Do you change into old clothes at home or stay dressed?

Blueflutterby · Today 00:09

Probably an odd question
But just out of curiosity
How many of you get changed when you get home ,and just wear ,old or to big , clothes round the house?
Assuming you have bought yourself some nice summer clothes,do you wear them all day ,even to clean and cook in ?
Or do you get changed to scruffs when you get in ..
I get changed in to clothes that are 3 sizes to big ,and then wonder why I don't want to go back out again..but we have dogs ...And dog hair sticks to black badly .
Contemplating throwing out all my old to big clothes and just wearing the ones that fit all day ,with no change

On work days I cycle to and from work so I'll often just keep my leggings and hoodie/t-shirt that I've cycled home in.
Weekends I generally change into lounge wear/gym kit if I'm not going out because I have cats and even with super frequent lint rolling and hoovering the hair sticks to everything.

I change my clothes multiple times a day & it drives me crazy but I don’t know what the solution is!
I wear dog walking clothes, nice clothes for working/out for the day etc, maybe dog walking clothes again, comfy clothes for around the house, pyjamas.
Like others I just don’t want to risk ruining my nice clothes by cooking & cleaning in them. I also feel like they will wear out faster if I wear them too much. It’s daft really because I don’t get enough wear out of the nice stuff & some of it is expensive. Nice to know I’m not the only one though!

I have a few sets of loungewear and once I'm in for the evening, on it goes! A mix of soft leggings, sweats and tee shirts, all well made, correct size and good quality though.

Where would you recommend for loungewear sets?
I always change out of my work clothes after getting in from work but would like something more coordinated than my current leggings and a t shirt/jumper..

I wear jersey dresses, or tunics and jeggings, at home. They can be thrown in the wash if necessary after I’ve been cooking or cleaning, which, tbh, is most days. I wear them all year round unless it is very hot such as last week, and for this, I’ve got a few modal t-shirt dresses that can also be worn as nightwear in cooler weather.

IwanttoWFH · Today 09:16

I get showered as soon as I get home from work and into my PJs.
I have “home clothes” which mainly consist of old jumpers I no longer wear as they may have a small hole or be too big etc and some lounge sets of trousers/joggers and matching top.

I would also change from “outdoor clothes” as soon as I got home from shopping or the cinema etc. I just don’t find it comfy to lounge around in jeans etc.

Branleuse · Today 09:21

All of my clothes need to be comfy. I change if I don't feel comfy in them or feel that I look crap, even when indoors. I would hate to be out and about and not feel comfy even if my outfit looked good.

ThreeStripeQueen · Today 09:22

It depends what I’m wearing. I spend most of my time in jeans and a t-shirt so I don’t generally get changed much to DC1’s amazement as she cannot fathom how anyone can lounge in jeans.
If I’m cooking anything that might smell or stain then I’ll put an older T-shirt or sweatshirt on for cooking.
I have trackies I’ll sometimes change into in winter.

quirkychick · Today 09:25

I think my version of loungewear is what I wear as pyjamas, and I only wear them to sleep in. If I'm going to yoga (like this morning) I would wear yoga clothes and then shower/change when I come in. I wfh, so wear smartish casual clothes the rest of the time, then back into pyjamas to sleep. I would only wear pyjamas all day if I was very ill.

Old big clothes like a slob? No. Specific fitted house clothes? Yes. I forbid outdoor clothes to be anywhere near the furniture. God knows what germs are on them. Outdoor shoes stay outdoors as well, or rather in the mud room.

MotherOfCrocodiles · Today 09:27

I am amazed by all this changing into lounge clothes and wonder if it reinforces the staying in culture?

Especially in young people, the idea they are home in loungewear or PJs at 6pm getting comfy and watching telly on a daily basis isn’t great.

no wonder people are afraid to answer the door!

Gettingbysomehow · Today 09:41

Id like to wear lovely clothes all the time but I have cats and live in the country side so its not possible.

Squirrel60 · Today 09:49

I work in a gift shop and thankfully don't have to wear a uniform. My boss said I can dress casually as long as I'm clean and tidy. But as soon as I get home, off comes the rib-breaking bra; then I just hang around in a t-shirt and shorts, no matter what the weather! And I wear them for various jobs around the flat and also for bed!

TheOGCCL · Today 09:50

I wear the same thing all day, something smart-casual, unless going to an exercise class (evening time). All my clothes including my bras are carefully chosen to be comfortable for me.

I didn’t wear school uniform so maybe that started it.

i cycle to work and back but it’s a shortish journey and I don’t sweat much.

I have cats but they have the good manners not to shed too much (short haired and dense).

Tinytwinle · Today 09:55

Going out clothes.
Baggy t-shirt or jumper and leggings when im going out.

Indoors clothes.
Pjs / baggy bottoms t-shirt indoors, fluffy jumper if its cold.
If its hot just boxers and t-shirt indoors.

NewYorkSummer · Today 10:01

Honestly? I don’t really own any clothes that are old or too big. I like clothes and style, so even if I’m just in jeans and a t shirt it will be ‘nice’ jeans and a t shirt. I hate feeling scruffy or messy, that’s just me.

edited to add I have several pets - lint rollers exist.

ConverselyAttired · Today 10:09

I don't change. Just creates more washing. The only time I don't stay in my clothes all day is if I go for a run or to the gym at about 6pm - I will change into pyjamas or joggers and a t shirt after that.

Lola001 · Today 10:11

I have a graduation scheme.
Often starting as decent Popping out day to day clothes eventually get to a point where they are loungey stuff. Otherwise I buy lounge sets and refer to them as daytime pjs and nighttime pjs 😆

DiamondsAndDenial · Today 10:15

I wear smart work clothes when I go to work so when I get home, I immediately take my bra off and put on yoga pants and a tank top/sweatshirt etc

I dont like my comfy at home clothes to look worn out or scruffy because that makes me feel a bit rubbish so I always buy new comfy clothes when they get worn out but I would never wear smart work clothes at home.

Changing outfits is psychologically important to me as it marks the distinction between work and home

Nannyfannybanny · Today 10:16

When I was working, nursing so uniform..I have gardening clothes, dog walking clothes, going out to the shops,a bit more "coverage", and nicer ones for days out.

CluelessAboutBiology · Today 10:24

I don’t change out of my work clothes unless I’m going out in the evening, I’m too lazy. They get washed every day. At weekends/days off I wear my non-work clothes but I don’t have any lounge wear. Old clothes are for doing DIY or gardening.

ETA although I work out of the house/never WFH, my work clothes are not smart clothes.
