@TragicMuse I got this as part of my Harrods order (was on 20% discount at the time) and love all the shades

@OvaHere if you want one with open shelves, one option is something like this from Ikea which you then get sprayed into a different colour. We bought a fold out writing desk from ikea and then got it spray painted to match our bathroom to turn it into a foldaway dressing table - trying to find it for you now.

I've mentioned before on the perfume thread that I have an old cocktail cabinet that I revamped for my scent and costume jewellery storage. Its fairly robust and they are easy to pick up. It lights up too.

OvaHere · 20/06/2026 19:18

Thanks for all the ideas. I'm now down an Ikea hacks rabbit hole and I think this could be the solution. Not too expensive and more robust than Amazon flatpack.

@OvaHere sadly looks like Ikea no longer stock the “secretary desk” but worth a google to see if that helps on the inspo front. Ours was white and then we added a double cupboard on top. Embarrassingly messy inside (because now it’s just a storage unit) but am being brave & showing both to give you some idea. DH wired it up with a light which was great when I used it as a dressing table.

Ooo do you have a photo? Sounds lovely 😍

@MrsBnow12 @Thelifeofawife thanks. I probably need to take a trip to Ikea and see what I can find.

I like this one too. You can get a ton of great looking combinations on Amazon but run the risk of parts missing and no replacement. Plus vast majority will be MDF which will probably not be doing so well a couple of years in.

I might research custom made as well although that will be ££££.

You can make something exactly like this using IKEA furniture. Just add some fancy handles for the drawers rather than using their basic ones.

This is my plan when I get around to doing my bedroom. I also need wardrobes

I'm a huge fan of Glossier Futuredew for glory skin. I use it under foundation and last time I was on Sephora it was on sale.

Oh yes, Futuredew is nice. I can’t recall why I stopped using it, might need to repurchase in the future! I’m keen to try the Rhode milks though.

kerstina · 20/06/2026 21:27

I haven’t been on this thread for a while as we are moving soon and I am trying to declutter not buy more stuff but I did crack with the looks fantastic vanilla scent edit . I do like vanilla scents and it came really quickly so I am very happy to try them. Also got DH the grooming one but he hasn’t shown much interest in it .

kerstina · 20/06/2026 21:29

Ps has anyone tried MAC face gloss?

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 20/06/2026 22:04

Has anyone used the Dr. Dennis Gross vitamin c lactic firm and bright serum? It's £35 at Tk maxx at the moment which seems like a bargain but not sure if I should go for it.

MrsBnow12 · 20/06/2026 18:29

Is it worth looking at some IKEA hacks and seeing if you can create something.
I really like this one

Word of warning about those ikea drawer units as the bottoms fall out or the fronts come off. Even after using loads of glue.

No but I swear by their illuminating primer - studio radiance - just use that and some face powder and it makes me look lit from within but not greasy

IDontHateRainbows · 21/06/2026 09:31

MrsBnow12 · 20/06/2026 13:38

I know a number of us love the Elizabeth Scarlett bags, the Christmas thread has a code QTA9K which takes 40% off on Bloom and Wild gifts and there are some ES bags included.
This one is down to £28.80

I dithered on this and found it has now expired

Yes I like that too. I like the one that looks a bit sparkly In sun light. I think there are two to choose from.

Ooh what's the other one, thought ther was only 'my' one the studio radiance primer - says moisturizing and illuminating.

TragicMuse · 21/06/2026 11:21

I’m going in with the Chantecaille recommended by @LightandBreezy it felt lighter on my hand than the Laneige water bank so I am hopeful it will be glowy not greasy.

Thanks everyone!

Try poco beauty universal glow. I use it as my spf and a primer and it’s amazing under make up too. Glowy but not shiney x

MrsDahliaTravers · 21/06/2026 13:10

The new Boots Cosmo box is available on the website now, couldn't see it on the app before

TragicMuse · 21/06/2026 13:24

I found a By Terry Brightening CC serum which seems to have some glowiness to it as well. So I’m giving that a try as well!

This is currently my favourite. It’s a really nice glowy serum which seems to minimise pores and smooths skin too. Great for make up free days. I also like the chanticaille but prefer the bronze one as I like more of a glow to my skin over summer. I keep the rose one for winter. At a cheaper price point glow recipe do a nice sun glow recipe which I also use regularly (It was on offer at tkmaxx)

edited to add: this is the by Terry set I got with the serum (serum is quite small though) and I really like the powder too as it takes away any shine and I love the eye shadow crayon so quick and easy to apply. https://www.sephora.co.uk/p/by-terry-all-time-icons?option=91786&clickref=1110l45QvvwN&app_clickref=1110l45QvvwN&utm_source=Partnerize&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=redbrain&partnertype=Comparison+Shopping+Services+%28CSS%29

IlovePond · 21/06/2026 15:00

I’m really not liking the orange Glow toner/serum. It’s a pretty bottle, but that’s all I can say for it. I hate chucking stuff away, though. Does anyone have any suggestions for using it up apart from on the face?

On a related note:

I have just finished the SdJ conditioner - the yellow one. It smells lovely but leaves my hair really greasy/dull. I genuinely don’t understand why I persisted in using it up. I think it would be better suited to very very dry hair, if anyone is thinking of trying it.

Beautyfox · 21/06/2026 20:27

Anyone tried the Sisley neck cream? I’ve just finished TRINNY elevator and really liked it but because I love trying new things I’m wondering about trying Sisley next although it’s double the price so it needs to be worth it.

@IlovePond i always use up any serums that I don’t like on my bingo wings and inner thigh. I think they improve the texture there and make it tighter. I’ve not used the toner/serum you mention but it might be worth a go to save it from the bin.

IlovePond · 21/06/2026 20:38

Thanks @Beautyfox - that’s s very good idea!

Addictedtobeauty · 21/06/2026 20:40

@Beautyfox I adore Sisley neck cream- it is, imo, magnificent. My all time favourite. I first got it to try as a beauty bible tester many years ago and it ended up winning gold for that year. At the time, I had just noticed horizontal lines on my neck and I kid you not, they disappeared. Texture vastly improved too - makes my skin so soft and velvety- and I only use a little bit each night so it lasts ages.
I’ve tried various others since, and none come close. I usually get a pot at Christmas and intersperse it with others, hoping to find something equal and cheaper. I haven’t tried Trinny yet though- (have one in my stash) perhaps that will be the one.
