Must have been asked. Million times but flat, non-dowdy sandals that won’t shred my feet?

Desperate for recommendations, I’ve got some dr marten sandals that give me toe blisters, some Toms sandals that give me blisters on the soles of my feel- anything with a toe bar immediately hurts! Has anyone found a magic sandal?

Paul the podiatrist on Instagram has the best sandals for 2026.

Saltwater boardwalks. Most comfy sandal ever!

Are these more comfortable than the traditional saltwater ones I have. will try to attach pics

Josef Seibel, Rohde Latina Sandale - Leder, Hotter, Pikolinos

OverlyFragrant · 31/05/2026 12:42

Last year I bought these.

From day one, supremely comfortable, no blisters, and they do look very stylish.
The leather and sole are quality.

My only gripe is the inner glue has worn and the sole started to come away. Well, it would after a hot summer of wear, so I peeled it off and wear the sandals with no issues.

@AgedWalrus thank you so much for your detailed reply .
I've ordered the Mary Janes ,feel very excited.
The Oxford pampas will be next I think ..
I've spent so much time looking and I'm.so happy to have found these.
Feet vary so much but hopefully these will suit mine.
( I also have a bunion on my right foot and both big toes are arthritic.)

Zippidydoodah · 31/05/2026 13:33

Saltwater, hands down. I had my tan pair for about seven years before they wore down and I think the flatness of the sole started hurting the bottoms of my feet. Still have a few pairs in different colours that are going strong.

Boohoo76 · 31/05/2026 14:56

I have these Fitflop Gracie sandals. They are a pale gold although described as silver!

Moshulu

Wiglio · 31/05/2026 15:38

I ordered some sliders in the Moda en Pelle sale
like slippers, the leather is soft

Daisy03 · 31/05/2026 15:51

Just got the Fitflop Gracie strappy sandals, they’re lovely and have walked miles in them comfortably. Also have Fitflop flip flops on leather which are really comfortable once I’m used to them

Stelmosfire1 · 31/05/2026 16:16

I love my saltwater swimmers, can walk miles in them. My feet blister easily and I’ve had no issues. I also loved Teva hurricanes for 2 summers but lost weight and found they rubbed on my little toes 😭

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 31/05/2026 16:54

I have tevas for walking about in on holiday etc.and air & grace for going out in the evening etc. They’re both very comfortable. But, they both rub on the first outing or two of the season, so I use compeed stick on any likely pressure points. Complete lifesaver.

HelenHywater · 31/05/2026 17:19

I think the OP was asking for non-dowdy sandals, so that immediately takes gabor, paver, josef seibel, fitflop right out of the running imo.

I have some aeyde sandals which are fairly pretty I think.

OP I saw Sophie Raworth wearing those Penelope Chilvers sandals in gold and they did look good If I was buying sandals now I'd go for Anonymous Copenhagen. (But I'm trying to resist).

Astrabees · 31/05/2026 17:57

Hotter Tourist 2, I have the gold ones and they are SO comfortable. Hotter are usually unattractive but my gold ones look OK . For super comfortable and everyday I like Keen Venice.

IckyIck · 31/05/2026 18:15

@HelenHywater , but the brands you mentioned have lots of styles. Uncomfortable feet probably makes you look more dowdy than anything.
Gabor
Hotter
Josef Seibel
Pikolinos

Lots of pretty sandals linked.

I can’t claim to own a pair but I ear wigged a conversation in the hairdressers about croc sandals. They were strappy, inoffensive and flat. You just slide them on and they’re washable etc. They were 30 quid. Woman said they were comfortable.

I was just thinking "Ooh a sandals thread where people have focused on comfort and no-one's criticised other people's style choices!" but nevermind 😀

I have! Well obviously it’s personal taste and you might find these not to your liking but I have had these for 3 days and have felt like I am walking on a cloud/ wearing slippers. I love them (and had been on a similar ‘comfy but looks nice’ sandal quest to you. They have quite a few other styles on their website too and a discount code if you are a new customer.

The OP specifically asked for non-dowdy sandals!

I don't care what anyone wears on their feet but I wouldn't call most of the sandals posted on this thread, "non-dowdy"

Overtheatlantic · 31/05/2026 19:10

You won’t regret Penelope Chilvers; I’ve got the Shepherdess and they were instantly comfortable.

BBCK · 31/05/2026 19:14

As PP have said: Pavers. I have flats and wedges and they are all very comfortable as in I can wear the all day long. Lots have a bit of bling too which is what I like .
