Opinions on these sandals please?

I'm eyeing up these sandals but can't decide. Thoughts please?

I am terrible for buying fugly sandals as I want something comfy, then they arrive and I decide they are awful and send them back 😅

I want something closed toe with a back strap for driving/ walking/ work in the summer (my work is quite casual though). Just something I can wear with casual dresses and shorts. That line between comfy but vaguely fashionable is hard to find.

Sorry but they are truly horrible.

Here in defence of the Air and Grace ones! Got some earlier this year (I had a thread at the time because I wanted views before I splashed out) and they are so very comfortable. Non-crampy or pinchy pointed flats is very much their USP.

I dislike them greatly, along with some of the suggested alternatives! As for fisherman's sandals, I'm not a huge fan myself, though some are ok. It all depends on what your style is, OP?

I did spot these as a slightly less chunky alternative, but have no idea what the quality would be like.

I don't care one way or another if you like them but bore off with the ageist crap that they're hideous but fine for anyone over a certain age.

If you want a closed toe then the Joseph Seibel Rosalie ones are incredibly comfortable and go with everything. I have them in red and navy. There's a few different versions, and for me the most flattering ones are the ones where the straps cross over at the front.

Yes. Good, I’m glad. I should have been more specific! For me, age 67, they are too toe crampy looking. I’ve become very very wary of my toes getting cramped, as I dread the Bunion.
I used to wear anything and everything on my feet and I’m mainly avoiding- dressing.. like ‘ that might cause pain’ = avoid.
I think on this board, part of the differing range of answers is due to age.

When I was little I used to enjoy designing wacky and out-there footwear and drawing up blue-prints of the shoes, before using old bits of cardboard, rolls and rolls of sellotape, pipe cleaners and lengths of crazily-coloured string to make them. Sometimes my Mum would help me to use the glue gun to make them extra-professional (yknow, just like the real artisans). I was a deranged, preschool cobbler and once I’d made these many pairs of shoes I would put on fashion shows showcasing several pairs at a time for my lucky parents and grandparents.

I tell you this because I can say without a shadow of a doubt that I would rather wear any one of those pairs of shoes designed by my four-year-old self— including a pair that memorably utilised the labels from several cans of Whiskas so that the shoes had a collage of terrifying cat faces on the front of them— than whatever the fuck any of these are. Extra points to @Gateappreciationwho linked to the worst looking shoes in the history of footwear. It was a challenge, but you rose to the occasion. Bravo! 👏🏻

It’s because closed toe sandals just don’t really work, it’s nearly impossible to find a pair that does, I think you need to find something more elegant, anything clumpy just looks either vey dated, fugly or a bit orthopaedic.

Ah, there's nothing like a comfy sandal thread for a good laugh, this has been a cracker.
As this is about closed toes, I guess it's why nobody has mentioned Tevas yet, they usually crop up with people apparently walking miles in them, but they look like agony to me, a wide footed Birkenstock wearer.

Imo it’s the velcro strap. They look like they’re designed for somebody who has difficulty with bending over.

I’m 54, my mother is 80, and she tried to steal them from me 🤣🤣 no bunions that I am aware of… But yes, bodies and feet can change shape as we get older, that’s why I think it’s useful when posters looking for Style and Beauty enabling assistants give an age. Not because fashion/style is ageist but I know that things I wore at 25 do not fit the same way (or at all) at nearly 54 despite being pretty much the same weight and dress size.

Or doing buckles or laces. That’s often why Velcro straps are on shoes. They also look like they are built for someone with foot problems, so limited options.

Nah I'm not keen. It's almost more a shandal, like there's not enough exposure of the toes. So it's kind of being a shoe with holes in it.
The different colours are cool but I'm not feeling the actual style.
If you like it then you should still go for them though. They're not stand out horrible or anything.

Sorry. I know this style is very fashionable/popular at the moment but to me they look like the sandals worn by men of a certain age, with mid calf socks 😉 Having said that they are probably very comfortable.

I absolutely love them. I've looked at them at all angles and several colours and am considering buying a pair in mustard.
