I like Quentin. I think he's behind a lot of maison crivelli although they are very strong (the extraits certainly are) whereas Byredo is a lot more subtle as a house. Byredo holds a place in my heart as the house that got me into all of this, although looking at my bank balance that should be a reason to hate them....

It’s so funny this popped up today because I just ordered a sample of the new JPG release and saw it was Quentin Bisch! His fragrances always seem to be quite strong projecting, you definitely know they’re there.

QueefofSheena · 05/08/2026 16:29

Debaser today from a 7.5ml spray. It's not quite as strong and sharply green as the roller.

CorneliaStreet · 05/08/2026 16:34

Debaser is too much for me. I do like fig but need it mixed with some softer notes, so I need to find something to layer Debaser with.

SavageGarden23 · 05/08/2026 19:55

My partner came home and commented that I smell like a perfume shop! I think I sprayed commodity milk-, fugazzi vanilla haze , miller harris staccato throughout my wfh day to give myself A boost, and he came in just as I finished applying a nicely scented elvive hair serum.

OvaHere · 05/08/2026 21:04

SOTD was Goldfield & Banks Sunset Hour. Lovely fresh fruity fragrance but poor longevity.

I've followed up with SOTE Fugazzi Angel Dust. Not worn this in ages and found a 2ml sample when going through some stuff. It's lovely and one I should wear more often, I'm sure I've got an 8 or 10ml somewhere from a kit.

practicalmagictime · 05/08/2026 22:42

going to work my way through my samples I got today as I have 25% off a full bottle so need to make a decision

White Noise- Soft static for your nervous system. Creamy milky latte, warm cinnamon spice and clean golden musk, with whispers of comforting lavender, pink pepper and dry musky woods.

I mostly get the pepper and woods, beautiful skin scent and a yes from me

MiaN · 06/08/2026 06:38

I have mixed feelings about debasar. It took me few years to actually like it little bit - I can be in mood for that type of scent when it's hot out

practicalmagictime · 06/08/2026 08:15

Today’s test
don’t think this will be a full bottle contender as I have Zara a pastry in Paris which fits the lemon bakery category! it smells lovely though

Soft Launch- Lemon, light biscuit notes, vanilla milk. Inspired by Supermilk

MotherWol · 06/08/2026 10:58

SOTD EA White Tea EDP - very elegant and classic, straightforward feminine floral.

IDontHateRainbows · 06/08/2026 12:22

SOTD Radical rose extrait. Love love love this - my faviourite rose and it's quite strong. No one has commented yet (in the office today)

Debaser here because I've had it for ages and hadn't even opened it. Have seen people mention it a few times, so thought I'd give it a go. It's okay, not a love for me but happy enough to use it.

Someone also mentioned Figue Amour, so that's lined up for tomorrow.

OvaHere · 06/08/2026 13:21

My samples arrived just now including Byredo Future Memories @MiaN

Sprayed a little on the back of my hand as I've already got perfume on today. My very initial impressions are mixed. Peppery laundry powder is the best way I can describe the top notes. It's starting to settle something best described as fruity cinnamon (Dentyne chewing gum from the 90s?). It's sweeter than I expected and tbh it's giving me a bit elder Avon lady vibe. In the dry down it's maybe a bit like Killian Love Don't Be Shy.

Not an immediate love in the way Mojave Ghost and Alto Astral were so I'm glad I got a sample. I don't hate it and wouldn't say it's a scrubber but I don't think I'm going to want a bottle of this. I'll give it a proper wear another day as it could be a grower.

MiaN · 06/08/2026 13:27

Huh that does not sound like something I want in any of my memories

Old Alien today. Original formula or of my memory box

MiaN · 06/08/2026 13:38

From my memory box, sorry for the typo. Working from home so won't impact anyone.

Hope you like the Figue Amour! I do love it…

I wore Lannosea layered with vanilla Powder. My mum said it smelt ‘intellectual’!

Malle Portrait of a Lady today - I didn't like this much first time but I am liking it more today. Still not a fan of the patchouli note but I keep re spraying so something in me is liking it.

A blessed WFH day today which means - spritz time. I'll be aiming to try a few unusual or old forgotten ones for the experience.

Did a few happy place cosmetics tests, white noise is still winning

Barely- Soft silky musk, white lotus flower, creamy sandalwood

liked this but nose blind to it after 5 mins. My manager liked it and asked what it was. Clean reserve skin already in my collection and fits the category of skin scent so no to this

Burn the Patriarchy- Oud wood, smoked vanilla, sweetened gold amber, dark brown sugar

just a note in this I didn’t like so it’s a no

Banana Draft- A ripe note of banana unfolds like an idea just beginning to take shape—creamy, caramelised, gourmand and gorgeous . It rests on the dry whisper of paper: airy, fibrous, pale woods, like sunlight across a page of notes. A draft not yet finished. Warm sandalwood, soft vanilla and dried coconut notes.

nope. Apparently I don’t like banana notes! If you did, it’s lovely

FOR FREE - if anyone wants banana draft or burn the patriarchy I have 10ml of each I can post

OvaHere · 07/08/2026 09:39

Trying another of my samples today. Essential Parfums Ambre Latte. This is lovely, smells a lot like Vanilla Powder to me just not as strong or projecting. At £86 for 100ml at Selfridges probably a decent dupe for anyone not wanting to pay VP price.

Obviously go test it out yourselves though as it may not smell like VP to other people. Definitely in that scent profile family though.

IDontHateRainbows · 07/08/2026 12:36

Carnal Flower by Malle. Growing on me. Really enjoying the Malle discovery kit and samples are just the right size at 3.5ml

I have worn Debaser with Figue Amour today. They layer nicely together.

IDontHateRainbows · 07/08/2026 17:41

Homme a la rose by mfk. Perfect non sweet slightly spicy rose from MFK. Great for summer.

Yes of course, drop me your address and I’ll send it over (might be next week)

I received a sample of new Estée Lauder fragrance ‘Glimmer’ a couple of days ago when I purchased more Advanced Night Repair.

I usually ‘get on with’ EL fragrances but I really didn’t like it. No spice or powder on me as the notes suggest and on my skin it ends up like biscuits - a similar smell to bad fake tan! Perhaps just my body chemistry. Interested to hear how others find it.

I also tried the new M&S fragrances and aside from the ginger one, didn’t like any either. Not a good day. I much prefer the Next range if in the mood for a cheapie.

Finally, I saw a tiny bottle of Miller Harris Bergamote at TK Maxx counter. Huge longevity through handwashing etc but didn’t like it very much at either! Don’t mind more masculine leaning scents but this was too much. Will gift to husband.

A disappointing perfume day!

IDontHateRainbows · 07/08/2026 23:54

Been experimenting today

Ds and durga crush balls. A lemony tennis ball!

Malle lipstick rose. A powdery, violety rose

Miller Harris expat oud: really like this smoky oud. Reminds me of oud for greatness
