Do you wear knickers with chub rub shorts?

Sorry was the easiest way to describe them. I love summer dresses but need the shorts underneath. I’ve always worn knickers but was thinking that actually it’s an extra layer. If they have a gusset then I assume they’re designed to wear on their own?

wirarpa Ladies Safety Boxer Shorts Cotton Anti Chafing Long Leg Knickers Underwear Women's Boy Shorts Leggings for Under Dresses Multipack https://amzn.eu/d/09A29Rl8

these are great

The exact same ones I have. They are worth every penny. They are long legged knickers, fresh pair each day. If they had short legs you would wear knickers underneath so why would you when they have long legs?

Iggii · 22/06/2026 07:10

Most of the shorts aren't cotton though - cotton pants all the way next to my skin

Interesting that it’s a 50/50 split. To the pp that says they don’t wear anything underneath dresses, you clearly don’t have thighs that rub like mine!!

But they're acting as underwear - why on earth would I wear knickers with them?

dudsville · 22/06/2026 07:29

I have the Snag ones, they're made of polyamide and elastine with the minimal cotton gusset. During the last warm weather, I wore them 5 days in a row (fresh ones each day) without pants. I developed a rash at the uppermost part of the leg where the fabric sat neatly against the "armpit" of the leg, and a minor vaginally infection. So I will stick to my cotton pants as a necessary under layer.

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 22/06/2026 07:29

They replace knickers. Transforms the comfort. I used to feel hot and miserable, trussed up like a chicken. Makes such a difference, wearing only one layer. It’s like when you’re able to ditching the bra.

Unicornsandprincesses · 22/06/2026 07:33

I wear some by Sloggi that are 100% cotton with a gusset. They’re essentially pants with legs

RunningNananananananananana · 22/06/2026 07:36

Yes, mine are like tights.

Exactly. They are knickers but with long legs. With the exception of needing to keep a towel in place I can’t see why you would need to wear knickers.

SummitWrong · 22/06/2026 07:38

Oddballs bamboo womens boxer shorts. They're the future...

Sparrowsandbudgies · 22/06/2026 07:42

Always wear knickers. But then I don’t wear those shorts when it’s super hot, I’d wear proper shorts or cropped trousers instead of a dress.

Soontobe60 · 22/06/2026 07:48

I wear the M+S ones by themselves. I also wear them under loose wide legged trousers as I can still get some friction at the tops of my inner thighs because the trousers don’t actually fit snugly. Plus, in this weather I wear them instead of pj bottoms because for some weird reason I can’t bear my thighs sticking together in bed - game changer!

Shodan · 22/06/2026 08:08

I don't wear knickers under mine, but mine are 100% cotton. They get washed after every wear, like normal knickers.

I also sized up so while they are still snug enough to do the job around the thighs, they are slightly looser everywhere else. Surprisingly comfy and cool.

basoon · 22/06/2026 08:19

No just the shirts, to me it's obvious they are the knickers

PutYourSpecsOnJean · 22/06/2026 08:24

I have the Snag ones and wear knickers under because they are essentially the top of tights (I know the gusset is cotton but it's quite small, I always assumed that like on tights it's just to make them a bit more breathable in that area).

I'm interested in the Sloggi ones as I have some other Sloggi underwear that is great - @MachineBee @Unicornsandprincesses where do you get yours from? I looked on Amazon and I do not understand the sizing which is a mixture of S-XL and really high numbers which are not mentioned on the size chart

Cityzen74 · 22/06/2026 08:28

Yes I just never thought not to wear knickers as well!

SecretSloth99 · 22/06/2026 08:35

NotTodayPhyllis · 21/06/2026 21:50

I used the mega babe anti chafe stick for thighs and ditched any shorts because it worked so well. It was much better than having another layer on hot days so I really recommend it.

Oooh did you find you had to reapply through the day?

TallulahBetty · 22/06/2026 08:44

Of course. They're not underwear.

Ratherbeadolphin · 22/06/2026 08:48

WonderfulSmith · 21/06/2026 22:29

This is what I wear. I don’t get why you would need knickers under your knickers.

Thanks for this. I have been wearing Wirarpa knickers for ages since someone here recommended them. Thanks to whoever it was. I will definitely get the shorts.

Could you try walking with your feet further apart?

Jollyhockeystickss · 22/06/2026 08:57

I just use vaseline its brilliant i have a huge tub at home and a tiny one i take out with me, you put loads on where you rub on your thighs and no chaffing its brilliant

Jollyhockeystickss · 22/06/2026 09:01

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 21/06/2026 22:05

I think this works brilliantly - but always leaves a greasy patch on my skirt/dress if I am sitting. Am I just using too much? I’m pear shaped so hefty thighs but not a particularly large person (UK10/12) so I’m not using it on a massive surface area.

To answer OP’s question, yes I wear knickers.

I use vaseline its brilliant and it doesnt mark but if youre worried just wear a peticoat underneath
