great and have lasted about 6 years so far, so they're not unreliable or fake.

As there are only 3 reviews on that link, one of which is 5 stars, I'd be inclined to ignore it!

Me too. I’ve googled but can’t see anyone modelling them. My local high street stock that brand (I’ve recently bought some Birkenstock look a-likes from Plakton, very happy with them), so I’m going to pop in and see if they have them. I’m curious to see what they’re like.

Traditional Menorcan sandals might fit the bill - https://solillas.com/collections/original-menorcan-sandals - they are not totally closed toe, but pretty close. Lots of colours.

I don't actually mind them. But then I have an aversion to the popular choice - I'd much rather something less generic.

If I'm walking and driving I just wear my slip on dainty Sketchers they look fine with a dress, and they look far better than those hideous sandals I'm 55 and wouldn't wear any of those.

Yeah those are quite beyond fugly. May have been mentioned but are you open to something sportier...as in actual athletic sport not stylish "sporty"...my 82 yo mother equates "sporty" with "hip". If so, my go to toe protection sandal will always be the self prescribed "world's ugliest sandal", KEEN Newport. Actually scored a like new thrifted pr yesterday!

I'm going against the grain here by saying I quite like them They look quite funky and I bet they are really comfy.

Love them OP. Much better than most of the tat others have posted as suggestions on this thread! I think they look great.

Anyone over the age of 60 would be wearing these and not a year younger.

I think these M and S ones are nice for what you are wanting op.
