Opinions on these sandals please?

I'm eyeing up these sandals but can't decide. Thoughts please?

I am terrible for buying fugly sandals as I want something comfy, then they arrive and I decide they are awful and send them back 😅

I want something closed toe with a back strap for driving/ walking/ work in the summer (my work is quite casual though). Just something I can wear with casual dresses and shorts. That line between comfy but vaguely fashionable is hard to find.

Also welcome other suggestions!

@DoraSpenlowthere aren’t really any other style except Fisherman’s sandals if you want a closed toe sandal with a strap.

My dad wore fisherman sandals back in the day without socks, he looked good 🤷🏻‍♀️

hahabahbag · 16/07/2026 17:38

I don’t mind them, but then I like another poster don’t mind Hotter shoes, comfort rules. As to why closed toe- some forms of employment require it, I have closed toe barefoot sandals shop floor compliant just

ThisAmpleDenimCrab · 16/07/2026 17:39

Is this a joke? They would make a supermodel look frumpy 🤣

FrostyMorn · 16/07/2026 08:44

I like them!!

Shame there's no photo of them on an actual foot, though.

It’s because even the models wouldn’t be seen dead in them!!

UrbanSoul · 16/07/2026 17:48

I like them. I'm not a slave to fashion though and I do like comfy shoes.

It’s not really a sandal season imo so little newness.

Not sandal season? It’s summer with sunshine and searing temperatures. If this isn’t sandal season then when is?

They’re horrible! Unless you’re 80+

They’re horrible even if you’re 80 plus!

Fiendishandfiery · 16/07/2026 17:58

I don’t know how you even find sandals like that, when I google closed toe sandals it’s all relatively tasteful. Nothing like the ops comes up or any of the other fugly ones we’ve seen.😂

Opinions on these sandals please?
FartNRoses · 16/07/2026 18:19

Oooh I might have to join ‘the fugly sandal gang’
I’ve ordered these flats! Not to everyone’s taste but I love ❤️

Closed toe sandals are in general fugly, the first 3 are definitely fugly the ones after that that I have seen get better

wheresmeaircon · 16/07/2026 18:33

@AppleDumplingWithCustardfootwear fashion is not all about sandals at the moment despite the weather, hence why there isnt a new style. People are wearing trainers, ballet flats, birk boston etc instead.

category12 · 16/07/2026 19:04

I quite like them, OP, but I like mary janes and chunky soles. The thin soled, strappy sandal alternative suggestions on here make me sad.

I probably wouldn't get them in the nubuck colour, I'd lean in and pick the green, yellow or red. Have fun with it.

ReflectiveGilet · 16/07/2026 19:14

op I like them. Some other suggestions on this thread are yuck

PhaedraTwo · 16/07/2026 19:16

No I will not shut up. These sandals are either ugly or not ugly. There's nothing inherently restrictive or difficult about wearing them. It's unthinking casual ageism to say

Hideous unless you’re in your 90’s

They’re horrible! Unless you’re 80+

As if older people should be expected to wear clothes which are too hideous or ugly for anyone else.

PrettyLittleRose · 16/07/2026 19:17

HIDEOUS! 😱

I quite like them but then I like Hotter shoes which are frequently mocked here!
Comfort comes first with feet.

I’m glad I’m not the only one. I think it depends what your legs are like. If they’re quite long, a good shape with a bit of a tan they might look fine. I quite like a frumpy sandal though 😁

Because nobody would wear them; not even the models, for money!

wheresmeaircon · 16/07/2026 19:31

But surely when you’re 90 you can’t wear the same footwear you did when 40? I don’t wear the same footwear I did when I was 18. I don’t do slingblacks, mules. heels now. I assume at 90 I will have to give up very flat, ankle straps & platforms.

CurlewKate · 16/07/2026 19:53

is a closed toe absolutely necessary? Because Birkenstocks seem to be pretty universally acceptable these days. And they are super comfortable.

daughterfromhell · 16/07/2026 19:58

Awful! The M&S ones are better but not great.

Booboobagins · 16/07/2026 20:00

They have a good foot bed, so will be good and supportive. I really like them. If they're fairly light, I wouldn't mind a pair myself - I have an arch that partially collapses when I walk, over time I've worn my cartridge away on the inside of my knee so I need an op. The more I do to support the arch the longer I postpone the op and as my hubby died following a knee op, I'm good with that!!!!

Pinkissmart · 16/07/2026 20:06

OP, I quite like them. Sandals are so individual. I think those would look nice with loads of different outfits

Gosh you haunt style and beauty permanently on the look out for anything to offend re age. People keep explaining it to uou. People who are 80 do not dress the same as people who are 10, or 20, thays not ageism

and the fact these look like something someone older would wear is becaude older people often have foot issues and dexterity issues, so shoes like this would work better. Again that’s not ageist it’s just a fact of ageing.

uou need to accept at some point, people of different age groups dress differently due to different needs.
