Opinions on these sandals please?

I'm eyeing up these sandals but can't decide. Thoughts please?

I am terrible for buying fugly sandals as I want something comfy, then they arrive and I decide they are awful and send them back 😅

I want something closed toe with a back strap for driving/ walking/ work in the summer (my work is quite casual though). Just something I can wear with casual dresses and shorts. That line between comfy but vaguely fashionable is hard to find.

What about Pikolinos if you need a comfy shoe/sandal? They have lots that are closed toe or use lots of straps that cover toes. Most of them have a cushioned sole.

Granny basher sandals.

Closed toe sandals with an ankle strap never look brilliant.
Instead of sandals maybe a pair of colourful Mary Jane’s would suit better?
I buy all of my shoes/sandals/boots from Moshulu because they are so comfy and come in amazing colours.
Their Mary Janes come in some great colours, are comfortable and because a lot of the shoe is open they don’t get too sweaty.

But not suitable for walking 20,000 steps a day working, running about on the tube all day or crossing the city back and forth etc?

That poster is somewhat obsessed with any comments that are, in her eyes, trying to be humorous. Yes, there probably are many unfunny comments on MN (& the frequent hyperbole about spitting your tea out or choking on your food is a bit excessive), but her fixation with accusing people who make a throw-away comment of being liars & bullies is a bit strange, IMO.

I have done a Churchill "Oh no no no no" headshake to literally all of these.

I treated myself to some M&S sandals a couple of years ago. They didnt even last 1 summer and they refused to do anything about it.

@purplepuffa I think they are hideous, but if you like them then get some. I've just bought some Karrimor Salinas because they are comfy and last. Plus I like them. Im sure most people on here wont though.

You're missing the point. It's the hyperbolic "ooh hideous, but it won't matter to oldies."

I don't think the sandals themselves are hideous, if anything they're unremarkable (most trainers threads beat them hands down in the ugly stakes). There are less attractive alternatives suggested. The OP hasn't mentioned whether she's old enough to be expected to wear "hideous" sandals.

It hasn't happened on this thread but she has a point about the "hilarious" comments turning into pile ons. They do happen.

Oh behave @monicagellerbing! Absolutely NOT true. Maybe it used to be like this, but my parents are in there 80s and still fashionable and no way would my mother wear these! In fact if I show her the thread she be laughing at the “chicken fillets” comments

No one is saying elderly have to put up with hideous clothes, what’s being said is people of different generations make different clothing choices. I’m in my fifties, I absolutely do not dress like an 18 year old. I still wear current clothes, but I am not running round with my socks pulled up and wearing sliders with some jorts. I am not wearing short shorts with my arse hanging out.Could I yes, but like many people my age I am not.

and when we get to our 80s and 90s, very often fashion becomes secondary to practicality, do you need a sturdy sole for stability or foot problems, Velcro straps due to dexterity issues etc, these shoes encompass this hence why a couple of folks have said they are more suited to the elderly.

I keep looking at the OP shoes and can't work out if I quite like them. Some of the colour ways are good. But I like Fly, Art and Birkenstock shoes.

Some of the really flat strappy ones make my feet hurt just looking at them. And foot issues happen for lots of us way before you get to your 80s.
