Do you wear knickers with chub rub shorts?

Sorry was the easiest way to describe them. I love summer dresses but need the shorts underneath. I’ve always worn knickers but was thinking that actually it’s an extra layer. If they have a gusset then I assume they’re designed to wear on their own?

I wear tights without knickers (no tights in this heat though!) providing they have a “realistic” sized cotton gusset and no centre seam (the more expensive Autograph range are good) they stay up better that way; they adhere to your body, no slippage against different fabrics. You have to pay more for them than supermarket cheapies though.

Fair enough, it would never have occurred to me not to wear knickers! I only wear Snag as they are the only brand that fit me.

I now feel I've been seduced into buying these from an Amazon bot- I am very underwhelmed.

I am currently wearing them with no underwear but I don't think I will be able to do so in future. I guess it is to do with anatomy...large lips and fat arse then knickers are definitely required.

I’ve just received another three pairs from Snag, as I like the colours - I now have nine pairs! Two royal blue, two turquoise, pink, yellow, coral, mint and red (in case anyone is interested!). But I've been getting away with them as gym wear in this hot weather with a loose training top, as well as under dresses and skirts, so I’m glad to have a decent amount in rotation. I wear mine with knickers.

Now my FB is flooded.

Quick q - does no one feel appalled by the term "chub rub"? If I needed these I would be devastated tbh. Either because chubby or because muscular and athletic but described as chubby.

It is honestly weird, we wore dresses all the time in the 70 80s, we didn't wear shorts , no one had this strange (thing) about if someone may see your pants!!! It's not healthy behavior.

I wear snag ones, they are just the top bit of tights, so you wear knickers with them, just the same as you would with tights.

I am in the south so it was very hot the other week and I wasn't hot in them at all. Indeed, I think the shorts make you cooler as they are wicking.

I wear shorts under dresses because I want to. In the 70s I was a teenager and had thin legs, wore maxi skirts or hot pants and thongs didn’t really exist. I remember my grandma had bloomers from M+S - long legged cotton pointelle knickers with elastic round the bottoms of the legs.

You also weren’t concerned about if someone stuck their phone under your skirt and got a photo. I don’t see what’s unhealthy about not waiting people to see your underwear, what’s that got to do with health?

Nipples showing through your clothes was a completely normal and accepted thing in the 70’s as well.

I think that would be undesirable for most women now, since the advent of the moulded cup t-shirt bra in the 90’s. Times change.

The only reason I wear them is because my thighs rub. Nothing really to do with worrying about who might see my knickers.

This is one of the reasons I live Oddballs Bamboo long leg shorts as you get lots of gusset. I recently bought some Tu boy shorts ( I have them as night time pants) and the bloody gusset is only just over an inch wide... Covers bloody nothing

Aand, I had a delivery this week of new pants and DS came in this morning wearing them said they feel lovely.

Now I had bought him new pants (from a sale at work, he usually buys his own pants) and they all got mixed up. So now he is perusing Bamboo long boxers
