Must have been asked. Million times but flat, non-dowdy sandals that won’t shred my feet?

Desperate for recommendations, I’ve got some dr marten sandals that give me toe blisters, some Toms sandals that give me blisters on the soles of my feel- anything with a toe bar immediately hurts! Has anyone found a magic sandal?

Saltwater boardwalks. Most comfy sandal ever!

Fit flops - they do flat styles. Very comfortable

Can you post a picture of what you consider pretty? Then people can help find a comfy version

Birkenstocks

These are foot shredders for me. Had 2 pairs, wore them in and still couldn’t wear them for more than a couple of hours.

Tevas are the comfiest and most practical for me and somewhat trendy.

My fit flops also shredded my feet , I thought after a third summer I would have “broken them in” but here I am nursing blisters .

What was it about them?

Had mind for years and walk for hours in them every summer.

I find Ecco very comfortable, they are all quite plain this season though. I quite like this https://ie.ecco.com/product/ecco-flash/240873/61510 but even that is tending towards dowdy. Some seasons they have very cute kids' sandals which go up to size 6.5 usually so I can wear them, but this year even the kids' are quite dull.

Tevas aren’t exactly pretty but they’re somewhat fashionable and very comfy/ practical.
failing that - have a look at Clark’s. They sometimes do more modern shapes that have arch support/ soft footbed etc.

Also here to recommend Teva

floatinginacoolpool · 26/05/2026 21:47

I love my saltwaters

momager22 · 26/05/2026 21:47

Saltwaters are very flat with no support, aren’t they?

I love my birkies but 1/10 times they give me blisters. It’s a very big PITA

Bjorkdidit · 26/05/2026 22:05

Teva Tirra travellers are quite nice and good to walk in. I wear them while walking miles on city breaks.

AgnethaF · 26/05/2026 22:20

I bought two pairs of Birkenstocks with much hope and expectation. I found them so uncomfortable they were unwearable. The instep just seemed to be in the wrong place for my feet. I gave them away.

I tried the M&S fake version. Absolute bliss! Think they were only £30. Would recommend.

Wigeon · 26/05/2026 22:22

I got some Fitflop sandals from Vinted (they're pretty expensive new) and they are incredibly comfy - I can sightsee all day, the soles are really padded so you.dont get achy feet, there is arch support, absolutely no rubbing or blisters. Love them.

Saltwater Sandals

BaronessBomburst · 26/05/2026 22:28

I have a pair of Tamaris flat gold sandals that I can walk miles in.

familyissues12345 · 26/05/2026 22:29

I love saltwaters. I had some prettier ones from New Look a few years ago, but haven’t seen any nice ones since!

Planning to try the thicker soled salties this year, or Fit Flops
